One-sided approach to regulation
I would have preferred a text that merely reported employers' compliance obligations in an objective manner, rather than portraying employers as the enemy.I generally found the text to be highly politicized and, to some extent, anti-management.This book does little to bridge the gap between the business community and academia.

Employment Law for business
As an attorney, manager, and teacher of human resources professionals, I recommend this book.I found that thie information was thoroughly researched. I also appreciated that the legal information was presented in a business context so that managers who are not lawyers could understand the information andreadily appy it to real life workplace problems.

Not a basic wiring guide
This is THE guide book for electricians and engineers. Almost 700 pages of useful information. The layout, tables, and ease of understanding have all improved over past editions. But this is not a basic wiring guide and it will only frustrate those without some electrical background. If you need to meet code - you need this book.

Start Here
This is the first book I read on Asperger's, and I am glad that it was.Tony Attwood is one of the leading experts on Asperger's.He really gets it and doesn't try to fit an Asperger child into a nt understanding of the world, but goes to the Asperger world.It has really helped me understand myself and my children better.Well done!I can't wait to see more from him.

At the very top of my list
My son was found with some type of High Functioning Autism about two months ago. I'm a physician and behavioral researcher, though not in the area of autism or anything related to children or developmental disorders. I've read many books, scientific texts, online publications... you name it, in the past weeks. I've obtained very valuable information from all of them. This book does not go into the details of genetics or the neurological issues around Autism, in which I'm deeply interested, but I got that from other sources. However, it was from this book that I could draw a clear plan of action for my son and my family. Mr. Atwood must be a very smart and practical person. So far, of all that I've read, I'd put this book at the top, with the much more academic though less practical textbook on AS by Klin, Volkmar and Sparrow.

Excellent resource, but guidance was helpful
Teachers and the Law (6th Edition) was the primary text used for my National-Louis University (Wheeling, IL) School Law course. Although the text implies that only information regarding teachers will be discussed, Fischer actually covers legal issues that deal with many levels of educational law including student cases, administrator cases, and even cases that don't involve teachers at all, but loosely relate to educational law in general.

I received the book in good shape.The cover looked next to new and there were very little marks or highlights in the text.

A Must Read for Teachers
Case law, unless done perhaps by the likes of John Grissam, is not page turning material.However, the authors have done an incredible job of putting very pressing and often complex areas into an accessible and engaging book.Written in an easy to use question and answer format, the updated book touches on education legal issues ranging from free speech, to students with disabilities, to internet issues.While of great use for educator (or educators to be), the book could also easily be adapted for classroom use, either as a debate or research starter.Worth every penny of its price. ... What a cleaverly crafted book
I'll tell you I never had so much fun reading a book. It nearly brought me to hysterics of laughter. I was laughing so loud it made me cry. Superb mix of prose and gentle words of comfort. Plenty of books impart the basics of how to work independently - but too few include all the legal tips, tricks and traps involved. I recently a started an S corp for my software contracting.The book is helpful and worth the price.It won't answer EVERY question you will have, but you probably should talk to a CPA for those anyway.

Almost Painless Public School Law
This Sixth Edition of American Public School Law is a comprehensive treatment of noteworthy public school case law that also serves to outline the history of our country. It's user friendly, while not lowering the bar for comprehension. Legal lingo is left intact, but translations are offered for those of us who are reading it for School Law classes, as opposed to Law School classes. There's a useful glossary, and a handy index for locating specific topics, and the cases that illustrate them. This is a book you'll want to keep.

The IBC more than just another building code
The IBC is the long-time-coming consolidation of the three major building codes in the US and there is nothing "international" about it.Back in the 70's the 3 code organizations formed BOCA and put out a 1 & 2 family dwelling code. The 3 members them gradually made changes to the individual building codes that brought them into similar formats, then they combined them into one code in 2000, the IBC, and modified the dwelling code to be the IRC (Int. Residential Code)and changed the organization's name to the ICC, the Int. Code Council. There little to review about the content since it is either the law in your area or it is not.For comparisons to previous codes and other information try the ICC's website http://www.iccsafe.org/

This reference book covers developmental, clinical, educational, family, and intervention issues of concern to teachers working with children with disabilities. Written by doctors, it thoroughly explores issues than impact child development starting from conception through adulthood. Factors that can cause disabilities, current methods of treatment, commonly used medications, and guidelines for intervention are addressed. Solid Introductory Book
Batshaw's Children with Disabilities is a "must have" book for anyone who works with children with disabilities...almost.Written by doctors for those in the medical professional most of the recommendedinterventions come from a decidedly medical model.It is, on the otherhand, fairly comprehensive with sections dealing with genetics,development, developmental disabilities, and interventions with the bulk ofthe book dealing with specific disabilities from the obscure (Fragile XSyndrome) to the more common (AD/HD).I have not found Appendix A or Bparticularly useful (Glossary and Syndromes of Inborn Errors of Metabolism)but turn to Appendix C and D frequently (Commonly Used Medication andResources for Children with Disabilities) Finally, while the book offers anice mix of theory and application, I would like to see (maybe in a 5thEdition?) the incorporation of some of the so-called "new brainresearch."Nevertheless, I still turn to this book several times eachmonth. ...
