I was tricked into thinking this was the new book that covered the new code!If it isn't the 2005 edition with the blue cover.....then don't put the #$@#$#$ 2005 edition cover on display!!!!!!!!!
DON'T BUY - OLD EDITION
2005 Amendments are not in the burgundy colored BNK law book - they are in the new one. The cover is blue. The burgundy colored one in OLD law. Buy the new blue one (2005) that has the new amendments in it.

The Best Place to Start to Understand Indian Law
Although I understand the earlier reviewer's concern regarding anti-discrimination law and how miserable law school can be, I have found this book to be the best possible introduction to Indian Law.My law school offered no Indian Law class, and wanting to learn more after I read about the Cobell case, I needed a concise book.Canby has done a wonderful job.His historical introduction is a quick and engrossing read, and the other chapters in the book are equally clear and concise.I owe him much, given that I wrote two papers on Indian Law in law school and quoted extensively from him.Yes, Indian Law is a complex field where tribal sovereignty and the government's trust responsibility often collide and where concepts of jurisdiction and property are seriously muddled, but Canby gives you just what you need to get your legs under you, understand the basic concepts, and know where to begin to research from there.
Don't sleep on this subject:It ain't easy!
I took Indian Law 7 years ago.I'm hoping this book corresponds to the Notes in a Nutsell for Felix Cohen's text.Indian Law didn't have those highly useful cliff notes on tape.It didn't have those cards with the questions on the front and the answers on the back either.So I needed this Notes in a Nutshell in order to survive.It was essential for writing an outline for the final.Indian law is no cute little topic.The rules that the US has used to jerk Native Americans and their tribes over are not easy to understand.This borrowed much from difficult subjects like civil procedure and property, rather than anti-discrimination law.If you choose to take this class, you will need this book in order to survive it.Then again, I'm a person who hated all aspects of law school, including the subjects that sounded like they'd be interesting. ... Poorly edited and researched
I'm completing an independent study on entertainment law, and more specifically, copyright law and how it pertains to filmmaking. I got this book among several others, and was a little surprised at how poorly written this book is. First off, the editing is TERRIBLE: there are spelling and grammar mistakes ALL OVER the book! On some pages it's outright ridiculous. Honestly, who proofread this before publication?

Entertaining book on entertainment law
This is an outstanding book that would be useful for students, lawyers and everyone interested in an entertainment career. Burr has an easy-to-read style and has great quotes from the players in the entertainment field. She's also great at explaining complicated topics. Torts by Kionka
The fundamental rationale of torts admits to the fact that someone has been harmed. The common law developed a tort from An Okay Book, But There Are Better Ones For Students
Honestly, this is a book you don't need. Torts are not that difficult and this text is not the best aid for a student. While it comprehensive on the subject, you'd be better served to supplement your casebook with a guide like an Emanuel or Gilberts. Because Torts are not that complex, the brevity and structure of those two will probablely better serve you when it comes time for the final. Furthermore, the Emmanuel's has two additions and tries to match sections to your casebook. While in general it is a fine book, if I were a student, I would go another route. ... Read more

Excellent Primer
Not all Nut Shell books are created equal.This is an excellent little book that can used in Accounting class, Corporations and real life.Besides the Balance Sheet and Income Statement materials based on Journal entries and the General Ledger, the book covers accounting for leases, long-term debt, and also provides a good introduction to stock valuations and how to pay dividends.Easy to follow; multipurpose.Explained inventory entries and closing adjustments clearly, which is more than most professors can do.

Does its job: Teaches you accounting
After fruitlessly attempting to learn accounting from the truly awful casebook we were using in an "Accounting for Lawyers" class, I bought this book off of Amazon after hearing it made the subject approachable.I've generally been impressed by the quality of West's Nutshell series, and this one is no different.The subjects are arranged in a rational order, the book is edited well, and I understood the material after one read-through.This is a typical nutshell book- no superfluous examples or problem sets that no professor actually assigns, just straightforward doctrine.If you're taking an Accounting for Lawyers class or are a solo practicioner looking to delve into some financial statements without hiring an accountant, this should get you by just fine. ... The book "Bar Exam in a Nutshell" is a worthwhile purchase. The book provides a briliant method to identify your weaknesses for both first time takers and repeat examinees called "Forensic IRAC." This alone makes the book worthwhile. In addition, the book gives you a concise overview of the entire bar exam process in conformity with most West Nutshells which give you an overview.

A definite must read for students interested in law!
Jurisprudence can be an intimidating subject. This book will help you understand complex legal issues, whether you are a law student or an individual concerned with legal philosophy. This book is comparable to the Real Property Nutshell book. I read both books prior to taking my Propertyand Jurisprudence classes in law school. Good synthesis on civil law
The first section on civil law tradition is good.It provides a sense of the complexity of history from Justinian to the great 19c civil codes of France and Germany and their areas of influence in Latin America etc, along with what these countries' systems have in common, and the convergence with Anglo notions in 20c.The essense of civil law seems here to be a certain formalism, emphasizing private law conceived in 3 parts (persons, property, contract) and downplaying the state, dating back to Institutes.Read more
