Useless waste of time, money, and effort
It is a shame that professors force their students to shell out big bucks to buy casebooks that don't help.
Do support Dressler's income by buying his supplements
Do yourself a favor...if you are assigned this textbook go ahead and buy the Black Letter Outline series by Dressler even if you don't use it until closer to finals. It gives you what you need to know and simplifies things so that you don't have to search round and round for it in the textbook. It's unfortunate Dressler feels the need to sell his supplements and as a result has to make his textbook so crappy. And yes, it really IS that bad.

Buy a companion guide!
The text is not a good tool for 1Ls to learn crim law by itself.Most of my classmates and I found the text to be poorly organized and written - especially for those just trying to grasp the intricacies of crim law.Probably a better book for studying statutory interpretation or philosophy of crim law.Prepare to become intimate with the MPC if you are assigned this text.I highly recomend a companion book for the text, one keyed to it such as Blackletter outline by Dressler or the Understanding Crim Law companion by Dressler.I used both and they saved me from utter confusion. ... Very helpful book
This book was recommended by a professor since the final grade was based upon a final paper. I wish I had this book since 1st year. Great for people who plan to "write on" to law review as well as write any kind of legal scholarly paper. Highly recommend this.

Not the best I've had, not the worst
You'll most likely have this assigned, or you won't be reading this...so since you have no choice in the casebook your prof is using, here's my 2 cents:
One of the best casebooks my 1L year
First, you must consider that a) this is a law school casebook, it's not meant to be light reading, and b) my review might be somewhat tained by the fact that I've taken a Contracts course taught by Mel (an awesome lecturer), but: this is a more clearly organized and well edited casebook than most. Poor organization and explanations
Of all the textbooks I've ever had in law school and undergraduate classes, this book is likely the most frustating and the worst.Read more

Good teacher
I just happened across this textbook in my gold box and was happy to see my former teacher's book on sale.
Great Book
