an excellent companion volume for students
Findlay and Farber treat environmental issues in this work that is a part of the "Nutshell" legal series. Law students snap these works up around exam time to make sure they haven't missed any valuable tidbits, andthis book has that sort of "Cliff's Notes" feel to it -- that is,it is not an exhaustive environmental law treatise, but makes an excellentsupplement to such treatises. ... Non Factual
The First Trial is a very good book. The only fault is it does not belong in the Nut Shell Series. There are no case examples. It makes you think of how it would be if you didn't think of that before trial and is full of merit towards thinking outside the lawyer. You just never know if it works or not. It's self centered on the first trial of the lay person, Where Do I Sit? It would make a better audio book/ non-fiction, not a Law ref.

Good for law students- who should also see Keith Evans' book
Goldberg's nutshell is good, but Keith Evans' book, Common Sense Rules of Advocacy for Lawyers, is for the law student and new attorney who wants to learn how to be an excellent advocate.Read more

a succinct introduction
First off, I'm not a lawyer. I needed a book on whitecollar crime in US and I had to search intensively. For one reason or another the books on the market and in law libraries are for US lawyers which means that you don't find a full treatise on the subject but starting points that you have to develop by yourself. This book is the best I could find in an atrophic market. So if you are a novice don't expect very much but a short introduction on theoretical concept. One question I had in mind was how harsh was the punishment for such crimes and how precise and effective was the contour of the crime. Well, the answer is not here. If I had to rely on this book for an anwer I can infer that there is some punishment in theory for a vague crime. Unless you know well and by heart the US Sentencing guidelines and the rest of the US crime law, you end up with more questions than answers. It's more on the elements of the crime (willfulness, mens rea, a scheme to defraud etc.) than on the actual behavior the laws are meant to cope with. So read this book and be ready to do your own research.

Good fast read was better than a dense textbook.
I don't have the opportunity to take a law class on this topic, so I bought the nutshell.This was a very interesting read, just hitting the basics, and didn't take too much time out of my study schedule.Highly reccommend if you think you are interested in this type of law but don'thave time /opportunity to take the class. ... As good as being in a class with Lilly
I'm actually not just saying that: I just finished taking Evidence with Graham Lilly, and his (excellent) book captures his lectures almost perfectly.I'm shocked that such a clear, lucid explanation of the Federal Rules of Evidence (as well as their evolution and major common law departures) fits in such a tiny, succint book.

Solid Book From A Students Perspective.
I found this book very useful both during law school and at my summer clerkships. While most states, or at least a good portion, have adopted something similar to the Federal rules on evidence, this book provides help understanding that tradition as well as the common law. This book does a really good job of providing a summation of either without proving too difficult to learn from or to sit with for extended periods of time. The only concern I would raise is if your state or the one you practice in goes clearly one way it may be better to buy the specific hornbook for your state. Brief, clear statements of the law. Lots and lots of practice problems. Just a fantastic study guide.

Excellent treatise
This is an excellent treatise on the law of property.Because the sections on Bailments, Gifts, Rights of Possessors of Land, Present Possessory Freehold Estates, and Future Interests were very useful, I would recommend this book for the first semester of property.Unfortunately, Hovenkamp's coverage of issues traditionally discussed in second semester property is not as useful.For second semester, I would suggest using Understanding Property of the Understanding Series.This series is published by Lexis.Understanding Property is also useful for first semester, but because Hovenkamp's treatise covers first semester issues well, it's not really necessary.

Another night law students dream
This is a very consise treatise of Property Law - it is not your typical hornbook - this is an excellent study book - with excelent hypos - it has very terse restatements of the law with killer Essay - hypo problems ( Lots of them too - numbers of roughly tracking the importance of the subject - IE lots of Adverse Possession probs - a few finders law probs ) - its like a Siegels or Emanuels Q&A but with hard covers - it is really a "find" for those studying property law. One of the Better Nutshells
The Nutshell Series is great for law students who want a refresher in the days before a final.The Con Law book is no exception.These books sum up all of the main points in an easy read that's broken out by subject so you can easily skip sections you didn't cover in class.However, unlike others in the series, I feel this one actually provides a pretty clear picture of Con Law even if you haven't taken the course yet.Usually I recommend you wait until the end of the semester to plow through these in a day or two, but this one may be worth buying before class starts to give you an understanding of the topic from the get-go.

Great, concise review!
Ok, so I'm a little biased since professor Barron was my con law prof., but this book is great. It's a nutshell, so don't expect a whole lot of depth, but it does a great job of boiling down the basic holdings of cases and tying them together with a narrative. It was almost as handy as my outline during the exam.

Good Summary of Con Law
This book was extremely useful to me, because it boiled down complicated areas of law, such as justiciability, the commerce clause, and state action. It helped me to get a high grade in Con Law. No need to buy it.
This book really isn't necessary. I found this book to be too dense or too superficial for what I needed. I bought this during my first semester of law school and thought after perusing it in the bookstore that it could be useful. The reality is that I used it only a couple of times, and have only opened twice since. The book has a ton of information if you have never had civil procedure, but what I have found is that it's not useful on the job and there are much better study aides. I have repeatedly touted the benefit of the Emmanuel, but I want to doublely do so hear. The charts alone makes the Emmanuel far superior, but the presentation also helps as well. I don't think anything was more helpful for any class than the Emmanuel's flow chart for personal jurisdiction. This nutshell also when you're studying just becomes more of the same-old, same-old. In practice, there are better and more respected books like Wright & Miller that prove to be better sources and are respectable enough to site in a brief. In essence, do not buy this unless you haven't been going to class. It is too dense and won't help for exam.
