4-0 out of 5 stars Your best option is to fight it!
First off, everyone makes at least a couple of traffic mistakes (most of them harmless) every time he/she gets behind the wheel. It is just the unfortunate ones who get caught and receive tickets. This is why I believe no one should ever just pay an expensive ticket without knowing the options available.
5-0 out of 5 stars My case was dismissed!!!
My case was perfect example when this book really shines. I got a ticket for "unsafe turn", didn't violate any posted limits and it was all based on cop's subjective judgement. My first intention was to pay a fine and go to traffic school to clean up the point, but I didn't feel I was guilty and I was looking for some way to prove it. The problem was I didn't know what to do.
5-0 out of 5 stars Realistic and Empowering
This is a very time consuming process. However, I have been burned so many times by overzealous cops, as at the time I was only able to afford older used cars that were cop magnets.I decided enough is enough, and I decided to fight back, and I never regretted the effort. After you go through the process once, you can use similar techniques with ease.Read more

From handling water issues and overhanging trees to problems with neighboring businesses and vague boundary lines, professional attorney Cora Jordan's Neighbor Law provides an updated edition of a classic title which outlines neighbor rights and responsibilities, from zoning and nuisance scenarios to starting a petition. Excellent, practical advice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Advice for Newbies and Veteran Freedom Fighters Alike!
Lets face it. Its NOT about safety. Traffic citations - especially seatbelt citations - are about money. And power. And stripping back the constitution. If it were about safety, they wouldn't put so much focus on citations so much, they would straighten dangerous curves, force property owners to cut back brush that causes blind intersections, install traffic control devices where needed and work harder to get the most dangerous class of drivers - those who drive while intoxicated - off the roads and into jails.3-0 out of 5 stars Beat Your Ticket
The information was good for the most part, however, some information is outdated.... for example, the book states that only 3 states consider laser an "unqualified legal seal" for determining speed. This information is outdated according to the Judge in Oregon Court today!!!5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful for lawyers & nonlawyers

1-0 out of 5 stars Mother's best interest or childs?
I have news for Deedra, it is just as humiliating, infuriating, and degrading for a father as it is for a mother. If women spent more time meeting the short and long term needs of their children they wouldn't be so wounded. Mother's start out on top with the legal system and usually end up on top. Deedra and the other women are heard by the legal system even when they whisper. It doesn't need to be a fight if everyone is concentrating on our children. Children need a mother and a father even if those people live in different homes.
3-0 out of 5 stars Most Inspirational Book for Women!
This is the most inspirational child custody book I have seen. The 8 pages of Index allow women to find thir way through the legal and emotional battle. Personally, I think that custody is more of a parent's issue than a men against women issue. Although this book does not deal with unsual situations, it is worth the $10.00 price.

4-0 out of 5 stars I Think This Book Is Great!
There are three great books on the market today and I say don't shop around any more. The two best bankruptcy books on the market have been written by women. I purchased Peggy Palm's book first and found it very informative and insightful. I'm attempting to the stop foreclosure of my home. I then purchased Tiffany Love's book, surviving financial disasters, to get the bankruptcy forms on CD Rom and then learned that she too filed for bankruptcy and included her legal pleadings. If you want to stop foreclosure, get Ms. Love's book for sure as it is "hands on", but I find myself frequently referring back to the information in Peggy's to gain an additional perceptive. Money Troubles is another great book that provides wonderful information and exceeds the scope of Peggy's book, because it covers everything inside and out of bankruptcy, like Tiffany's book. Which some people I think may find too technical, but if you're doing battle like I am with creditors the information is right on target. All three will cost you less than $100 far less than an attorney's consultation fee. My verdict: Peggy's book for the legal advice, Tiffany's book for insight and roadmap, Money Trouble for everything else even after bankruptcy. The others are crap!

4-0 out of 5 stars Gives a broad description of debt information
I think of this book as a dictionary of options rather than a How To type book. The information is general, but it does list some state specific laws. If you are deep in debt and are looking to get out ASAP, then this book may be too general. However, it will point you in a direction to search for more answers.
1-0 out of 5 stars Too Basic
This book is very basic and gives advice about how to manage money. However the one mistake the book makes is that it assumes that collectionagencies and/or creditors are legitimate and offers no recourse to how todispute charges from less scrupulous companies and agencies. The text fordealing with credit reporting bureaus is very basic. There are moreprecise texts to tell how to clean up your credit report (naturally afteryou have closed the accounts). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars very helpful and practical advice
This Manual has been an invaluable resource for our office. Our office is the Trustee for Special Needs Trusts, and having such practical advice in one book has been extremely helpful for our staff. It is readable, cogent, and well organized. It is a useful tool for attorneys and non-attorneys who are trying to better understand the many issues involved with coordinating public benefits and special needs trusts. The information that itprovides on Trust Administration is very useful information for anyone who is a Trustee of a Special Needs Trust. Our office is purchasing multiple copies because it is sucha a helpful resource.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Basic Guide for Trustees of Special Needs Trusts
Coordination of public benefits and special needs trusts are a complicated matter.I like this affordable guide because it doesn't confuse by trying to give the reader a law degree like some books. It gives straight forward, practical answers that go a long way to explaining day to day administration, particularly for the family member or professional fiduciary that doesn't have a lot of prior experience with government programs and special needs trusts. While it uses Massachusetts examples for some of the programs that could become dated over time, it makes an effort to be generic and timeless, and 95% of the content is good anywhere at anytime.I draft special needs trusts naming Trustees with a wide range of experience, from zero to full time, and I will be sending a copy of this guide to all of them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and straightforward - includes CD with forms!
This book (6th edition) has taken a BIG weight off of my mind regarding writing a will.My husband and I currently don't have a will (and apparently have lots of company - reportedly 60% of Americans don't have wills), but I am in the process of changing that with the reassuring help of this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Will writing is easy.
I bought this book mostly because I wanted my daughter in the right hands if something were to happen to both my husband and I.Peace of mind knowing that she will indeed end up with the people we select is worth a million and we didn't to have to spend much money to set this up.This book is great to have your wishes put down so everything is distributed how you want it.Much more convenient then going to a lawyer and saves you a lot of money.

If your landlord is a jerk and you want to know what he (or she) can legally do or not do, this book will help.It will also give you some idea of when to go for professional help.It is of less help in figuring out what to do before you have to bring in the lawyers.I found it very helpfull to leave this book on the coffee table when my nosy landlord was snooping around my apartment.Apparently bad landlords don't like it when tenants know their rights.

Roof leaking? Sure, you can repair the problem and deduct it from your rent, but what if the landlord responds with an eviction notice? This is a book that I wish I'd had (and paid attention to) some years ago, that is, before being sued for divorce. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Legal Contracts
I found this book most useful for the CD-ROM's legal contracts. As a consultant, I use these for all my clients.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good content, bad editing
There is a lot of good information and discussion in this book about the topics which a contract should cover. It falls down, however, when it comes to the actual contracts.Just comparing the website and the custom software contracts, there are differences where there shouldn't be.In the software contract, it's theCustomer, in the website contract, it's the Client.A bit more than half of the contract sections with (mostly) identical headings and purpose have unexplained differences between them. Many of these differences are not trivial. In the text, the contracts are interleaved with explanations, but often the commentary/annotations are just restatements of the contract itself, which is a real time-waster, especially if you've read the background material earlier in the book.Other occasional editing snafus include explanatory comments inside the contract text, formatting syntax commands on the page (END SECTION), and a less than clear and concise structure for indicating optional clauses (the intended combinations aren't always clear, even though customization is to be expected).Given the fuzzy line between a website and a web application (ie 'custom software' (and really, what website is NOT custom?)), and given the marked similarities in over half of the two contracts, why not cover the overlapping sections just once, instead of twice, but inconsistently? And the sections that don't overlap, or overlap badly? No real explanation as to the reasons for the differences.I hope I don't have the same problems with the two versions of the independent contractor agreement.Fishman has written a pile of legal books for the layman, including the more recent "Consultant And Independent Contractor Agreements 5th Edition".I have to wonder: "Quantity over quality?"Perhaps when he is working on the next edition of this book ("Legal Guide to Web & Software Development", due out 8/2007), he will take the time to re-organize some of the content and get a capable editor.A determined reader can sort out the differences on their own, but it need not be so difficult. The content is 5 stars (including 24 documents in RTF format), but making it work for you is a real pain if you care about details.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Book Delivers

5-0 out of 5 stars California Landlord's Law Book is a must!
I have been a landlord for 12 years. Every few years I purchase a revised version just to be sure that laws haven't changed that I should know about. This book is a must if you have rentals in California. It is very easy to understand, it has all the forms you may need on CD and can be referred to quickly when questions come up. I feel I am a better landlord because of this book. I have also loaned it to my friends when they felt that their landlord had not be treating them fairly. They also found it very helpful. I wouldn't be without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful and practical handbook for Landlords
I read through the book before renting my place, and it provided me with very useful tips on the legality of various aspects of renting one's place. It also had templates and forms which were very handy, in drawing up a lease, issuing a receipt or generating a checklist. I would recommend this book for any landlord, whether you are renting out one house or multiple.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great information for first time California Landlord
This was the only book I needed to become a landlord in California. With the included forms on CD, I was able to easily create a lease for my tenants and feel confident that I was doing everything legally. I read the relevant sections of the book and will keep it on hand if any rental problems show up. I am very satisfied with the book selection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Crucial Information
This book contains must have information for anyone owning an IRA. I had a previous version and wanted to keep current as I approach the magic age. This book tells you how to avoid fines and penalties from the dastardly IRS. Keep as much of your hard earned savings as possible for as long as possible by reading this book several times then saving it for future reference. I also marked many pages for my beneficiaries just in case. Do yourself a favor and invest in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very User Friendly!
The book is well organized.I was able to use it, immediately, to answer 'basic questions' to help a relative avoid a costly mistake and, more importantly, to learn 'options' that could help.Though I am an insurance agent, I've had little exposure to the 401(k), IRA, etc., market. This book is quickly moving me to the 'top 20% group' of informed agents and financial advisors.I highly recommend it, thanks to Ed Slott!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pay attention to the sub-title
The reviewer plugging the "MarketBuster" book has totally missed the point of this NOLO book, which is given in the subtitle: Taking Your Money Out. The reviewer is talking about strategies for growing your account.
