3-0 out of 5 stars Incorporating your Business for Dummies
The book gave a good review of the different types of Incorporation. The type that might be best for any business desired with different requirements and tax advantages of each type. Whether one has partners makes a difference in type needed or whether one wants to sell stock in their company or not.
1-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Incorrect Information
This book is in a word HORRIBLE.Some of this information is dangerous to someone starting up a business because it is incorrect.Unfortunately, the Wiley Dummy series hires low end authors who aren't experts and don't research the topics.4-0 out of 5 stars Good as a starter, but you will need more.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not such an easy read
Okay book, not the best read, but better than the Mas-Collel green books. This book gives a lot of info on theory but I thought it lacked wrt practical (applied examples). Used for a graduate level course in Micro Econ. My particular course is very hard (this class serves both graduate and PhD Finance students) so needless to say, I am ordering the workbook to help me survive!

2-0 out of 5 stars Needs work
I used this text in an intermediate microeconomic theory course, but have a math background. The first half of the text is acceptable - concepts are presented well, and there are a good number of examples. The biggest problem is that the author or typesetter seems to not understand the correct use of parenthesis - many of the formulae are not correct! The section on game theory, which is the second half of the book, is quite poor. Greater depth is needed, and crucial theory is glanced over. It would be fine for a course which doesn't get past chapter 12 or so, but look elsewhere for game theory.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good microeconomics book
I have used this as a textbook for my second year microeconomic theory course. I think this is definitely a good reference for mathematical approach to economics. This book definitely assumes some exposure to beginning microeconomics, so this is not a beginners text. It is a nice book because it has a lot of interesting info beside standard micro topics, such as risk aversion. Exaples and graphs are helpful to illustrate the concepts. Excercises are hard (at least some of them), so get the solution manual. I also found this textbook interesting because it has a lot of footnotes with additional details, and "extensions" in the end of each chapter which take the topics a bit futher. Another helpful feature was the list of recommended literature for each topic. Even though I am not sure if I will continue in economics, I am still keeping this book for myself because I had a good experience with it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book By A Great Teacher
Gerry Beyer was my "Wills and Trusts" professor in law school. He was my favorite teacher, and the favorite of many of my fellow law students, for several reasons:first of all, he had an excellent command of the law. There wasn't an aspect of it he didn't know.Secondly, he taught in a clear and concise manner. Many of my law professors were "hide-the-ball" types:their clumsy use of the Socratic method left students lost and confused. When Professor Beyer lectured, you knew exactly what point he was trying to make. You didn't have to guess at it.Finally, he was a warm, friendly, humorous guy - very approachable and not at all intimidating, a rare trait in a lawyer. This book is everything Professor Beyer is: knowledgeable, approachable, and clear. And as a rookie attorney in the field of wills, trusts, and estate planning, this is the book I turn to first and foremost as a reference. That said, I believe this book is most appropriate for law students, paralegals, practicing attorneys, and others who need a serious grasp of wills, trusts, and estate planning law. Those who want a simple, cursory introduction may find themselves overwhelmed by all the legal jargon - as was mentioned by a previous reviewer.

3-0 out of 5 stars explanatory but too much jargon

4-0 out of 5 stars Great intro to law text
As an MBA student, this text was a great introduction to business law.The actual cases proved to be quite interesting and illustrative of the topics discussed throughout the text. You must go through the text before reading the cases or you may be confused, but the terms are so well laid out that once familiar with them, the cases are quite easy to understand and you are able to brief them yourself! Will serve as an excellent reference and I have decided to keep it in my library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!
I could not be happy with the speed and condition of this item.I am very pleased with the purchase that I made, and look forward to doing business with them if needed.Thank you for the wonderful, and speedy service.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Introductory Business Law Text!
Unlike the previous post, I found this book to be extremely helpful as a business student. If one is looking for a strictly "law" book this is obviously not the correct choice. For business professionals and students, however, it is an excellent introduction to the field of business law. The cases are in fact quite helpful and are not too long as stated in the previous post. The "briefs" provide a good insight into the heart of the issue at hand and are quite useful. They are much better than fabricated examples, as they are up to date, and add a 'reality' element to the text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Retire Secure-Solid Advice For All
Reading "Retire Secure" will not alone make you rich. However, if you read and follow Mr. Lange's advice, you will build wealth and then protect it to the fullest extent possible. The book outlines a very clear path to maximize savings using the most effective vehicle available to you. Then it goes on to provide a thorough roadmap to minimizing your tax consequences and maximizing your after tax returns. Finally the book provides several different strategies for passing along wealth to your heirs while once again factoring in the greedy hands of Uncle Sam. The author not only provides you with the theory, as many financial planners do, but backs up his recommendations with solid proofs and confirms them with amusing case studies. Overall this book is an excellent source for information on the use of retirement funds for wealth building and hopefully inheritance to pass on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for Advisors and Investors
James Lange's Retire Secure, offers great techniques to help persons planning for retirement. He is on the right track - to postpone and minimize the impact of taxes - in order to maximize the retiree's money and extend the spendable income. This book makes a valuable contribution to the field of personal finance - for both the consumers and the professional advisors who serve them.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Roadmap
I find James Lange's book to be excellant. When we want to go someplace we're not familiar with, who uses MapQuest? Why? It gives us the starting point and the ending point. This book gives so much valuable information. I'll be retiring in 10 to 11 years, so my interest is quite serious. I stumbled accross Mr. Lange's website and find that to also be a fine source of information. As a 'boomer' I'm amazed at what the internet has done for our culture i.e. sharing of information.

Editorial Review

In America, when somebody does you wrong, you take 'em to court. W. R. Grace and Beatrice Foods had been dumping a cancer-causing industrial solvent into the water table of Woburn, Massachusetts, for years; in 1981, the families of eight leukemia victims sued. However, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Synchronicity???
Is this book, a worthwhile read, an attempt to close the book on shady goings-on in Woburn of the 1960s?Were some children in this case treated for leukemia using cutting edge techniques of the day, such as bone marrow transplants, and some of those children survived only to be tormented because of their unexpected survival?
4-0 out of 5 stars Just a an ending, not a beginning!
This is a necessary book which does a public service by highlighting the repercussions of poor environmental stewardship. It does not, however, indicate the extent of a broader mystery behind the events in Woburn and Middlesex county itself, respectively.
5-0 out of 5 stars An inside track on the legal process

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite study aids
I love these Examples & Explanations books. The rules make sense when you can get decent examples, and these books do a good job of that.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
Great book. Definitely doesn't cover every area of Torts that you're going to need to know for your course (IIED, false imprisonment, etc.). Get Gilberts or Emanuels or just use your class notes on this stuff though. Also: if your professor has a slightly different view on the rules (even if it's just a difference in semantics) use your prof's rules when working the Examples. Writing out your answers to the Examples throughout the semester will solidify your knowledge and you won't have to struggle to memorize the elements of each rule at the end of the semester.

4-0 out of 5 stars BE CAREFUL WHICH EDITION YOU BUY!
The book is great as it is, no doubt, but the older editions do not have Products Liability in them, which is VITAL to your studies. Make sure you get the latest edition, which has two chapters on PL.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction to Business Law
This was the textbook for an introductory course in business law I took. It does a great job at laying the groundwork of the US legal system and explodes many common myths. A large amount of material is covered clearly and consisely. The chapters on contracts and constitutional law alone are worth the price of the book. The authors do a good job hitting the high points and not getting bogged down in details that are inappropriate for an introductory course.
5-0 out of 5 stars Legal & Regulatory Environment of Business
Great Book. Better than the other Legal Business books. Great cases. Easy to read and understand. Great for Business law. Other books are more about law instead of business law, Not this book. You be the Judge DVD-Rom is great similation of legal business situations. Book is great for learning Business Law.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative, enlightening, and well-organized.
Like many Americans, I didn't know much about our country's principles of government or its legal system. This book helped me to become more knowledgeable about both.I admit, this is not reading I would choose to curl up with in front of the fire; this was part of a requirement for my MBA.However, I will remember what I've learned in this text long after my class ends. Having previously been clueless about the legal system, it is now exhilarating to read about, say, how the nine US Supreme Court Justices are dealing with the aftermath of the Gore vs. Bush debacle and actually understand what is going on.The chapters are well-organized and easy to understand. There are even helpful study tips and ways to brief a legal case in the beginning of the text. After completing this book, I not only feel better equipped to handle business decisions, but also feel empowered and enlightened for better understanding our great country. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Gold Standard
I used this book in grad school--it is the gold standard in MMPI coverage, clinical uses, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for MMPI-2'ers.
I have used this text for my graduate class I teach on the MMPI-2.It isan excellent text. Very comprehensive. My graduate students found it veryhelpful in learning to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of theMMPI-2.Awareness of any tests strengths/limitations is crucial to theappropriate use of all psychological tests.Learning to appropriatelyutilize this test as part of a psychological screening or battery iscritical for the training of all clinical psychologists.Graham does anexcellent job of presenting the information in a readable andunderstandable format.

5-0 out of 5 stars An updated edition to a classic guide and text to the MMPI
This is a superbly useful, updated version of his prior work on MMPI-2 interpretation. As always, Dr. Graham hits the bullseye for clinical usefulness and readability. His interpretive strategy is thorough andpragmatic. While others base their interpretative statements on clinicallore and antedotes, Dr. Graham backs up his interpretations with research. 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
Well written, easy to understand with loads of advice and comfort for those going through the challenges of a custody battle. The author shares some of her own experiences and leaves you with a feeling of hopeful optimism.I consider this a must-read for any parent going through a divorce.I thought that her comments on dressing for court and behavior during separation were common sense, but perhaps there are some readers who would need to understand better how their image and demeanor affect a judge's perception of them as a parent.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone trying to gain custody of their children.

5-0 out of 5 stars What Every Woman Should Know About Divorce And Cusody
This is the most thorough and informative book on divorce issues that I have read.As a divorce attorney, I am always curious to know what other attorneys are thinking. Ms. Smith's perspective and commentary mirror much of my own experiences and conclusions. The book is easy to read and filled with relevant, realistic examples and practical advice.I highly recommend this book to both nonlawyers, who have a reason to learn about this subject and to lawyers so they can refine and expand their knowedge of the divorce process.

1-0 out of 5 stars You would be a dummie to buy this book.
Open this book and you will see that it is formatted and reads like every other textbook you have read since college. The writing makes no attempt to reduce the complexities of the subject. It simply reiterates all the language you never understood in the first place. As the author of "Everything A Baby Boomer Should Know -- An Insider's Guide to Estate Planning," I suggest you compare my book which honestly and easily explains the tools of the probate system, to this book which is impossible to understand if you have no background on the subject.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its okay but I wanted more-specific information
This book gives you general information about Estate Planning but It left me wanting more. I was surprise that it didnt mention anything about AB trust. I wish it would have given the upside and donwnside to each options of wills or trust.
2-0 out of 5 stars They weren't kidding when they said "for dummies"
I didn't find this book helpful at all.It just barely skims the surface, and usually concludes with "make sure you talk to your accountant/attorney/estate planner."If I intended to talk to all those folks, I wouldn't waste my time reading this book in the first place. Most of what this book covers could be learned by snooping around the web - and in many cases you can learn more that way.It defines the terminology, but even that is often inadequate. I suggest you check this book out from the local library, and then if you find it to be a useful resource go ahead and buy it.I wish I had done that - I don't feel this book has enough information to really qualify as a reference book. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars An easy read, but a bit out of date
I had to read this for a class and found it easy to read, but really out of date.Although revised in December of 2001, there is so much it left out in terms of changes in technology and 911 (and yes, these things do apply to Economics!) that I wonder how thoroughly it was updated. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on employment law out there!
This book makes a dry subject interesting and understandable. It is packed full of useful information. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Strengthen your legal vocabulary in seriousness and fun
This is an excellent resource for law students, paralegals, legal secretaries and law clerks. Each chapter shows the words in use and gives real-world explanations of the terms. At the end of each chapter there are true/false, matching, fill-in-the-blank, and crossword puzzle exercises to test your knowledge. This book covers just about all the major areas of law:criminal, civil, torts, bankruptcy, property, wills/estate... you name it.I swear by this book - it really helped me in pre-law.At many colleges, this book is standard. ...
