Very helpful book on touchy subject
This book deals with the emotional side of the will - how to pass on your values and feelings as well as your money.How to discuss your will (or not) with your heirs beforehand, and how to write it so there will be no wrangling afterwards.
Avoid Problems Down the Road
As a legal aid hotline attorney and also the owner of a medical supply business, I frequently hear about the stress, conflict and heartache that careless estate planning can cause in families.This excellent book presents individuals planning their estates with excellent suggestions and issues to think about to avoid future problems.There is a lot more to estate planning than dollars and cents and this insightful and thoughtful book helps make important, difficult decisions easier.I will recommend this book to my customer and clients.

The Good Will helps create a holistic will
Creating the Good Will is an eye opener. As an elder care columnist/speaker/author I've read and written about this subject many times. As a veteran of 20 years of caregiving, I've had to deal with a lot of end-of-life paperwork. Elizabeth Arnold has written the most readable, well-rounded and compassionate book on end-of-life planning that I've read, and she's made it enjoyable, as well. Her gift for stories, which I believe are the best teachers, makes this book come alive. I recommend it to anyone interested in the subject - which we all should be.

Great start for writing a Partnership Agreement
This book gives you an excellent foundation for writing a partnership agreement.It saves tremendously on the cost of having a lawyer write the whole agreement.We just had to use a lawyer to insure nothing was omitted.

Excellant Book,but......
I read the book and found it very helpful with my plan to form a real estate parnership. I found the examples at the end of each subjet very helpful. However, it seems the authors went to a great length to demonstrate to readers that they are NOT gender biased, to the point where one would find himself sometimes cringing. Their objective could have been attained better by replacing all the He, she, him, her, with "he/she" or "him/her", and let each readers to choose the jender for themselves.

All-Encompassing Book on Partnerships
I found this title to be all-encompassing if you're considering entering into a partnership - whether it's an existing partnership or whether you're starting up a new partnership.In fact, I purchased another title on thissame topic and I ended up returning it because I didn't see where itcovered anything that wasn't already covered in The Partnership Book.Ifeel much more comfortable entering into a partnership after reading thisbook as I feel that I now have the necessary information to make properdecisions. Excellent Text
Simply an excellent little book, concise and written in a very clear format. Indeed, not making just one of the many mistakes the author comments upon could save your business thousands in taxes, fines and penalties.
Too much exaggeration
The contents in this book are not really new. The author tends to exaggerate things quite a bit. Examples in the book may be true, but grossly sensationalized and hardly applicable to any real world case.

Great book - concise and helpful
This book outlines 76 ways that small businesses often get in trouble with the IRS. A lot of these mistakes are very tempting to make -- in fact, onecan argue that it's the tax law that's the problem in many cases, not thebusiness practice. Leaving money to kids is stupid.It will make them lazy and profligate.Instead, leave your money to charities.Like the ones run by the people who write glowing endorsements of this book.Whatever you do, don't leave money to any wicked organizations that promote abortion or free thought.
Recommended but not without its problems
"Splitting Heirs" is an appropriate title for this book and the problems it deals with.So often people fail to plan for their eventual death and everything they have spent years accumulating ends up in the hands of the court system, lawyers, and others.Even when they do plan it often ends up in the hands of their children who may or may not be mature enough to handle the windfall.The parable of the prodigal son often comes to mind as children squander their inheritance. This book can be read in a night but contains wisdom for a lifetime.Expecting another book about estate planning, I was pleased to find only the essential data needed to introduce the subject and the bulk of the content about thoughtfully (and prayerfully) making the six decisions about wealth transfer.This is the first book I have read by Ron Blue but I suspect it is one of his best.Intertwined between the chapters teaching us about the six decisions of wealth transfer are sole searching questions, historical examples of heros in philanthropy, and humorous cartoons introducing each chapter. Understand U.S. Immigration Law through examples.
The most striking thing about this book is the extensive use of examples throughout the book. One of the main problems in understanding the law is trying to figure out how it applies to your particular situation. The use of examples is one of the best ways for an author to explain the various aspects of any law. In this book, the author did such a fantastic job that I have picked up the book at various times in the last decade to figure out how I can solve my own particular immigration problem and I was able to fix it very fast. He does such a great job that I got carried away by the confidence the book inspires and decided to handle one of the more difficult immigration situations myself. It worked out alright but in hindsight, I should have taken the assistance of a lawyer to make things easier for myself. A must read

Very usefull and well written
This is an excellent book for anyone going through the hurdles of US Immigration. The author covers all bases and still keeps the text easy to read and easy to reference. I am a legal assistant and I use this book constantly! It gives you great strategies to work more efficiently while getting better results. I had no idea how many legal resources there are online! This book tells you which sites are the most reliable and easy to use. It also demystifies annotated legal codes, case digests, state reports and many other research tools. But most importantly it is extremeley well organized and easy to use. I wish that I had discovered this book when I was a student!

Take it from me, this is the best book
All the dueling reviews below would have you wonder about the quality of both "Divorce and Money" books, so as an experiment I got both. It's pretty clear that this book (Nolo's) is the better one, hands down. The difference was evident in just minutes. Everything's presented in easy to read verbiage, the charts are easy to use, and the forms and checklists were really handy. Helped me and my ex make the split easier than I expected, frankly. Thank you for this book!!

My new favorite book!
Okay I might be exagerating but I did love this book. A friend recommended it after my husband and I decide to "part ways." I accidently picked up the other book with the same title and was not so thrilled with all the Get A Attorney advice, but then I realized my mistake and got this version -- it's SO helpful. It almost took me by the hand and showed me how to be less emotional than I would be when making decisions affecting how to split our property and bills up, and how to figure out child support.

My eyes glazed over.........FELT LIKE I WAS IN LATIN CLASS!!
Read both books and all the reviews of 2 books with basically the same name and if you want more information in a MUCH MORE user friendly, readable (in English) format at 1/2 the price buy the other book by Smith, Divorce and Money Everything you need to know.I read a review that the Smith book just wants you to hire expensive lawyers.NOTHING could be further from the truth. No matter what, you need a lawyer and this book tells you the same thing. It doesn't mean you have to be stupid! As a normal, middle class guy with a college education and MY OWN BUSINESS this book makes you feel like you are in Latin Class again.Do your self a favor and not only buy Smith's book on Money get her book on Children.......you will save lots of time and stress. ...
