This order was received earlier than expected and has proved a useful reference guide.

Issues In The Workplace
The issues covered include the Family and Medical Leave Act, harassment and discrimination, drug testing, the Americans with Disabilities Act, unions, worker's compensation, dress codes and worker's rights.
Better than most other offerings
First, remember that the book was written in 1997. It's dated.It also appears to have been organized by dropping the sections together from around ten feet above the pages while standing in a strong wind - that is to say, the format and sequencingis not what it could be these days.

good reference
This is a great book to own if you have or are thinking of starting an LLC. I've used many of the forms. The layout of the book is well-organized. Forms are easy to find on the CD. The tips in the book are very useful. I reference this book often. Highly recommended.

Good Resource Guide
This book provided me with the essential information an LLC owner needs to avoid trouble with the IRS and the courts. This book contains a lot of practicle information, useful forms and many real life examples. It covers meeting minutes preparation, record keeping and the updated Federal 2003 Tax Act. This is a must book for any LLC owner!

Can't imagine many people need this book.
Generally I have to say I was a little disappointed with this book. To be fair it lives up to its claims that it will basically help you run LLC meetings and provides forms for most basic LLC functions EXCEPT creating one.It provides no business advice and no tax advice to help with serious beginning operation issues. I was hoping for a book that would offer advice and successful strategies for managing money in the LLC and discuss tax strategies and so on. Advice, that would help me operate an LLC with the legal documents to back up the advice. That is not what this book contains.Read more

Practical and readable
I've been a CEO for 17 years, and recently became involved with another startup company. Although there was an attorney on the board, I wasn't certain that the corporate form that had been selected was optimal. This book was recommended by the Stanford Center for Entrepreneurship as a great resource, so I picked it up. It has turned out to be very valuable. After reading the chapter on corporate form we switched from an LLC to a C Corp. I found myself advising some pretty smart lawyers on this issue.
Entrepreneur's Guide to Business Law)
This is an excellent guide for the do-it-yourself entrepreneur. It is a step by step guide for getting your business started.It also addresses the methods for getting good service from legal firms and others and how they work.Overall, I really enjoyed this text and would highly recommend it to others.

slow delivery, broken and dirty book!
The seller sold me a broken and dirty book which was claimed as a new one through a very slow shipping method.

An excellent book of Business Law
I bought this book a week ago. I am a foreign-educated lawyer and I havedecided to compare Business Law of my country with Business Law in USA(learned at the US colleges and universities). I was pleasently suprisedand also very satisfied with this buy. I appreciate very much the completecoverage of business law topics - especially integration of ethics, socialresponsibility, economics, historic issues into the presentation ofbusiness law topics as well as international topics. The book is writtenusing clear language without problems of understanding as well as fornon-native English readers.It was a perfect idea to include TOTALAWCD-ROM which provides access to 30 updated acts and statutes. I appreciateit. I would say the book worth its price and I highly recommend it toeverybody who is in any connection with business law. More balanced view than many treatments.
From Virginia Postrel's pollyannish embrace of technology to Reg Whitakers musings of government devolving power (the state withering away-an old notion yet to be validated by experience) to Jerry Furland's utterlyterrifying vision, this latest entry, "Technology and Privacy: The NewLandscape" at least allows that the jury is still out on this issue. Except for Furland, ("Transfer-the end of the beginning")eachfalls short of addressing what one can "DO" with this newtechnology and actually provides a credible blueprint in novel form.Irecommend each of these authors, but I put my money on Furland being right.

An overview
This book is somewhat slanted toward "technology is bad" but not excessively so. The focus is on political issues and opinions. How well one likes these chapters depends on one's political leaning; few of thechapters manage to be balanced. Jack Kennedy
The Reynolds book is a text used at the University of North Dakota Space Students graduate program for Space Law. I have found the book a pleasure to read as one who seeks to gain knowledge in this ever-growing niche field of law. Reynolds and Merges address the topic in suffivent detail to educate the reader. The comlexities of space law is emerging in this decade. I suspect that Mr. Reynolds will be compelled to write a new edition before "the decade is out."

As a law student, I am very interested in space law and thought that Iwould have a hard time finding anything on the subject.I was wrong!Thisbook provides an excellent summary of the whole field; it's also clearerand better-written, not to more interesting, than most legal casebooks. A Fascinating View of the Supreme Court
For those of us who primarily hear about Supreme Court cases through the news or at school, it is easy to forget that the actual Court decision that emerges from a case is the complex interaction of nine individuals interpreting the law and the facts.This book explores in fascinating detail how the Supreme Court's landmark decisions are very much a human endeavor reflecting the different justices' world views.While Faigman uses the justices' understanding of science (or sometimes misunderstanding) in making their legal decisions as his primary prism to examine the Court, the book is anything but simply a "law and science" book.To me, it was much more about how the justices bring their individual strengths and weaknesses, their hopes and fears as human beings, to deciding cases with profound implications for society.I always had assumed, for example, that Justice Taney, who decided the infamous Dred Scott decision that saw slaves as property to be owned, must have been a bigoted villain.While Taney by no means emerges from Faigman's telling as a hero, he does become much more of a three-dimensional figure, one who had deep personal qualms about slavery but who, in a terribly misguided way, thought he was saving the Union by his opinion in Dred Scott.In chapter after chapter, Faigman similarly shows how Court decisions that we have all heard of, like Brown v. Board of Education, are much more than simply decisions reflecting "The Law," but reflect individual justices' struggles with changing scientific and social understandings. I don't know if the author meant the title "Laboratory of Justice" to have anothermeaning beyond looking at how the Court tries to adapt the law as science changes our understanding of the world around us, but as I read the book, I did find myself thinking of the justices not as the scientists running the "laboratory of justice" but as part of the experiment itself going on in the laboratory of justice. This is a superb book for anyone who wants to gain insight into the Court's workings as told by someone with a keen eye for interesting facts that are insightful and entertaining at the same time. ...
