This material gives agreat deal of stimulus to any humanitarian anthropological interests about gypsies.Written in language that a lay person can understand, it is stimulating and interesting.In fact, I find it difficult to put it down.

The history of how such laws were formulated makes for an involving read
Muslim legal science is a science connected to yet separate from Islamic faith, and THE SPIRIT OF ISLAMIC LAW delves into these connections and differences, examining the main features of Muslim jurisdiction and law, divine texts which are used as legal foundations, interpretations in the attempt to capture the devine as it relates to legal matters, and more. Author Bernard Weiss is a professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Utah: his treatise is both detailed yet accessible to college-level readers studying Islamic traditions. The history of how such laws were formulated makes for an involving read.

Five Interesting Profiles of Chicago Law Professors
This is quite a substantial book comprised of five profiles of law professors who taught (at one time or another but principally in the 1960's) at the law school of the University of Chicago.The five are Edward H. Levi, who served not only ultimately as President of the University, but also Ford's Attorney General; Harry Kalven, Jr., the distinguished First Amendment scholar; Karl Llewellyn, a progenitor of "legal realism" and the UCC; Philip Kurland, the bombastic Frankfurter disciple and master of constitutional law; and Kenneth Culp Davis, the guru of administrative law. The author has not only done exceptional research on each individual, but apparently had personal contact with them while either a student of the law school or in other contexts.This makes for a highly informative approach.

Kinship Care, the Best First Option
Because of Jeanne Sinclair-Krause's book "Remember Cynthia Rose" Cynthia Rose will know that her family loved her and fought for her. Many children will never know that anyone in their birth family cared. The great problems of the world are horrific, but they should not distract us from the personal dramas that leave dying families and wounded children. It is terrible when a family loses an adult member. It is criminal if a good, loving family loses the right and responsibility to care for the children of that adult. Often the cohesion of the core family doesn't survive the multiple loss. Social service agencies and community leaders will eventually understand what has happened and have to answer for the loss this child and her family have endured. As states are awarded funds for proper adoptions they should be fined for improper ones. Read this cautionary story and add your voice to the choir by talking to others about this problem and contacting your legislature for changes. I anxiously watch for more to come from this social detective.
