A must read
If you're interested in attending law school, if you're interested in the story of the civil rights movement, if you're looking for inspiration, if you're in search of a calling, if you enjoy drama or comedy, or if you simply enjoy a good book -- read Crusaders in the Courts.I was moved, outraged and inspired.Jack Greenberg brings the journey of these brave men and women (including himself) to life.The book is written very well and it is very accessible.If you're a teacher, tell your students to read this book.If you're a parent, your children should read it.The book puts the movement in perspective and introduces a whole new generation to the wonders of a band of lawyers committed to changing the future.

Memoir of a hero of the civil rights movment
This book is the only one written by a lawyer who argued in Brown v. Board of Education. Before his 28th birthday, Jack Greenberg argued the first of more than 40 cases before the Supreme Court of the United States. Starting as Thurgood Marshall's assistant, he became Marshall's chosen successor as head of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. His cases involved sit-ins and freedom riders, school segregation, capital punishment and affirmative action.He represented Martin Luther King in Birmingham and in his march from Selma to Montgomery. Illuminating tales of wrongdoing
I rate this book very highly indeed. Whilst it is clearly targeted at lawyers and law students, James Kelley has not gone down the traditional route of producing a legal ethics/professional responsibility casebook - and his book is all the more likely to be read from cover to cover for that.Read more

Awesome Thriller
This is an awesome, literate, hip, unusual thriller featuring Dan Shepherd, a somewhat hapless, cynical criminal defense attorney in New Mexico who has one hell of a sense of humor and is an expert in self-deprecation while at the same time is endearing to the reader. It moves fast and the plot zigs and zags to keep interest. Miller establishes himself in this, his first novel, as a major writer and a force to be reckoned with in the world of mystery. Human, humorous, pungent and gritty, you'll be charmed and engaged from the first page. I just loved it.

Very Good Read
I purchased this book from Jonathan himself, he was signing books in Greeley, CO after a major blizzard.I thought it sounded like a book I might like to read and I was amazed that I liked it more than I thought I would.I think I will read another one of his books.I have recommended it to a few people that I know.I would recommend it to all.

Good by itself but it's great if you are from the area
I picked this book up while in Las Cruces.The author, Jonathan Miller, was signing copies and I figured, why not?I read it and was amazed because I knew all of the locations he was writing of because Miller is a New Mexican native, or at least lived here long enough to write convincingly about the area.The main character is almost the lawyer side of Tony Hillerman's Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn, not necessarily a Native American but all are deeply enrooted in the Southwest.Pick this book up if you want a great taste of local color, but it is a must read if you are from the area. ...
