2-0 out of 5 stars Little value...but $30 may be worth it.
The pictures and "instant facts" made the cases much easier to remember.HOWEVER: When I reviewed for finals and used these case briefs to refresh in my mind cases I had read, I discovered MANY critical typos. For example, in several cases, the synopses labeled the wrong parties as "P" (the plaintiff). We law students love to throw money at anything we hope will give us an edge. And I suppose any cost is justified if viewed from the proper perspective. This $30 book should increase your understanding of your $15,000 semester roughly 0.2%.It's simple math and economics.Ha ha.Not a bad book if you run out of time to study...otherwise stick to Aspen Law's Examples and Explanations.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of those style books that ranscebds its genre.
I'm a lawyer who is considered a wordsmith by colleagues and judges. This is one of the most important books I've ever encountered.I was exposed to it in my first law school year's writing class, and its lessons have remained with me since.Banish the passive voice! (unless deliberately and thoughfully chosen and used). This is not merely a key to fluidity in writing, but in a sense a moral imperative.Actions are attributable to actors - they don't simply occur. If you're asserting an action took place, you and your reader should know who or what you claim set it in motion. This necessitates intellectual rigor and clarity. Also, I remember and have employed for twenty-five years Wydick's apt metaphor that good legal writing is like fine cabinetmaking: the skill of the craftsman is shown by the crafted joints not requiring glue, just as the quality of a piece of prose is shown by its lack of reliance on "glue words" (read the book).I've used the lessons of Wydick's brief book as a lawyer, writer and writing teacher.I've given it to colleagues, non-lawyers and young relatives.Their writing uniformly improved. ... Attn all students! Amazon promises to send books by a specific date then changes the dates without your consent. Trying to get a refund is a nightmare. Be prepared to get stuck without the book and still get the bill. Customer service is outsourced to India and is no help even if you could understand them. 4 wks and counting and still no promised refund. This not the only time this has happened. The issue is not with the seller it is Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the series!
I'm a law student and a big Nutshell fan. This is definitely one of the best Nutshells in the series. It's clear, it's organized, and it covers a broad array of issues in corporate governance and operation. I think it would make a better text than the bulky casebooks we're forced to carry around. It's a must-have for law students, aspiring corporate lawyers, and anyone needing a quick reference on general corporate law.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nicely Done.
If you are looking for a short, understandable compendium of how the US Constitution evolved, then this is the book for you. Carol Berkin has done a very good job of putting these critical deliberations, the pros and the cons, forward in layman's terms. Better yet, the prose is clear, crisp and incisive. This is a succinct volume in which every word counts, so you will probably want to read it through more than once.
4-0 out of 5 stars Not Brilliant but Worth the Read
Like so many elements of history, there is rampant ignorance or misunderstanding among the American public regarding the origins of our Constitution.Sadly, a significant majority surely have no concept whatsoever of the failed initial attempt at a United States government.More significantly, among the historically literate outside academic circles, there has been a common misperception of our Framers as a set of omniscient statesmen who shared a clear view of the ideal government and crafted a structure that remains unchanged in its essentials to this day.The purpose of Berkin's book is, through a focus on the papers of constitutional convention delegates, to provide insight into the reality behind these myths.5-0 out of 5 stars an engaging and important book

4-0 out of 5 stars Really good study aid
This is a great study aid for all first year law students. Each of the over 600 flash cards asks and answers questions designed to assist in learning first year law school torts. Each section of the flash cards (e.g., nuisance) starts with cards setting forth the black letter law (the elements) of most of the common law torts from assault to malicious prosecution. These cards are followed with flash cards presenting short fact patterns designed to test your understanding of the specific issues concerning those black letter torts. They are very effective in helping the student to focus his or her thinking process.Informative, fun and immaginative.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Law Made Easy
Great study aid to use along with your class torts textbook.Emanuel boils down the law to the essentials and includes a summary outline in the beginning of the book for easy review and study. You get the law in a simple, concise way, saving you the trouble of trying to distill the law yourself from hundreds of convoluted, wordy opinions.Emanuel saved me from stressing out before midterms and gave me a reasonable grade. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Way to Go Sav
This book is super-great in every way.The forms are pretty darned good, but mostly, the book itself is exactly the right thickness to level up my dining room table. So when I'm not whipping out some quick construction contract form stuff, I can enjoy a meal without the table wobbling at all. The cover is colorful too- my pet ferret likes that. Highly recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat helpful
For the most part, there is nothing this book can teach you that you won't find in your casebook, but the problems are good practice. A lot of the information is helpful, but I don't know if you can trust all of the answers. My study group and I have found various confusing mistakes within and it has cost us valuable study time. 5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and well-writen
Probably the best book on Contract Theory I know. Very rigorous but with the posibility of a second non-mathematical reading. The conceptualization of most examples and motivations in terms of buyer-seller limits the scope to economists.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous contract theory book
I really liked this book -- it's very clear and covers a breadth of material.I have two complaints: the notation is sometimes less clear than it could be, and secondly, I think some things could be made clearer using monotone methods (a la Topkis) and the Milgrom-Segal envelope theorems. But other than that, I'd say it's a fabulous book, going over a lot of material with good examples, and building its way up from simple illustration to general theory. It's more expensive than the competition, but it's worth it; trust me, I'd know -- I bought the competitors too and then returned them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional
Despite more than 20 years of research there are not many books out there on contract theory.Laffont & Martimort and Salanie are perhaps the most widely read ones. What distinguishes this book from others is its comprehence coverage of modern contract theory: unlike the others, it allocates sizable portions on multilateral/multiagent/dynamic/incomplete frameworks, which until now only had to be learned by reading journal articles. This book picks out the most important and influential models and present them in depth, while not losing sight of other streams of literature. My only complaint is the book is not exactly user-friendly in some places.I had to spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out some missing steps in derivations.Usually these were resolved in second reading, so it is not a major issue (reminded me of reading quantum mechanics...)The benefit of having a single definitive source of modern contract theory (as opposed to flipping through hundreds of journal articles) is enormous for a student like me who is new to the subject.I suggest reading Salanie along with it.Salanie is more readable and short, and these two complement each other very well. ...
