3-0 out of 5 stars not a good predictor of actual score
I used this book mainly for the sample tests--but I found that I was scoring about 10 points worse on them than I was on actual, previously used LSATs or ones in other books.I don't think they use practice questions from LSAC, instead making them up (which does lower the price, but still...)

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent studying tips
Pass Key to the LSAT provides good/basic study tips and guidelines for the LSAT. This book is recommended for its information, affordability, and user-friendly layout.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Deal
This book is much cheaper than any of the others out there. It is also smaller and lighter, making that much easier to carry around. There are three tests with answers explained. I would recommend getting 10 Actual LSAT Tests first, but if you really want more practice, or to use this as a warm up to 10 Actual LSAT Tests or something like that, then this is a a fantastic bargin. The tests are slightly easier, in my oppinion, than 10 Actual LSAT Tests, so just keep that in mind. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars An effective priming tool, but don't use it by itself
Kaplan's LSAT prep book is an effective priming tool to those interested in taking the exam, but it shouldn't be relied upon by itself. Being a horrible standardized test taker, I appreciated the full package of the book -- Kaplan devotes a quarter of the pages to test-taking strategies, another quarter on exam-day details and the law school application/admissions process, and the final half to practice tests. The book is written in a very clear and informative style that contains quite a few effective strategies for the "completely ignorant" LSAT student. Anyone who has no idea what the LSAT is all about will surely find this to be a great primer when starting a study plan. Yet, as another reviewer suggested, I also have the feeling that their Kaplan prep course reserves most of the best tricks for those willing to fork over the cash. 1-0 out of 5 stars Practice Makes Perfect

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for us procrastinaters...
I agree with earlier reviewers that old practice LSATs are probably the best way to prepare.BUT, if you are presured for time as I was, this book works great for trying to cram in some studying in the month before your test date.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great capstone to your LSAT review
If anything, I found many questions in this book to be *harder* than what I saw on the LSAT (I took it earlier this year).I think that this is best used after you've purchased some old LSATs and gotten into the rhythm of practicing the questions.Other than that, good guide and worth the price.

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't use only this book
This book works great as an in-depth review of what all the other review books tell you to do.Each chapter gives a brief (as in 10 page) summary of some of the skills you may need and some of the questions you may encounter. However, the list of skills and techniques is by no means comprehensive (and I personally found the recommended techniques for logic games very inefficient and confusing compared to every other technique for logic games that I've tried), so if you are looking for a "How to" approach to the LSAT, this book is not your best bet (I recommend Nova's Master the LSAT book instead). On the other hand, it does gives you some succinct tips, and works great if you are trying to cram in some studying in the month before the test.

3-0 out of 5 stars Extreme LSAT studying
This book is one of the LSAT materials no longer for sale new. It contains old LSATs (old, as in before December 1995). The value of these tests is limited; if you were to study only three previous LSATs it would be best to take three of the newest LSATs. If you're doing all the old LSATs available then this book is one of the materials you'll need.
5-0 out of 5 stars VITAL for LSAT preparation
Obtain as many copies of Official LSATs as you have time to take under testing conditions and to extensively then review and analyze your EVERY response, regardless of whether you answered with a correct or incorrect answer choice.Take the LSAT ONCE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tests & More Tests...
I started studying for the LSAT using Princeton Review's "Crackingthe LSAT" which only contains two full length tests. One of thebenefits of purchasing this book is that you can continue to use thePrinceton Review's (or any other test prep)guidelines and pointers whiletesting your knowledge on these actual exams. I found re-testing myself tobe one of the most beneficial aspects of preparing for the LSAT. As theysay, practice makes perfect... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars There are better books
I have used this book and the ARCO "LSAT-GRE Logic Workbook".The ARCO book is worth the money ..., the Princeton review book is not worth the money. The ARCO book is considered the best book for the the analytical reasoning section. The methods in the Princeton review book, unnecessarily complicate the analytical section.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Product
If analytical section is your Achilles heel, this book will help. This book has a good collection of questions graduated with respect to level of difficulty (approximately 150 questions in total). It exposes you to a wide variety of questions (both in terms of type as well as in level of difficulty) that you may face on the GRE. The answers are clearly explained. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This book was fantastic. It clearly explained the games portion, reiforces the approach and is very well organized. Very good study guide if you are having problems witht he games. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this book
Other reviewers are correct in their analysis that this book is long on pop drivle and short on practical techinques that will help you get the score you need on the LSAT.While they offer techniques on how to go about disecting a problem, they fail miserably at giving decent examples.
1-0 out of 5 stars Long on chatting, but short on technique
I bought this book for $39.95 from Joseph Cooke Booksellers. I thought since it was Princeton Review, that it would be an excellent book to study with. However, I found it was a sham. The book wastes too much time attempting to be "hip" and chatty when the book does little in teaching your actual technique or skills that can help improve your score. There are a number of times, particularly in the logical games section, where the book will skip vital steps and you will be asking yourself, "How did they get that?" In addition, I would stay away from the practice tests because they are only false confidence boosters. Get actual preptests from LSAC and look elsewhere for test techniques. I would suggest that you look at books for specific parts of the test, rather than a flabby all-in-one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad review book for LSAT
I got this book 2 weeks ago, I am about 3/4 way through the whole book, so I think I am fairly qualified to rate this book now.

1-0 out of 5 stars Trash
Buyer Beware! This book has nothing to do with reality let alone legal reasoning. As a partner at a major law firm, I would urge potentially interested readers to stay clear of this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny-and-useful!
This book is worth having simply so you can quote real opinions written in the style of Genesis or Mark Twain. It also points out amusing cases -- talking cats leap to mind -- that might otherwise be buried by their more serious brethren. The chapters on how the court systems work, what memoranda should look like, and what certain legal terms mean are easy to understand, and it's useful to have them all in one place. I didn't care for the many pages on why law school is run the way it is, but you might be interested.Overall, it's a practical handbook and a great reminder that law is not as serious a business as everyone seems to think.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst book ever!
Most of my complaints with this book have already been articulated by other reviewers, but just in case you need more convincing, I am another very unhappy customer.I bought this at a bookstore and deeply regret not having checked amazon for reviews, because it was a waste of time and money, as well as a detriment to my studying. The errors found were not things that could possibly be just me misunderstanding--they were blatant like the answer & explanation not matching any of the answer options given in the question.I couldn't trust their answers for anything, so I never knew if I was getting problems wrong or they were, so it was completely useless for trying to improve my performance.DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!

1-0 out of 5 stars do not buy this trash!
This is so bad that it will do more harm than good. If this is the best that Harvard students can do, then we should all be able to qualify for Harvard.

1-0 out of 5 stars SHAME ON YOU MC-GRAW-HILL!!!
I am echoing all of the other comments on this book... there are so many errors that it leaves you second-guessing EVERYTHING which equals time wasted.I also agree with a previous remark that it might leave you second-guessing your OWN skills. The last thing you need when you're studying for the LSAT is to feel defeated before you've even begun.Don't buy this book!! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars A very poor choice.
The Princeton Review LSAT book suffers from many deficiencies. Chief among them are poorly constructed, badly worded, or just plain incorrect practice problems. This stems, in large part, from their tendency to generate their own practice problems, ('similar' to LSAT problems), rather than using actual LSAT questions from old exams released by the testing agency.
1-0 out of 5 stars Only if you're bored and desperate. Get Practice Tests 1st.
First--completely ignore the logic games section in thisbook and get "LSAT Logic Games Bible."Second, order 10 ACTUAL LSATs and 10 MORE ACTUAL LSATs from Amazon, and do at least 4 or 5 argument sections and 3 or 4 reading comprehension sections. If you're still desperate enough to buy everything you can concerning LSAT preparation, just to see if you can scrounge up tips from everywhere possible, waste $10 on a used copy if your library doesn't have a Cracking the LSATs (Mine had a 2003 copy).1-0 out of 5 stars Very poorly edited, and just plain wrong at times
The text of the book isn't that bad, although admittedly simple. But the CD, which has 4 of the practice tests on it, is terrible. Some of the questions have missing answer options or leave out essential information that you would need to solve the problem.I spent far too long on this, wondering what I was doing wrong, before I finally realized that it was a problem with the question itself.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
This book is a disappointment. I took a free Kaplan test through my school, and it was the same one in the book. Most of the stuff is pretty explanatory, and you can learn more by getting a general LSAT book (I prefer Princeton Review to Kaplan). You don't get much out of only two tests. I would get the Princeton Review LSAT book and then buy real tests from LSDAS and try to find out why I got them wrong on my own. But believe them when they tell you the LSAT is important. It really opened doors for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kaplan 2 Real LSATs is a big help!
This book is essential for all prospective LSAT takers. It is superior to the LSAT Triple Prep by LSAC because it contains two real LSATs plus full explanations of each answer. The best approach is probably to use the Kaplan book first, and then use the skills you have learned with the Triple Prep tests from LSAC. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Analytical part is awful
The explanation and examples of the analytical part are mediocre at best; the truth is that they are no help at all: they will merely confuse you more. However. the logical/reading comp. sections are not as bad.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your time with this book
You are much better off with Kaplan or Princeton Review. The sample tests that Arco offers are not reflective of the actual LSAT (other books actually use real LSATs)and their explantions of the answers are not veryhelpful. The best prep is to buy the LSAC Triple Prep books.

1-0 out of 5 stars Analytical/logical reasoning help? You won't find it here!
I've wasted 10 of my 30 days to my LSAT with this book.15 years ago I scored in the 97th percentile in the analytical reasoning section of the GRE - I say this only to show that I'm not incapable of doing logicproblems.I expected the book to help me get my somewhat rusty mentalprocesses back up to speed.Instead, I was massivly frustrated by theirmuddy explainations of practice test answers and total lack of help inchoosing the correct answer.Explaining that answer "E" iscorrect, but not why A, B, C, and D are not and what tricks lurk in them isNOT helpful!Buy the Princeton Review's or Kaplan's LSAT book if you needlogic problem help, not this dud. If you're just beginning to prep for the LSATs, this is a great book to start with.No doubt, you will be using several prep books to study for the LSATs.This book compliments other LSAT prep guides. It was insightful re:logic games and reading comprehension.Plus, the book includes 6 exams with explanations for each answer. The exams were extremely helpful.1-0 out of 5 stars Worst LSAT book out there
