3-0 out of 5 stars Games don't recreate the full feel of real LSAT problems
There are approximately 44 original games in the book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wow
This book is amazing! It breaks down the different types of logic games into different sections, gives you the best way to tackle it and then gives you lots of chances to practice. This is a definite buy if you are preparing for the LSAT's.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but too general
I bought this book looking for a detailed method for solving the riddle that are LSAT logic games. Instead, I found a book that can tell me how to identify the types of games, but leaves me without straightforward methods for solving the problems. A better strategy would be to simply do as many of the offical LSAT problems as you can before you take the test.

1-0 out of 5 stars waste of your time
The questions, like other reviewers have mentioned, are jaw-droppingly difficult. Some people might think that it's good to practice with difficult questions so the easier (i.e. REAL lsat questions) questions will be a cakewalk. Not true - the logic provided in the explanations are so convulted and IRRATIONAL that you will second guess yourself on the real test too much. Try the actual LSAT questions, it's better to get 1 or 2 complex questions right rather than 20 easy questions wrong because you over-thought it. I abandoned this book as I was sifting through the Logical Reasoning section, feeling like an idiot and I finally realized that the book itself was the idiot.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended as primary LSAT study guide...
If you'd really like to learn about how the LSAT questions are structured and if you have time to "memorize" the techniques suggested by the book, then "LSAT Workout" could be helpful you. However, if you just want to practice and to get comfortable with the exam, so to speak, I'd recommend getting the study guides with actual previous LSATs instead (try checking them out at the LSAC.org website).(Note: I started studying for the LSAT with this book and then switched to the Official practice tests.)
2-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended as a first book for LSAT study
Even though the questions here are good practice because they are so difficult, the explanations offered are incomplete or unenlightening or both. As a study guide, it is a resounding failure. Some answers are unreasonable and some questions --like one about pushing buttoms to get certain results, and then figuring out how to do the same if one button stops working-- are ridculous because there is no way to answer a question like that in the alloted time unless you are a computer. As such, it has no practical value for the LSAT.

2-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money
save your money and buy a book that really intent to help you on your Series 7 test.

1-0 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK
This book is completely useless. This book could be useful for someone with no prior knowledge on investing BUT it's very unlikely as the person who wrote this book had typos throughout the book. I have a problem with buying a book that says "Series 7 exam prep" and discusses nothing about the exam. Not worth the money spent , i wouldn't even buy it used. PAGE 66 ...the word on the first paragraph should be "manage" not "mange" although at some points of this book i really thought it was in french. So useless.

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Money
This book is absolutely useless. The information provided is not connected in any relevant way to the Series 7 test and does not give any more insight into 'thinking like a stockbroker' than would a copy of Barron's or the Economist. In fact, go buy the latest issue of Barron's, save $15, and get a lot more articles. You can feel almost immediately that this book was made simply to cash in on anxious Series 7 test takers. You do not need this book; it is an expensive and unnecessary way to acquaint yourself with information otherwise available. ... The book "Bar Exam in a Nutshell" is a worthwhile purchase. The book provides a briliant method to identify your weaknesses for both first time takers and repeat examinees called "Forensic IRAC." This alone makes the book worthwhile. In addition, the book gives you a concise overview of the entire bar exam process in conformity with most West Nutshells which give you an overview.

1-0 out of 5 stars Time-wasting if not skill-diminishing
I've read this book for LSAT prep. While the selection of passages is excellent, crafting of questions is simply a bad joke.To be precise, it is mostly the answer choices that makes this book time-wasting, if not skill-diminishing.The answer choices in this book are just not the kind of choices that appear in an actual test.Especially annoying is that many "right" answer choices can be right only after a very very long stretch of logic, which NEVER happens in a real test.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent study tool
This book helps the reader learn the correct way to annotate and outline the paragraphs on the reading comprehension section of the GRE*MCAT*LSAT*GMAT.It was very helpful.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOTWORTH

5-0 out of 5 stars Extreme LSAT studying
The cheaper you can find this book, the better it is.It is a single LSAT PrepTest from February 1997, as such it is considered a modern LSAT (post 1995).The explanation are a little simplified, but still there are some pearls in the explanations.
3-0 out of 5 stars Explanations are Very Basic!
I had to reconsider my review after evaluating the explanations on the games section. On this section, the explanations are not as helpful because there are no illustrated diagrams.Instead, there are short mini-paragraphs that require a bit more effort and time reading into.5-0 out of 5 stars nothing like the real thing
This book gives you several real tests and the corect instructions on howto simulate the real enviroment. You can either prepare for the test in twodifferent ways. 1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time & Money
The Kaplan LSAT 2004 focuses primarily on general LSAT strategies which will raise most student's scores by 1-2 points only, and thats assuming you are completely unfamiliar with the test. For those serious students who are generally familiar with the LSAT and willing to work hard to improve their score Kaplan and the Princeton Review are a complete waste of time and money. In some cases, such as Kaplan's method of solving Reading Comprehension questions, they are even counterproductive and can slow you down. Most students will emerge after studying the Kaplan book feeling confused and still unprepared, as I did. I strongly recommend the PowerScore books. I purchased the PowerScore LSAT Logic Games Bible and I am now able to work almost any logic game the LSAT can throw at me with confidence. I have also just ordered the newly released PowerScore LSAT Logical Reasoning Bible. Both of these books are expensive, they will run you about $90-$100 total but from my experience they are definitly worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it...
This book is only good for those who really have no idea what the LSAT is.There are only a few pages on each section... and they are not all that helpful, they just tell you what kind of questions to expect... not HOW to do well on them. There are some "steps" to approaching each type of question, but I think those will end up slowing you down rather than helping you.I took an (actual) practice test totally blind before I read the book... and took another practice test out of the book... and scored only one point higher.I am relieved to hear that others believe the questions from the Kaplan book are bizarre, because I did okay on the logic game section on the actual practice LSAT (which I took without any preparation) and then, after reading the Kaplan book, totally BOMBED the logic games section in the Kaplan's practice test. Those questions WERE bizarre!1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money
This book is a waste of money. Nothing in it is useful except maybe the introduction to the question types. I suggest that you get the Powerscore Logic Games Bible, Logic Reasoning Bible (Mid August 2004 I believe), and the next 10 actual LSATs, or 10 more actual official Lsats. Read the bibles and take practice tests over and over again. Good Luck. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars To Your Disadvantage With Professor Dave
I purchased this book because of its good reviews. I review now why those reviews are not at all accurate. What then is accurate? Relaxed approach. Proverbs on learning. What is problematic is that the book does not actually deliver on its title! Why are you buying it, after all? The lesson plans offer no concrete strategies that commonsense could not have dictated. I find the advice proffered, while not unhelpful, to be nothing illuminating. The Logic Games section is sadly lacking in efficient methodology, in both diagramming and approach. As well, the answer explanations are at times unsatisfactory, and do keep in mind the practice questions, like the included 3 full-length exams, are not actually from the LSAT. The accompanying audio track is worthless to any rational, thinking being. Compared to other prep texts, this books should be ashamed. Save your money and buy more worthwhile things. Like recycled paper.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much of an "advantage"
The book is nicely laid out but the questions are not, I repeat, are NOT from the LSAT. To get the best preparation possible, get the real questions and drill. In fact, some of the questions in "The LSAT Advantage" leave room for multiple answers.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book will raise your score
If you've read my other reviews, you'll see that I've dissected and used nearly every test preparation book on the market. Though relatively new, LSAT Advantage has quickly moved to the front of the pack as the best LSAT book available.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Poor Choice
The Princeton Review LSAT book suffers from many deficiencies. Chief among them are poorly constructed, badly worded, or just plain incorrect practice problems. This stems, in large part, from their tendency to generate their own practice problems, ('similar' to LSAT problems), rather than using actual LSAT questions from old exams released by the testing agency.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with the CD-ROM!
I found this book to be of very little use, and the CD-ROM was even worse. If you take a diagnostic exam and score 160 or greater, skip this book. While it is an easy read, the concepts are overly simplistic and probably provide you with nothing that you didn't already subconsciously do on your own to achieve the score you did. Also, I tend to be suspect when a book that claims to help you pass the LSAT is chock full of silly typographical errors.2-0 out of 5 stars Overly simplistic
This book is short, overly simplistic, and too focused on tips and tricks that fail to give the reader a true understanding of what is required in order to answer the LSAT questions.Assuming that the reader will not have time to completely read the reading comprehension passages and then urging them to read the questions first (losing even more of the test-taker's time) is one of the ways that this book fails to meet the needs of the student.Luckily, I purchased another prep book that was much more comprehensive and whose authors relied on thorough preparation instead of tricks to increase my confidence and my score. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre..
It was very helpful to have explanations for every question that you do wrong on an actual LSAT. The only problem is that they don't tell you which LSATs they are, and I have a funny feeling it might just be a bunch of LSATs mixed up, which won't give you accurate ratings. 5-0 out of 5 stars kaplan

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Choice
This book does much to unravel the mystery surrounding the LSAT (Law school admission test).Other books I purchased for my upcoming LSAT examination offered little or no detailed information on answers. This book used amazing yet understandable logic and demonstrated a keen knowledge of the average pre-law student's mentality. If you must buy one book for your LSAT, this is it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tips
This book has some great tips found nowhere elese.I have used both Kaplan and Princeton Review, but none provide better strategies than this little book. For example, when finding the answer choice that best strengthens the argument Arco recommends ranking the choices.I think this was a great tip if you are stuck on a question.I actually found more information condensed in this than in any other LSAT book.It cuts out the useless BS found in Princeton Review/Kaplan.
2-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating
This book, though containing some useful strategies, is riddled with errors, and contradictions. After taking a test and reviewing answers, some explanations basically say "these four answers are wrong for these reasons and it's obvious that the last is correct." Having a tremendous amount of formal logic in my background, I can tell you in many cases they are WRONG.I have the seond edition and you'll notice, for example, in the explanation for quesiton 10 on page 99 there is a blatant contradiction between the explanation for answer B and for answer D.B states Cartier-Bension is NOT confrontational (and is the basis for their answer), where D states his relationship WAS confrontational!Huh?Did they proofread??!!
2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time.
Although this book seems to be organized well and offer good tips for the LSAT, the fact that some of the problems do not have correct answers is infuriating. Not only are some of the logic problems so poorly written that there is no correct answer, the solutions to these questions must blatantly ignore the rules of the problem or "solve" them incorrectly to arrive at any answer.(In one problem that asks you to select the answer that cannot exist, the solution finds that four of the answers are rule violations (and therefore not permissible within the context of the problem) and then picks the last one as the correct answer.Even then, one of the answers they pegged as a rule violation wasn't.)Don't waste your time trying to puzzle it out. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars A Mistake
I bought this book hoping it would help me for the LSAT, but I was disappointed. It is a little simplistic (although this could help a person get used to the games), but it's biggest flaw is the mistakes in the text. Throughout the exercises, there are msitakes. This drove me crazy when I was trying to solve the sample problems becasue I could never be sure if I just wasn't getting it, or if there was another mistake in the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars you are better off with out this for the LSAT
I don't know about the other tests but this book is useless for the LSAT.It is too easy and has too many mistakes!Simple things like replacing "could"with "must"in the answers mess up the whole outcome and this book makes those simple mistakes.I also understand the concept of choosing the lesser of the evils but this book takes it to the extreme!Answers for inference questions are things that really can't be implied any more than what they consider "wrong".The LSAT doesn't do that.So far i suggest getting the actual past tests and there are plenty of other prep book out there.I suppose you could use this book to boost you confidence, so i will give it stars for that.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst logic prep book I ever had...
People should really avoid this book unless you have too much money, time and effort to waste.Aside from this book only provides limited strategies on cracking the logic questions, it has way way way too many bloodly obvious mistakes in it answer keys.It only does two things:confuses you--because you will never understand the inference process since the answers are wrong; or frustrates you--one MORE mistake is found!I eventually got so frustrated that I had to abandon using this book after getting through about 1/5 of the book.Strongly recommend avoiding using this book. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless
I first took the LSAT in 2002.I had never looked at an LSAT before, did not know what to expect, and was a little hungover.I scored okay, a 155.I decided to take the LSAT again and this time about a year ahead of time, I purchased Kaplan.I studied very hard, did the exercises, and the CD Rom.
4-0 out of 5 stars Grain of Salt
Kaplan's intro book isn't bad and it isn't great. It's a good overview before you really start digging into the actual LSAT questions.I felt that it got my mind warmed up as to what the LSAT would be like and gave me some basic tips to think over.
5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for pre-law
This is a great book to prepare you, not only for the LSAT but for the application process itself. Has a nice introduction to "thinking like a lawyer" and study tips for the test. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This book will actually cause you to DO WORSE
I had been getting continually higher scores on every practice test I was taking in the Princeton Review book (which is excellent, by the way) and on actual practice LSATs (scoring around a 170). Before diving into the Barron's book, I took a practice test in the back and did surprisingly badly. I couldn't understand what happened. Then I read the answers and the reasoning behind them. Here's the problem: they expect you to pick the answer that makes the most sense based on information you ALREADY possess about the world, NOT on information provided in the exam. That is a recipe for disaster, as that is precisely what you should NEVER do on the LSAT. Barron's also thinks that answers that make the most sense logically, regardless of their relevance to arguments given on the exam, are the most correct. This is ridiculous. Trusting the answers in this book will teach you bad habits that will lower your score and prevent you from being admitted to the law school of your choice. If you want to do well, take real tests from LSAC or read the Princeton Review book. Frankly, doing nothing at all would probably get you a better score than reading and trusting the Barron's book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Skip the practice tests in this book.
The first part of this book talks about types of questions and strategies and is OK.The practice tests are worthless, as the questions do not even closely resemble the real tests.I took a couple of these practice tests, then switched over to actual old LSATs.When I did that, I started getting many more questions right.I thought maybe I was just getting better, so I did another Barron's test.It was the same--lots of wrong answers due to ambiguous questions that would never appear on a real test.If you get this book, just read the strategies in this book and get the old tests from LSAC for actual practice.

1-0 out of 5 stars Garbage
Barron's has not helped me at all.Doing the Logical Reasoning sections (and performing rather poorly) is very discouraging. The questions are confusing and the answers are even more confusing.I have already wasted about two weeks with this book... good thing I still have three and a half months to study until I actually take the LSAT.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay far, far away
Go with Powerscore Logic Games Bible and Logical Reasoning Bible instead!

1-0 out of 5 stars By no means should you buy this book
I wasted one whole week on this book (and that was four weeks before the LSAT) before I realized it was doing nothing for me. The chapters on the arguments section are worthless--the simulated LSAT questions in this book are much more difficult than the real ones, which serves only to confuse and discourage you. The chapter on the games section will help you with the most simple games, which account for one or two out of four games on the real test. Don't make the same mistake I did (I wish I had read some reader reviews before buying the book). In my opinon, the only LSAT prep books worth buying are the two PowerScore bibles. Plus, of course all the real LSATs you have time for. After working through the Princeton book, I was scoring 10 of 24 on the games. After practicing hard with the PowerScore Games Bible, I scored 22/24.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too haphazard
This book is like driving on a West Virginia highway. You're going along fine and WHAM-THUDDA-THUDDA... pothole city. The book has a unified tone and style, but sections, and even analysis of questiontypes goes from good and detailed to hurried and worthless. Have just about thrown this book out the window a couple of times in frustration at the breezy and conversational, yet empty and repetitive text that fills pages but gives absolutely no insight into the test. ...
