Not All It Was Cracked Up To Be
Although I have found some of Petersons's guides helpful in the past, this was not one of them. The information contained in it is pretty basic as far as law school stats go. The book rarely provides any information that youcan't find on a law school's website. Even the listings of law schools thatit provides are available elsewhere for no charge. It is nice to have allthe information put together, but the editors provide no student opinionsor answers to other quality of life issues which need addressing. The Penguin Guide to American Law Schools
This book contains a very short synopsis of each school, but no real sustance. I did not receive any additional info that I could not have gotten off each school's website.There are other books that are better.For example, the Official Guide to U.S. Law Schools 2001 by Bonnie Gordon(Editor).I already had my schools picked out, so if you have just started looking and are open to any school, then this may be the book that is perfect for you.If you are down to your 8-10 schools, look elsewhere. ... PR's "Guide to the Best Law Schools" is a valuable, unique information source for prospective law students.However, although the numerical information may be current, the student surveys are rapidly becoming quite dated and should be taken with a grain of salt.For example, the quotes regarding the University of Oregon are now at least three years old - an entire generation of law students! Unfortunately, this often results in factual inaccuracies and significant gaps in reflecting changes at the school, e.g., cutting-edge technology, new law school building plans, new programs and courses, and changes in faculty composition. Bottom line:PR's guide is a decent overview, but until they can claim a "'NEW' 16,500 student ratings," take the comments with a grain of salt.Also, remember that no book can replace a first-hand visit to your propsective law schools. ... Pretty interesting, but don't take too serious.
I read this one without a lot of expectation.I had already picked out my school.However, I must say that the author is right on with the information about Dallas.There is actually a skyscraper about a mile from where I live and there is a horse pasture about a mile in the other direction.I can only assume that either the author is from Dallas,TX or has done his research.For fun reading only.

Inaccuracies Abound!!!!
I have been planning on going to law school for several years and I have done a lot of research on different schools.When I read this book I was horrified.The lists of schools in each category are incomplete and ofteninaccurate.One of the most striking examples is one of the listsregarding the size of the city in which school's are located.The bookstates that Stetson University Law School is located in DeLand, Floridawhich the book classifies as a small town.While the main university is infact in DeLand, the law school is in St. Petersburg over a hundred milesaway, and hardly a small town.BEWARE OF THIS BOOK!!!! ...
