3-0 out of 5 stars Good Subject, Little Meat
This book is a primer on interrogation tactics used by police, detectives, and military. It written at a low level, and would greatly benefit all middle school students (especially minorities) so that they do not needlessly confess to authorities. However, there is no reference to actual police and military training manuals, not even a bibliography.
1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Useful
I was hoping for a book that would give away all the secrets to interrogation and making people spill the beans. Instead I got an arrogant sermon on how important and powerful the author thinks private investigators and security guards are. He claims that anyone who does not talk to an investigator can be forced to give deposed testimony (total bull). Being an ex-private investigator, the author's tips are worthless. I want a book that exposes professional interrogation training like the Reid Technique and heuristical interrogation techniques. This book is a complete waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Reference!
To the world at large, picking up a telephone and placing a call is a routine event. When public safety agencies need additional information on the call or the caller (including a location if they need assistance), this becomes a struggle. The fact is that this data is stored in numerous places, with each requiring a minimum degree of familiarity to request the proper information. For any law enforcement investigator or dispatcher who has fought through the layers of ILECS, CLECS, wireless and alternative carriers to obtain legitimate, time critical information, this book provides the introduction to the ways and means of telecommunications infrastructure and databases. This is an invaluable reference that should be in every law enforcement library. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Along with the explosive growth of the Net come many thorny legal questions. In this extremely readable yet comprehensive look at these questions, the author provides valuable guidance. He covers copyrights, trademarks, intellectual property, defamation, privacy, software piracy, and a variety of other matters. The underlying legal principles, as well as pertinent case law, are offered so that lawyers, information systems administrators, and other professionals who use the Net can make their way through rather murky legal waters. This is the best, most complete legal treatment of online issues available. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but Dated
This is a great book for its time but the information is 10 years old.Ten years is a long time by cyberstandards. For more up-to-date Cyberlaw, check out Internet Laws Affecting Your Company, by IP attorney Brett Trout. Although not as comprehensive, it was written in 2005. I found it very useful.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, educational, but OLD hat
This book was required for a graduate course I took in 'cyberlaw' in 2003. Problem: This book only covers Cyberlaw extensively up to about 1992. After that it only mentions laws that have passed up to 1994. For a topic that is inherently derived from the use of the Internet this doesn't strike me as being very up-to-date.5-0 out of 5 stars Cyber Law
Cyber Law is an eye-opener for anyone who plans to start a web based business. I found it quite informative and helpful as far as giving guidelines on how to stay clear of making the usual legal mistakes any new entrepreneur or business owner may make.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The Worst of Liberal Journalism
This book is a problem. It presents itself as book in the public interest, but it really does a disservice to the public.Gigantic corporations reaping billions of dollars off propaganda machines of immense proportion--this story should NOT be humanized or told in such simple form.Liberal journalists are the ones who will faithfully detail how and why your flesh is being flayed off your body by the corporate-government elite.Thank you, very much.By presenting all sides, we get no ground to stand upon, no point of view.We get some critical remarks tossed off next to corporate jargon about competition.Problem is, Aufderheide should have long agon seen beyond such a lame category as "competition."If you want to see a real journalist in action, watch Bill Moyers examination of the 1996 telecommunications act in a video you can probably get at your library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice
My book arrived within five days of placing my order, which was wonderful because I started class the very next day. There was some writing in it as described, but I don't care because it's a book, and as long as I can read the text, that's all that's really important. Anyway, the book was in great condition, it was the right edition, and it's easy to read. Thanks for the great service!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Reason It's a CLASSIC! (9th Ed./InfoTrac Incl.)
"Must-have" if you're interested in law or law school bound...Superb reference and learning book (there is also a Study Guide -- harder to find); you'll keep this book for years of use! If you take a Criminal Justice course, this is the text you should hope the prof demands. It is truly the best out there.Yes, it's pricy - but worth every dollar. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Internet law for dummies :)
I believe this is a good tool for non-lawyers, who need to know about the legal aspects of internet. This is an excellent reference for common doubts, like being impersonated on the internet, internet auctions and its legal binding, privacy, digital signature, etc.5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating "legal guide to the 'Net"
Laws governing the 'Net seem to change as often as the 'Net itself changes. For every technological breakthrough, there are also seemingly endless legal questions that eventually come up. This book attempts to address the major legal issues regarding the Internet. As such, it's a great guide to the most common legal questions to be asked.5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!
Author Jonathan Bick gives general readers a short introduction to the ways that various laws apply to the Internet. He focuses on existing laws about contracts, defamation, privacy, copyright, trademark and other areas, and explains their application to the Internet environment, since few laws specific to the Internet have been drafted. He covers a variety of topics, including Internet-related taxes, rights, options, obligations, liabilities, debt collection, advertising, billing refunds, intellectual property protections and more, all organized into one- or two-page discussions. Each section is followed by a summary of the law or recommendations on how it applies to business. We [...] recommend this clear and easy-to-understand guide to anyone who uses the Internet for work, business or entertainment. And if you hit a section that doesn't apply to you, skip ahead - one advantage of the book's organization is that you can jump to the sections that interest you.
