4-0 out of 5 stars property
proudhon didn't mean all property is theft. he didn't advocate no owner ship. He is indicating that the labourer-boss relationship is bad. that the laborourer deserves the fruits of his work and that they should not be taken away for the sake of making money to the boss and the people on the top of the hiearchy, one of the concepts that anarchism opposes.

5-0 out of 5 stars The classic of Western European anarchist thought
The title is perhaps one of the most famous rhetorical questions ever, and should be placed historically in the same range as "Quo usque tandem, Catilina" etc. Proudhon sets himself the task of analyzing the foundations of modern society, and inevitably is drawn towards a critique of the modern political economy, as was popular in the 19th century.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Useful Text
Note: The previous reviewer is a known troll on various political discussion boards; he has developed a rabid hatred towards Anarchist ideology, so, if I were a customer considering this book, I would take his review with a grain of salt - it's full of very personal venom. For instance, to put Proudhon and Marx in the same category is blatant proof of the reviewer's prejudices; clearly, he has either not read the text or he is purposefully misrepresenting it. Proudhon would never have supported the authoritarianism espoused by Marx or any of his contemporaries and successors.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is an EXCELLENT book for people who are creative or want to be creative
I am a student in college, and very interested in inventing. All my life I have been thinking up inventions and trying to figure out if I could do anything with them. This book taught me I can, and furthermore, I should. I bought this book last week, after reading the reviews, and can honestly say it is a great book! I read it in a few days, and it was easy and really great reading. It caused me to discover new ways of problem solving and creativity that I know will help me in many areas of my education, career growth--and most importantly--it caused me to discover new ideas as I was reading it that I had never considered. These ideas were NOT even a part of the book. The Authors did a excellent job at writing in easy to understand, yet very educational ways. I am happy to own this book, and encourage the Authors to keep going. I think everyone who considers themselves creative should buy this book, simply because of the innovation methods it teaches and the simple ways it teaches the reader how to think in new ways about solving problems!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for information about Patents, Copyrights, etc.
I bought this book less than a week ago and it was so informative about the entire process of searching, obtaining, and even coming up with new ideas that I simply could not put it down.I highly recommend this book not only as a future reference to patent seekers but to anyone interested in the process or learning where to find what with respect to patents, copyrights, trademarks and much more.I have submitted a few patent applications and the knowledge in this book would have been extremely helpful in each of those submissions.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Powerful GUIDE Book for Teaching All Ages How to Invent
I work with many Inventors in my daily job, and I have to say this book is one of a kind. The book discusses some of the most unique qualities of the minds of inventors, and some of the very extraordinary skills they are able to demonstrate. I have always wondered how these types of people think, but this book actually teaches me that anyone can think like this. It shows the reader how simple it is to create inventions, and then how to submit them once you have discovered them. What really struck me, as I was reading this, is that it caused me to discover an invention of my own, and then told me how to file it. It was almost as if the authors were guiding my thoughts as I read the chapters. I think this book is a great book and even has some techniques I will refer to over-and-over. As my own experiment, I even worked with my children on some of these techniques as we explored a new world of inventions in their own minds. I highly rate this book and suggest it to anyone curious about their own abilities to become an inventor. A GREAT book to read! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential Reading for any Intelligent Adult Favoring Social Progress
I bought this book at Hackers on Planet Earth 6, and then after reading it in the morning, had the double benefit of hearing the author as keynote speaker in the afternoon. He is everything the book's contents suggest, and more. The author is one of the original MIT hackers (pick up a used copy of Shirley Turkle's "My Second Self, Computers and the Human Spirit" and/or Steven Levy's "Hacker's" which the author himself recommends.
5-0 out of 5 stars Nice Explanations
The editor wrote a short forward explaining all the computer concepts the reader will need in order to understand the book.In addition, there are footnotes throughout the book explaining obscure people and computer terms. This way even a sociology major like myself can understand everything.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Understand
This is a great entry-level book. It's well-written with easy-to-understand case studies and pertinent examples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Complete and Very Well Explained
Copyrights used to be so simple. The U.S. Constitution says: to promote the progrss of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors exclusive right to their respective writing and discoveries. From there it gets a lot messier. For instance a book copyrighted and published in 1930 was under copyright for 28 years. If the copyright was not renewed it expired in 1958. But if in 1958 the copyright was renewed for an additional 28 years, or 1986. But the law was changed so that if the copyright was not renewed the book is in the public domain. But if it was renewed the copyright now goes until 70 years after the death of the author, or maybe 95 years after it was first published, or possibly 120 years after it was created.
5-0 out of 5 stars Highest recommendation for libraries and librarians
Published in a sprial bound format, Complete Copyright: An Everyday Guide For Librarians by Carrie Russell is a project of the "Office for Information Technology Project" of the American Library Association and is enhanced with contributions by thirteen specialists and experts in copyright law and its relevance to academic and public library systems. Color illustrations, highlighted passages, a dash of humor and situational questions enhance the basic study of American copyright law, making the information easier to assimilate. Covering modern-day legal issues and coverage especially as apply to libraries ranging from the concept of "fair use" to the "first sale doctrine" that allows the resale or donation of lawfully purchased or acquired books, etc. to issues specific to copyright in the digital age, and much more, Complete Copyright carries the highest recommendation for libraries and librarians everywhere in the rapidly changing twenty-first century.

Editorial Review

Copyright law is a complex field, and it's crucial for writers to understand what's entailed. Stephen Fishman covers what a copyright is, how it's created and protected, limitations and transfer of ownership, how long it lasts, and what copyright infringement is all about. There are chapters on copyright registration, copyright notice, and how to deal with errors or omissions. Fishman also wades into the issues of derivative works and compilations, works for hire, and jointly authored works. He also tackles the confusion of copyrights in the online world of electronic publishing; the book is worth its price for this chapter alone. Theappendix contains a variety of sample forms and blank forms and a PC-formatted disk of the same material. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Plagirism Problems
I hire work-for-hire writers to create story anthologies and have become increasingly frustrated by the tendency of many to liberally "borrow" the written words of others found via the Internet. This book's chapters on Copyright Infringement and Copyright in the Online World have been invaluable resources that I have used to educate both myself and my writers. The author has wonderful tools for assessing and evaluating similarities between two texts, a test for paraphrasing, sample legal cases and judgments, letters to send to copyright violaters, an examination of liability issues, and more.
1-0 out of 5 stars poor investment
A redundant and poorly written tome that does not answer the important questions.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic!!!!!!!!!
As soon as I bought the book I could not put it down I read it from top to bottom non-stop. This book is an easy read and very applicable. I highly recommend this book to gain greater insights in the Music business or any business. It was a great buy along with a couple of manuals purchased from Musicbrains.net entitled the Indie label Kit onAmazon, Music business 101, future of music and Guide to releasing an independent record by Tim Sweeney.

4-0 out of 5 stars excelent
The music industry world ins an alien environment for most of the emerging artists and many need guidance to avoid scams and legal glitches, this book can be a good guide in defeating those lawyers that try to fool you into a deal. Despite the depth and professionalism , the book it isn't the best out there,” Music Business & Entertainment Law Contracts for Indie Recording Artist, Labels, Songwriters, Composers, Producers, Managers and All Others in the Record Industry. Binder / CD-ROM set (PC & Mac)" by Ty Cohen is far better when dealing with all the aspects and it includes viewpoints from different men in the industry, and also includes clear and easy to understand examples

5-0 out of 5 stars Real World Advice from a Real Guy - Highly Recommended
Not only is this book (and it's prequel, "Confessions of a Record Producer") the real deal, so is the man who wrote it. I was so impressed by his first book that I contacted him as a consultant on a producer/artist agreement I was negotiating (I am a producer). My goal was to come up with something that was actually fair to both parties and Moses got us to that point quickly. His suggestions were works of innovation that surprised and satisfied everyone.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The principle of fair use defined and explained
Copyright For Teachers And Librarians by Rebecca Butler (Associate Professor in the Educational Technology, Research, and Assessment Department in the College of Education at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois) is a no-nonsense guide to copyright law. The principle of fair use defined and explained, the procedures one should follow when asking permission, the specific applications of copyright law, particulars with regard to copyright law and CDs, DVDs, videos, or television, and much more, including a sharp focus on how copyright law relates directly to the needs of teachers and librarians, all make Copyright For Teachers And Librarians a hands-on practical resource. An absolute must-have for any teacher or librarian not intimitely familiar with America's copyright laws, Copyright For Teachers And Librarians is also useful to general readers as it presents basic facts in a highly readible manner.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poorly edited and researched
I'm completing an independent study on entertainment law, and more specifically, copyright law and how it pertains to filmmaking. I got this book among several others, and was a little surprised at how poorly written this book is. First off, the editing is TERRIBLE: there are spelling and grammar mistakes ALL OVER the book! On some pages it's outright ridiculous. Honestly, who proofread this before publication?
2-0 out of 5 stars Very Mediocre
