2-0 out of 5 stars Missed Its Target Audience...
Undeniably, Professor Stoebuck is one of the brightest scholars around in Property law, but this book misses its mark for what it was intended for.West's Hornbook series are designed to be used by first year law students learning the law, non-legal scholars who need a quick reference for whatever they are working on, or the practicing attorney who doesn't have the time or money to use one of West's multi-volume practicioner series treatises.
3-0 out of 5 stars Heavily detailed, but useful for Property students
ALthough this text contains about 10x what the average 1L will need for a Property exam, it was a very helpful guide through a very difficultsubject. It will remain on my shelf just in case I change the very core ofmy being and someday become a real estate lawyer.Students of Property:this is the ONLY text that will help you outside of the classroom.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for a difficult area of the law
This is an excellent treatise covering the major areas and topics of property law.It is sighted often by leading casebooks, including Singer's Property Law.I highly recommend this book to law students as the othersecondary sources in this area of law are woefully lacking. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I'm not employed by a tax lawyer
This would probably be a great book for a law student, but not for a lay person. I consider myself to be fairly intelligent, but I had a bit of difficulty wading through this to find the little bit of info that I needed.I'm sure it's also a great book for someone with a tax background.

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitive Guide for Beginners to ISA
I was totally new to ISA and came to know about this book from the ISAServer forum.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best ISA 2004 Reference ever
Don't be fooled guys, even with the articles being available online you wont find such a complete explanation posted into the isa server's resource site. This guy writes ISA documentation for MS, so there you go, he is da man when it comes to the product and has been dealing with it since the beginning, ISA 2006 is still in RC and he already wrote a couple of articles regarding how to configure new features. Definitely, a must have if you are an ISA Admin or consultant looking for some information and advice to do the right setup for the given network.

4-0 out of 5 stars Too Much, Too Soon?
Since the early ISA Server 2000 days, author Tom Shinder has been the undisputed king of the ISA Server world. (Small world, isn't it.) His great expertise is complimented by a nice professional writing style that can be understood by any serious system administrator. If ISA is a big part of your responsibilities, you will want to have this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars GIAN FIERO ON KOHN ON MUSIC LICENSING
Simply put: This is the bible of music licensing. It's not as cheap as the bible and you don't have a prayer of finding it much cheaper than the used versions that someone foolishly gives up on Amazon, but regardless of the price, it's worth every penny. If you want to truly understand the mechanics, logistics, and legalities of music licensing, learn it from the authority who was sorting out licensing issues concerning the Internet and digital distribution over 10 years ago - before it became a "hot" topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars A valuable tool, and totally unknown to many who'd benefit
I discovered this book when I was researching an article "Who owns the rights? Copyright, the law and licensing the show," which was published in the Summer 1999 issue of the Educational Theatre Associationquarterly Teaching Theatre (Volume 10, Number 4) and which is now availableonline (though the reviewer guidelines do not allow me to post the URL, soanyone interested will have to email me at knscott@juno.com for it). Kohnon Music Licensing is a most valuable resource for anyone who either doesmusical theatre, or uses music in theatrical production, since it makesclear aspects of musical licensing that I am sure are as mysterious to manyothers as they were to me before reading this book. In my opinion, everytheatre educator or community theater producer/director should read bothChapter 18, "The Grand Rights Controversy", and Chapter 14,"Synchronization Licenses," before producing another musical (or excerptfrom one) or using any copyright-protected music "dramatically"(a term defined in the book) in the production of any play. AND the authorsmaintain a Website to which readers can bring any question still unclearafter reading the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars OK...But not for a law students
This book was ok. It won't help the 1L law students looking for an aid to help them supplement their readings. This book is just a glorified canned case book.Highly recommended for those CONSIDERING law school and want to read about contracts BEFORE they start school.Once your in law school, look for another source.

5-0 out of 5 stars A charming introduction to legal thinking
This is one of the few books that someone should consider reading before law school. Written in a fluid style, the book provides an adequate overview of what could be called "Contracts' Greatest Hits." While it is probably not sufficient to rely on for exams, it is a great introduction to legal thinking generally.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Supplement For Contracts Students
This book explains contract law simply and effectively in an incredibly small number of pages. The book covers the entire common law of a first year course. When taking Contracts, I used Chirelstein as a review of a section of law, and it noted just about every seminal case.Often, the explanations were better than my professor's (and perhaps not conicidentally, sometimes they were the same). Now that I am a second-year student, I still use it as my first reference for contracts before looking to a horn book or Westlaw.I would recommend every first year law student to have a copy.It is easy on the back and on the mind.

"The first edition of this book was a classic, widely cited both for its analysis of forensic assessment instruments and for Grisso's integrative theory of forensic evaluation. With the second edition, Evaluating Competencies remains a classic.I expect that whenever a forensic psychologist of psychiatrist prepares for an advanced examination in this specialty, this book will-or should-be one of the first books reviewed."Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction to Business Law
This was the textbook for an introductory course in business law I took. It does a great job at laying the groundwork of the US legal system and explodes many common myths. A large amount of material is covered clearly and consisely. The chapters on contracts and constitutional law alone are worth the price of the book. The authors do a good job hitting the high points and not getting bogged down in details that are inappropriate for an introductory course.
5-0 out of 5 stars Legal & Regulatory Environment of Business
Great Book. Better than the other Legal Business books. Great cases. Easy to read and understand. Great for Business law. Other books are more about law instead of business law, Not this book. You be the Judge DVD-Rom is great similation of legal business situations. Book is great for learning Business Law.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative, enlightening, and well-organized.
Like many Americans, I didn't know much about our country's principles of government or its legal system. This book helped me to become more knowledgeable about both.I admit, this is not reading I would choose to curl up with in front of the fire; this was part of a requirement for my MBA.However, I will remember what I've learned in this text long after my class ends. Having previously been clueless about the legal system, it is now exhilarating to read about, say, how the nine US Supreme Court Justices are dealing with the aftermath of the Gore vs. Bush debacle and actually understand what is going on.The chapters are well-organized and easy to understand. There are even helpful study tips and ways to brief a legal case in the beginning of the text. After completing this book, I not only feel better equipped to handle business decisions, but also feel empowered and enlightened for better understanding our great country. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Every law student (or would be law student) should read this book
As a law school career counselor, I can attest that one of the top challenges students face is determining what they want to do with their law degree and how to get what they want. This book goes a long way in helping to solve that riddle. I recommend it to every law student with whom I work. Each one who has followed my advice has praised the recomendation. My Admissions Office will not give me my personal copy back because they find it so useful.
5-0 out of 5 stars A very useful book for yourself or to counsel others
I work in the career services field and have found this book very helpful in counselling law students. Most law students come into law school with a vague notion of what they want to do, but no sense of what it really means to practice a particular kind of law. Ms. Abrams book gives them a real-world account of what lawyers in each specialty do all day and what they can expect out of their careers. I'd highly recommend this to anyone considering a legal career or anyone helping those who are.

5-0 out of 5 stars How to appear knowledgeable during on-campus interviews:
For anyone who needs an edge over competition during recruiting season, here is your ticket.Abrams' books is well-organized, comprehensive and illuminating. If you read it, you will learn the most basic lingo of the various legal practice areas. You will also be able to identify the specialities that suit your personality (for instance litigation and corporate are very different). You'll enter the interview process more self-aware and be aware of what's out there; as a result you'll be able to effectively market yourself to particular firms. If you don't read the Official Guide and don't know anything about the different practices of law yet, how do you know you are not making a mistake pursuing the practice of law?Read it, then apply for those jobs. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars This Book is a Tort Itself
This is biased, pro-plaintiff, and hard to follow. It is a self-justifying, defender of the out of control legal profession. Only 60 pages are devoted to the defense. There is nary a word, beyond brief dismissal, of the devastation wrought upon our besieged Nation by the profession. There is nary a word about changing the unconscionable 80% error rate in tort litigation. There is nary a word about the wackiness that passes for judicial decision making, mind reading, fortune telling, etc. 5-0 out of 5 stars A fine hornbook
This excellent volume was one of my own study aids during my first year of law school and it's now a valued part of my burgeoning law library.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent tort book
An excellent book about tort law. The author revises every issues and explains clearly the subject. Dobbs quotes abundant cases and bibliography too. The content is : Part I. Introducing Tort Law;Part II: Physical interference with person or property; Part III, Operating and altering the tort system in personal injury cases. Finally, I must point out that this book (with 1600 pages) have an accurate updating. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting but out of date and missing many key terms
Of the numerous Spanish<>English legal dictionaries I use regularly, this is consistently the one least likely to include the terms I need. I suspect it's partly because this is an abridged edition, and partly because the sources that the author(s) cite include very few publications that are even remotely recent. Another problem: the entries generally provide narrative explanations rather than functionally equivalent terms. The explanations are cogent, clear, interesting, and often establish differences in meaning between different countries. However, this approach is not helpful if you're a translator trying to figure out the best English-language equivalent for a Spanish legal term or vice versa.

2-0 out of 5 stars Diccionario Juridico not what I hoped for
As a US immigration lawyer, I was pretty disappointed with this dictionary. It had few of the terms I looked for.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great tool for translators
I am a translator and also and interpreter, and I have found that this is a great dictionary for my translations, althought I must say, that sometimes the explanations can be somewhat confusing, but I still think that is a very good dictionary in general. Just one thing.. I think the authors did miss a few words. ... Read more

As a gramarian and etymologist by avocation, my tastes are a bit weird.Maybe that's why I actually enjoyed reading this bookcasually. Each of Garner's books belongs on the bookshelf of any attorney who considers himself a professional. My pet peeve is the attorney who I know is writing to impress the reader with his writing skills as opposed to the attorney who is writing to persuade the reader. The former will not have Garner's books in his library. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
Well written, easy to understand with loads of advice and comfort for those going through the challenges of a custody battle. The author shares some of her own experiences and leaves you with a feeling of hopeful optimism.I consider this a must-read for any parent going through a divorce.I thought that her comments on dressing for court and behavior during separation were common sense, but perhaps there are some readers who would need to understand better how their image and demeanor affect a judge's perception of them as a parent.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone trying to gain custody of their children.

5-0 out of 5 stars What Every Woman Should Know About Divorce And Cusody
This is the most thorough and informative book on divorce issues that I have read.As a divorce attorney, I am always curious to know what other attorneys are thinking. Ms. Smith's perspective and commentary mirror much of my own experiences and conclusions. The book is easy to read and filled with relevant, realistic examples and practical advice.I highly recommend this book to both nonlawyers, who have a reason to learn about this subject and to lawyers so they can refine and expand their knowedge of the divorce process.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice and Simple
This book was nice and simple.A good summary of what you need to know. The section on agency was great.I think he got a little carried away in the partnerships section when he compared RUPA and UPA.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a comprehensive summary of the law of agency, partnerships, and unincorporated entities. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars This textbook stinks...
This book is unorganized, out-of-date, too focused on New York City, and on every other page promotes the authors and their careers...On page 7 they are telling you how much has changed with the computer age, and the internet, and one of the authors tells you he went to grade school and they used quill pens and fountain jars...okay, I didn't need to know that.It was so annoying that by page 14, I was going to submit to them a list of improvements, but it would have been EXTENSIVE!From there on just gritted my teeth and got through it...Good luck! You'll be really tired of the references to the Trade City Bombing, and NYC in general, by the end of it! ...
