Good Starting Point, Technically and Pastorally
This is the second edition of a very good book on Marriage Annulments in the Code of Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church, ten years after the latest Code of Canon Law of 1983, went into effect. If you are using this book to consider or take some sort of action in your personal life, go first to the small section in the first chapter entitled "The Tribunal as Pastoral Ministry." This sets the tone of this book, one that is both informational and pastoral. The author's examination of the types of questions a Tribunal will ask exhibit a good knowledge of the grounds the Church uses for examining an annulment case. He also uses some good forms that one might see during the annulment process. His discussion of witness forms is especially important. Witnesses are necessay to a case and they can sometimes be the deal breaker. The extremes are witnesses who try too hard to help you with their answers, to witnesses who tell you they sent their questionaire back, but it must have gotten lost in the mail. This part of the book gives a witness encouragemnet in the role and practical advice as well. The only fault I found with this book is two occasions of talking about a "failed marriage" and why a marriage "failed". I think such negative talk does not belong in today's world of no-fault divorce, let alone in the healing process of a Church annulment. Worth the read, but with caution.
This book depicts the judicial system as corrupt. If you start out with that in mind you will tend to feel victimized. The system is a collection of laws, attitudes, accepted norms and people doing a job. To expect everything to come to halt to take care of you and your children is unrealistic. Judges, lawyers, mediators and the rest of the system didn't get up this morning bent on doing you harm. They are doing a job, just as you do your job. With guidelines, bosses and parameters they have to meet.
what dads should look like when going to court
Numerous case studies are cited which are very interesting to read. There is also an excellent section on what dads should look like when going to court (hint: no flashy cufflinks, expensive suits, etc.). Very good read.

Great 4 Fathers who are Victims of a Corrupt Judicial System
This book was very well written and a valuable resource for fathers who have had their child kidnapped by an uncaring mother.The book exposes the judicial system for what it is-CORRUPT.Judges, lawyers, and theirsupporting cast are like the lions eating the Christians.Unfortunately,these despicable people have zero regard for children or other people, butonly for the money that they can extract at the expense of other people'spain and conflict.It is ironic that those in charge of the judicialsystem should be the ones locked up behind bars for what they do is farmore criminal than a typical crook.This book is good ammunition againstthese judical despots. ... Fathers within our current system
I was amazed at how many analogies in this book fit exactly what I am going through.This book is a very realistic portrayal of what happens through the divorce process.Reviewers stating that those who like this book are the reasons why their court battles are ongoing are not correct.Neither are the reviewers who state that this book means fathers should just give up.
hard reality for divorced dads
It isn't easy to read that divorced dads barely have a chance in today's world. And it may be harder to read that divorced dads have to make peace with the mothers of their children to get anywhere. It would be nice to think that the courts and the social workers will save us, but it isn't reality.And peace is better, anyway.

AN OUTSTANDING RESOURCE
For the men who have trashed this book here, I ask them if they're "four year custody" battles have benefitted or hurt their children?I concede that such legal actions are extremely damaging to children, putting them in the middle of the two people they love the most in this world.Still a Dad is an invaluable resource teaching Dads in this tough situation that while there is much injustice to the legal system, and so much of a feeling of powerlessness during the entire divorce process, that their children are still their children and NEED THEIR FATHER, just as THEY NEED THEIR CHILDREN.It requires the death of the OLD dream of how we always envisioned being a father, and truly developing a new vision to accommodate the new situation.THIS IS THE WAY TO BEST HELP YOUR CHILDREN through this process.It means letting go of you previous notions, and YES - ending that battle with the ex-spouse.It means, learning to live life again, and learning to be happy again, for yourself and for your children.There are so many blessings in this book, I couldn't read the pans of it without sharing how much it helped me through my situation.I was divorced 5 years ago, and this book was pivotal in getting me in touch with ALL of the crazy emotions and pain I was dealing with, and getting it under control so that I could TRULY determine what was BEST for my children.Read more

Money well worth spending!
Finally a book anyone can understand not just those in the legal field. Being in the legal profession myself I find this book to be my bible.It's easy and takes you through the process step by step.The only thing you must watch out for are the forms which are constantly revised by the courts. Although this book gives you the names of the forms you will need, it is still your responsibility to check and make sure it's the most current one.One great way is to log onto the court's website where you can download the most recent forms for free. I find this book very helpful and hope you will too. Best of luck!

His case studies are compelling examples of the mistakes that dominate the real work products of the field.I love the way at the start of each chapter he presents a reasonable sounding evaluation (unless you know from experience what mistakes to look for), and then by the end of the chapter you understand that it was meant as an example of what NOT to do, and you now have a deep understanding of why. ...
