Read, Feel, Change
It doesn't matter if you have children or not or if you are involved in child custody or not, if you read this book you will feel differently and you will change. This book could be pivotal for anyone involved in family law. It needs to be on a DVD to be shown at parenting classes. It needs to be a workbook for teen mothers and fathers. It needs to be required continuing education for mediators, judges and attorneys.Every parent I have shown this book to has adjusted his or her attitude to much more child-centered frame of mind. Attorneys should order it in bulk to bring self-centered parents into line.

A simple book to help with complex feelings
Divorce is a hard and painful reality for everyone.This thin, easy to read book will open your heart to the children involved.Sometimes it's really hard for a kid to figure out and articulate what the heck they are feeling.The letters in this book will give you a handle on the spectrum of feelings and issues a kid has to deal with.
Making sure that those normally voiceless in a divorce are heard
Charlotte Hardwick is the author of that most excellent book on American child custody law, "Win Your Child Custody Battle." But, she is also an advocate for the children in a divorce. This book is a collection of letters that were actually sent by the children of divorces to a judge. The letters themselves have the wide range of feelings that the children themselves have. Some are hopeful, some are sad, some are scared, but all come from the heart.

Legal Guide for Women
I have not read this book from cover to cover, but almost! I read it in a hodge podge of this chapter and that chapter, that page and this page. No matter which direction I went, the book was very easy to read and to understand. It is written in regular everyday language. It is a great book. I really enjoy it and have found out a few interesting things as well. The book will be one that women will want to keep handy.

Must read for all- married or not
What were you thinking... we have all asked ourselves that question many times! This book really makes you ask yourself the tough questions that are useful before, during, or after a marriage (or any relationship for that matter). The expertise and insight that Barondess has in regards to marriage and divorce is unique, as well as entertaining! Just the tips on working with an attorney in general are invaluable! I believe everyone who has had, or is thinking of having, a committed relationship (not just getting married), should read this book!

Very insightful on the impact of marriage and divorces
The author tends to engage in conjecture at times, but overall, his book is very insightful on the divorce process and it definitely makes one realize all the practical implications of a marriage. People often decide to marry when they are on such an emotional high that they do not realize how tough it is to merge lives and property together.
What Were You Thinking?
I am only 1/8 through this book and I WISH I had read this when I was 18.I am 52 and have been married to two sociopaths.A lot of the book verbalizes things many of us KNOW but we IGNORE.I recommend reading this to anyONE contemplating marriage.It's a wake up call.Makes you THINK.Some of us need someone to SAY things clearly in black and white.That would be ME.Well here it is... Must Have
This is a VERY good book to have handy... It's easy to read, and I've re-read it a few times. Good for when the spouse has left and you don't know what the future holds!

The separated Christian's "how-to" guide.A must read!!
4 weeks into my separation, and 4 books later, this was the book I needed.After reading the 1st 3 chapters, I went back with a highlighter over the previous chapters & there was something that I needed on every page.Being in "limbo" while a spouse decides what he/she will do is so hurtful as well as very hard to understand.Jan Northington uses scripture to encourage, lift up & assure you that you're not alone & that there is a God who cares about your situation.If you emerse yourself in any book during your separation, this one should be included.

Not a bad choice
Not a bad choice.It's kinda wordy, and uses alot of legleaze, but it answered alot of questions, and got my Ex and I through with out a big $$$ attorney.

Try the second edition
I'm the author and wanted to let you know that if you're interested in this book, you may want to buy the second edition which has expanded information.It has a different title - How to Parent With Your Ex: Working Together for Your Child's Best Interest.

This is a book I'd like to see all divorced parents read!
I work for a social services agency and many of my clients are trying to cope with visitation/access.I liked this book a lot because it gives straight advice about real situations.The emphasis is on working things out, but it also tells parents how to handle it if they can't.This is a book I am going to recommend to my clients because it gives them real tips on how to make things work.There are great things like lists of things parents shouldn't say to their kids and lists of things to pack for visitation/access time.There are also good tips about how to make transitions work - often the most difficult time for children.It really is a handbook- a manual for living with visitation/access.This is a book I'd like to see all divorced parents read.

Good if you are really new to divorce and visitation
This book is o.k., but doesn't offer any new advice.It's mostly filled with common sense.If you are on friendly terms with your ex, and he/she is a little clueless, maybe you could give it to them.Read more
