Awesome advice!Wouldn't get a pro se divorce without it!
This book helped me get through what could have been a messy divorce. Thanks to their advice, I was able to get the divorce finalized quickly with a seperation agreement.This book is very thorough and self-explainatory.

Provides ok background, but don't rely on it
Feel free to look through this book to learn the basic concepts that you'll need to know if you're going through a divorce, but do _not_ rely on this book alone without consulting an expert, _even_ if your divorce is simple and uncontested.

Great Resource
My niece is separated from her husband and going through a divorce. This is a difficult time for her and her two young children.I had recommended Surviving Separation and Divorce to her as a great resource and to offer her some guidance during this difficult time, knowing the author had experience some of the same situations as my niece.

a book written by a woman not a scientist
In a sea of clinical books on the subject of separation and divorce, there you find this one, different because it approaches this subject with the experience of someone who has actually gone through it. It gives common sense solutions and advice that a woman can actually understand and try to execute for herself. Women need help during this very difficult time and this book is like a good friend.

Made filing cheap and simple!
This book was an indispensable resource throughout my entire non-contested, Colorado divorce.The book comes with a CD including all the forms you'll need (saving you money as the form packet at the courthouse costs money), plus a helpful overview of the entire process, great advice and words of caution (regarding things I would have certainly overlooked or realized too late!), and step-by-step instructions on how to fill out the forms.Thanks to this book, I never had to consult a lawyer or mediator, and saved lots of time and money.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is pursuing a non-contested divorce in Colorado! Wrong title
Don't waste your money on this book.It's hyped up beyond its contents!

I have not read this book, but am looking for ANY direction in our current child UNsupport system.
Isn't a Father more than a Paycheck and Spermbank?
If women were treated as second class citizens the way fathers are treated by the so-called family court, the feminists would pitch an uproar the likes of which we have never seen. Statistics show that approximately %78 of divorices are filed by women. A divorice attorney for a women has it easy. When I went as a Pro Se litigent in 1993, the court-appointed mediator at Washington County in Minnesota blithly explained to me that "Joint physical and legal custody didn't matter." I went to be adjudicated as be my daughter's legal father, and could not afford the $1,500.00 retainer for an attorney. After taking my daughter's mother to court for denial of visitation five times in ten years, I've learnt that the only thing the courts are interested in are seperating the father from his children and his money, and wether or not the judge has a personal like for your attorney. I still see my daughter -- when it is to her mother's convenience. Attorneys make money hand over fist in this business -- and this is indeed big business! The case workers and court mediators are women who have a chip on their shoulder. Judges are adament when it comes to enforcing child support, but alarmingly lax when it comes to enforcing visitation. Yet our hard-earned tax dollars pay their salary. I don't understand why more fathers don't speak out on these issues, as any women certainly would. ... Read more

Simply Amazing
Denise needs to be commended for writing such a brave and honest account of her ending marriage. This work takes the reader through the frightening and empowering maze of the human experience. The author illustrates that in relationships, and especially during their tumultuous endings, there is no good guy or bad guy. Throughout this book Denise gives a voice of fear and feminism at once, and takes the reader through her ups and downs while constantly reminding you that life is still happening around you. As the child of divorce, I found it astonishing and brilliant that Denise is able to keep the needs of her child in the forefront while her needs and emotions were scattered and raw. This book is beautifully written and honest in that Denise accepts responsibility for her actions as well as the responsibility to make her life what she wants it to be. It is rare to find a book in which the author puts it all on the line. And whether you have experienced a divorce or not in your life, this book is for you if you have ever had the sinking feeling in your chest that your relationship is not working. The book reminds us that our lives are ever changing and unsettled, but through change and readjustment comes happiness and self respect. Thank you Denise for putting this out there and for your bravery to paint yourself in all of life's colors.

Not Void at all- Pertinent to Much for So Many Reasons

Buy this book - NOW! Before you tell your wife you want a divorce!
This is the best book you can buy if you ever even think you might want to dump your wife. Read it and take the time to "think before you act"! Protect yourself in the long run. This book has a lot of funny stuff in it, but basically it has a lot of great advice on how to deal with ending a relationship, and how to get out of it alive and with a little bit of the money you worked your whole life for....

A funny and informative look at a sometimes unfunny thing.
Lee Covington gives the man contemplating divorce a very thorough and helpful guide.She treats things with humor, but underneath are some very helpful tips and warnings.She uses examples of three different kinds of wife and how to handle each one, including the one who may shoot the man.It is not a substitute for actual legal advise (from a lawyer who is not a friend or acquaintance).Buy it and send it in plain wrapper to the workplace of a friend who is going through, or about to go through, a divorce.Buy it for yourself, but hide it from your present wife.
