4-0 out of 5 stars Solid
Mimi Lyster presents in a very even handed way. I felt comfortable taking her advice. The worksheets made it apparent that we agreed on more than we disagreed on. The fill-in-the-blank samples of the parenting agreement brought us through the process without either of us feeling manipulated.Buy this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars A civilized voice in an uncivilized battle.
A voice of reason for those willing and able to listen. If you are able to remain calm and fair you may be able to keep the situation stable. The 6 page Index is well organized and the book is worth the $20.00.

3-0 out of 5 stars Valuable Only if you agree to agree
If the other parent shows up with this book it MAY WORK OUT. If you see the other side as being abusive and uncooperative, that's probably how he or she sees you. This book really tries to help in reaching an agreement, but you will probably end upasking the court for help. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Straight Information about Critical Issues for men and their children.
I am a divorced Dad and have gone through the Family Court system, unfortunately prior to reading this book. I have raised three children for 13 years; single-handedly and now find myself as an outsider in a custody dispute over my forth child, a 1-year-old son. I must share with anyone (women, men, dads, moms, children) that you must read this book. It is an excellent description of what fathers and their children face in the current Family court climate. Not only describing in a very truthful and non-euphemistic manner the current issues and trends but also how we got here.
4-0 out of 5 stars It's about time.
While being in a city and state that supposedly supports "father's rights", my husband and I are terrified of what we are setting into motion next week- trying to get custody of his daughter.5-0 out of 5 stars Children as Fodder in the Downfall of Society
In short, if you don't know the material in this book, you don't know human rights, (including children's rights, men's or father's rights, and women's rights) as it applies in contemporary western society. If you have yet to emancipate yourself from the radical feminist induced mental slavery, you may not be ready for this book.Read more

I found this book to be very helpful to me.I needed to know if mediation was for me.Divorces can be very expensive (I have friends who have gone through them) and I didn't want attorneys to get the better deal. Chapters include how mediation differs from litigation. If it's the best choice for you.Choosing a mediator and their role. The process of mediation...children and finanacial issues. In essence, it takes you from start to finish. The scenarios with different couples were so varied that I am sure you will find a situation that is similar to yours.A must read if you want to know how it all works.I learned so much from this book that I would recommend it to anyone contemplating... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for people who worry or have lots of questions.
This book has loads of common-sense divorce information.I am a divorce lawyer in Michigan and I learned of the book when a client of mine showed it to me.I was surprised at the quality of the information. This book is accurate and up-to-date and explains difficult concepts in an easy to understand manner.I tell all my divorce clients about it and suggest that they buy the book. This book is worth many times the price in answering questions that most people have when going through a divorce. If you have a divorce lawyer, buy it and save by not having your lawyer answer basic questions. If you don't have a lawyer, this book will let you know what to expect in a divorce. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A valuable reference!
As a divorce attorney with over 35 years at the bar, I've seen a lot of books written for people thinking about divorce - mostly focused on how to crush your spouse or select the meanest lawyer you can find. This book is different - the focus is on reducing the combat while maintaining a relationship despite the stress of divorce. I give this book to my clients at the first visit, and many have passed it along to their friends. I heartily recommend "How to Avoid the Divorce from Hell..." It may not save your marriage, but it can help you (and your spouse) survive the divorce with your sanity intact.5-0 out of 5 stars Practical, useful and well-written divorce guide
I'm a judge who has heard divorce and child custody cases for the past five years.A divorce attorney recently shared a copy of this book with me, as she has already been doing with her clients.I must say that it isan excellent book, full of practical suggestions for getting through adivorce while doing the minimum possible damage to your children.Chapter11 is entitled "Courts and Judges."I wish everyone could readthat before they come to court. It makes real for the parties how limitedthe court's ability will be to really do justice in your case, and whycourts should be the very last resort, used only after you've genuinelytried to resolve matters on your own.Judges can never understand yourfamily - they can only get a snapshot-type presentation.Sue Talia usesher 20 years of experience to make these limitations clear. She alsoprovides tips for choosing good attorneys, evaluating settlements, keepingthings in perspective, etc. It's a very good book, well worth the price. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars To be first and only ... for marriage is a bounded eternal state
What is a Catholic annulment & why do I need one?
5-0 out of 5 stars A Helpful Guide For Those in the Annulment Process
Annulling a marriage is one of the thorniest practices of the Roman Catholic Church. People who are granted annulments are given a whole new lease on life, but for those who are denied an annulment, the news can be devastating. For Catholics, an annulment means that a sacramental marriage never took place. The most common reaction to this is "I went to the wedding, what do you mean a marriage never took place?" People begin to wonder if an annulment means that children from such unions are illegitimate (no). Others wonder what right the Church has to declare a marriage null, and see the process as judgmental and vindictive. Others believe that annulments are only granted to those willing to pay a hefty price tag. With so much negative press, it is no wonder why so many people find the annulment process intimidating and decide not to pursue having a marriage annulled. 5-0 out of 5 stars This book is user-friendly, rich in concept and practicality
This book is a user-friendly one.The question and answer format is used to its highest possiblity. It deals with all of those questions we never bothered to ask our high school religion nun or college theologian, and nowwish we had. As both a civil and a canon lawyer dealing in divorce andannulments, I cannot think of one question not asked asked and answeredhere. The index makes it even easier to navigate the concepts explored. The result is a book that explains the concepts but also tells you how todeal practically with them in the context of the Church's laws and canons. This book takes the whole package of married life and puts it intoCatholic perspective. This start to finish result, especially starting atthe time of the marriage, is the crux of what so many do not understandabout the Catholic Church and marriage.Foster's approach is totallysuccessful just because of its simplicity. The book should be read bythose thinking of marriage and not just those far down the road. It'sassistance to both is what makes this book so important. ...
