Awesome Book
I bought this book last february because I didn't want to pay the high cost of a lawyer and my divorce was uncontested and we had worked out all the details ourself. Well, the book was great yestersay 12/03/99 we were granted a divorce and it cost us each $55.00! Yup that's it!

Great for simple divorces.A starting point for others.
It provides every form you need for a divorce, and drafts on the separation agreeement.Is all you need if your divorce will be uncontested, no child support, etc.You can have your divorce for lessthan $150.If it will be contested, or if there are children involved, youmay want to get a lawyer anyway.

an excellent guide that needs updating with the new forms
This is a very helpful book because of its concise explanation of the filing process and principally useful because of the forms, some of which are now obsolete (the financial statement).This book needs updating tobring it back to its original usefulness.If the forms were current thiswould be a five star rated book. ... This book is fantastic!
I highly suggest anyone thinking about divorce buythis book first!It doesn't matter if you are from NY or not, the book explains enough about the process that it works for most states. Great Book!

Fantastic, I felt empowered and less emotional. Great book.
This book held me to the facts.The forms and charts helped me to fill in the blanks at my own pace and therefore the whole process of divorce was much less overwhelming.I still needed professional help at times, but I was educated and prepared for such times.Great book for a difficult change in life. ... Help When You Need It
What a great resource!I wish this kind of useful information had been available when I was going through my divorce.The financial information alone would have made the book a great buy.

Provides the comprehensive information needed by anyone considering divorce
This book was really valuable. It covered just about every aspect of divorce -- more aspects than I knew existed when I started reading it -- and really broke down the information into clear, understandable language. And there's a chapter on issues just for men and just for women.

Okay, there are TONS of books on divorce, but the focus of this book is different.While you are just THINKING about the possibility of divorce, this book can give you a reality check.

Hypocrite.
Divorce without disaster?Please.If the way she handled my family's divorce is any indication, this woman doesn't have the first clue about avoiding the heartbreak and disasters of divorce.What kind of decent person encourages her client to drop a bombshell on his wife's lap and walk out on the last day of his childrens' school year?What kind of person suggests that it would be convenient to move out on a 3 day weekend that happens to coincide with his eldest child's graduation?What kind of woman discourages a man from at least trying counseling before ending a 19 year marriage and shattering his children?

Great Outline - Low on Detail
This book was great in that it covered a number of issues and topics that I otherwise would have absolutely no clue about.It's only downside is that each topic had only surface detail.It's a great outline though - you can always dig deeper with other resources.

SHOULD BE ABOUT COLLECTING PENSION
I was disappointed with this book.I think it was advertised wrong.I bought it because I am trying to get past due child support.Well if the father works "under the table" this book is not going to do you any good.You should only buy this book if you trying to collect child support from someone with a career.

Great book for women
I disagree with the above woman's remarks. She obviously has "issues" that need to be dealt with. I don't see how her biases are opinions that relate to this book.
Very useful...
I picked this book up, not as a wronged custodial mother or first wife, but as a second wife, trying to anticipate ways that my husband's first wife might further try to take advantage of him.A great deal of press has been given to struggling mothers and downtrodden first wives, but no one pays any attention to the husbands who end up getting bled dry by their first wives.I found this book to be a great resource, not just for women looking to get what's "rightfully theirs", but also for men looking to protect what they've "rightfully earned" through hard work.I'm a social worker, so of course I agree that custodial parents should receive child support.But somehow, we've gotten the notion that women are automatically better parents simply because they're women and men are always abusive jerks.The only reason I don't give this book five stars is because Shulman seems to be cashing in on the pervading notion that all men are scum and deserve to be wrung dry.I happen to be married to wonderful guy who got taken to the cleaners and we're using this book to prevent him from being cleaned out.Having said this, I do recommend this book.It covers everything from military pensions, to retirement plans (QDROs), to railroad pensions and the information is very specific.I found it very informative. ... Good Basic Info But Non-Specific
I probably had the wrong expectations for this book but I was hoping it would (quickly) help me validate whether info I've used required permission.I suppose it did this in an indirect way, however, the free use stuff included old songs etc. that were not appropriate for my topic.
Excellent, practical advice
I made the mistake of buying the first edition of this book (published in 2001), but found it to be an excellent guide to the legal issues involved with public domain textual material.I have already published one book which relied heavily on public domain materials, and am working on a second, and when I bought this book I had several specific questions that I was trying to answer.This book answered all of them, as well as some that I hadn't thought of!I'll probably end up buying the second edition, just to see what has changed in the last few years.

One of the most useful books I have ever encountered
This fat and informative book is a goldmine for anyone interested in public domain works, whether writings, music, art, films or just about anything else. The author, Attorney Stephen Fishman, begins with an examination of copyright laws and the public domain. After that, the book begins each of the chapters on copyrightable materials with a handy checklist for use in determining public domain status, and then launches into a discussion of how to determine the public domain status of such an item. Too brief, can be easily summarized in two steps
I was very disappointed.The book basically says:Get a good attorney, consult with a good accountant.Not helpful except for those who don't know much about their financial situation. I gave it two stars only because it may be helpful to such individuals.

Don't Look Back
I absolutely loved this book. I read it in 3 days. They way Linda Lael Miller is so descriptive without going overboard is great. This is the first of the 3 book series and I have already bought the second one "Never Look Back." And the 3rd one "One Last Look." I highly reccommend this series. I also like how hot Tony Sonterra is in the book.

MOVE OVER JANET EVANOVICH!
Picked this up in the mystery section of my local library. I though LLM was a mushy romance novelist = well, she broke out here!Tension, delicious sarcasm, repartee, hunk of a hero and Clare is an angst ridden heroine.
loved it!!for adult readers that can handle more than one plot

This book is a mirror of my former wife.
Those people who have written a negative review of this book are either the abusers themselves or have no experience or have never delt with the reality that this book uncovers. Where's their names? Maybe they are judges, attorneys, the.rapists, etc. Damn Good Book
