4-0 out of 5 stars From a law firm in EGYPT
As a partner in an international law firm in Cairo, Egypt I was very interested in the book.Because of the rules of Islamic law it is much worse to have children abducted to the Middle East than to other places. However it is important to realize that all the Arab countries are notidentical and that their legal systems may have very differentcharacteristics, laws, traditions, etc. While Islamic law is normallycited as a basis for the Arab secular laws it is interpreted verydifferently in different countries.Remember that no matter how manyinternational and national agencies that you talk to, it is stillultimately you who has to manage the process of getting your child back andone of the most importat and urgent steps you need to take is to obtainlocal counsel in the country where you child has been abducted to.

5-0 out of 5 stars ..It put everything into perspective
Personal Review from a parent: I bought this book when my daughter was abducted to India in May of '98.I was so releived to have such a great source of information that I was able to read and understand. It didn'tcome from the State Department, (lord knows how many copies ofInternational Abduction PREVENTION packets they sent me after my daughterwas gone.) it didn't come from a national missing children's agency, butfrom a parent who has experienced the outrage first hand. The informationput me in a position of being somewhat in control of what needed to bedone. The level of shock that I expereinced at first kept me from doingwhat really needed to be done immediately. When I bought the book, it puteverything in perspective and I was able to get things accomplished on myown. I have used the book to teach and update my own attoneys on the lawsand procedures on international abduction. My own daughter is now homesafely and the book will be passed on to my attorney who may come to thisexperience again an for that parent will be prepared even before theygetto court in the first place. THank you Maureen for your insight, wisdomand strength. -CJ Beach Mother of Mallika Renee Beach

3-0 out of 5 stars A good summary of publicly available information.
Although Ms. Dabbaugh has made a good effort to assist other victim parents in this summary of pubilicly available information, it should be noted that her presentation of Islamic law is often in error.Incidentsreported to be representative of the application of the Shariah (Islamic)Law within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are not factual, can mislead thereader, and appear to be representative of a negative ethnic stereotype ofthe Arabic culture and traditions. In circumstances involving the custodyabduction of children to the Islamic countries, it is advised that thereader seek advice from the US Department of State as well as the Embassyrepresenting the nation to which the child has been abducted. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars written for a fouth grader
This book reads like it was written ten years ago, and updated to get a new publication date. The information is simplistic, and presented as if the author thinks her audience cannot understand.I quote:"Do you see my point? The court 'must' (a requirement), order 'additional support' (an increase, or more than)".Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource
This book thoroughly and thoughtfully examined the complexities of providing child welfare services in First Nations communities. The story of Lester's suicide was heartbreaking but the strength of the people who wanted to help was inspiring. This would be an excellent text for use in Native social work programs to highlight the many challenges on reserve social workers face.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential addition to domestic attorney's library
Laura Morgan's treatise on child support is an essential addition to the library of every lawyer who handles domestic litigation involving child support issues. The comprehensive and exhaustive analysis of issuesinvolved in applying child support guidelines is extremely helpful, nomatter whether the attorney is dealing with an issue that has beenlitigated numerous times in that attorney's jurisdiction or has never beenaddressed. With the growing importance of child support guidelines in themodern domestic practice, the complexity of the issues involved, and theserious financial impact that a client may suffer by improper applicationof the guidelines, this book fills a void. ...
