Try the second edition
I'm the author and wanted to let you know that if you're interested in this book, you may want to buy the second edition which has expanded information.It has a different title - How to Parent With Your Ex: Working Together for Your Child's Best Interest.

This is a book I'd like to see all divorced parents read!
I work for a social services agency and many of my clients are trying to cope with visitation/access.I liked this book a lot because it gives straight advice about real situations.The emphasis is on working things out, but it also tells parents how to handle it if they can't.This is a book I am going to recommend to my clients because it gives them real tips on how to make things work.There are great things like lists of things parents shouldn't say to their kids and lists of things to pack for visitation/access time.There are also good tips about how to make transitions work - often the most difficult time for children.It really is a handbook- a manual for living with visitation/access.This is a book I'd like to see all divorced parents read.

Good if you are really new to divorce and visitation
This book is o.k., but doesn't offer any new advice.It's mostly filled with common sense.If you are on friendly terms with your ex, and he/she is a little clueless, maybe you could give it to them.Read more

my review
One solution to child support collection problems is to make 50% joint custody the norm.Then there will be no need to have a hugh state beaurocracy enforcement.50-50 joint custody means both parents will have equal rights and responsibilities, there will be no need for either to pay child support, no need to transfer money or have a state agency to monitor it.If one paren fails to live up to their bargin, only then the other could go back to court and petition for sole custody.The past 30 years have shown the entire social experiment is a failure.Now's the time to change the law and make a better system that works.

Bad News Bears - Get the WitchHunters out!!!
Here we go again. A totally unobjective review of the child support system in America. It is blantatly clear that any parent that skips out on their child in terms of not only financial support but emotional support has got some serious problems. However, the child support laws, enforcement policies and system are huge failures. This book instead treats them as a wonderful solution to the problem of the failed family unit in America - NOT!!!
Destroying families and fathers one case at a time.
This is a well documented discussion of how to get blood from a stone, or put another way, how to enforce indentured servitude, a form of slavery, to the maximum advantage.It smacks of 17th century studies aimed a adjusting the size of cotton bales to maximize the total pounds of cotton each slave could load per day. What it fails to address is that indentured servitude, and all forms of slavery, have been illegal in the US since the Civil War.Of course David Chambers is a professor of law, and therefore blinded to moral or ethical considerations that might have been in his book. Instead of elimination of a hateful system of servitude of men, he proposes a massive tax on all non-custodial men to pay women for breaking up our families and taking our children.Unfortunatly you can't make wrong into right by doing wrong more effectively.Like the 99lb "optimum" bale of cotton, an optimum way of extracting money from men has little merit.Another father is driven to suicide every 6 minutes in the US after lawyers take away his family and bind him into the involuntary indentured servitude called "child support."This book fails to address any of the massive human toll or to propose any real solutions. It merely fantacizes about ways to tighten the already overstrained legal screws.

Worth the read, but with caution.
This book depicts the judicial system as corrupt. If you start out with that in mind you will tend to feel victimized. The system is a collection of laws, attitudes, accepted norms and people doing a job. To expect everything to come to halt to take care of you and your children is unrealistic. Judges, lawyers, mediators and the rest of the system didn't get up this morning bent on doing you harm. They are doing a job, just as you do your job. With guidelines, bosses and parameters they have to meet.
what dads should look like when going to court
Numerous case studies are cited which are very interesting to read. There is also an excellent section on what dads should look like when going to court (hint: no flashy cufflinks, expensive suits, etc.). Very good read.

Great 4 Fathers who are Victims of a Corrupt Judicial System
This book was very well written and a valuable resource for fathers who have had their child kidnapped by an uncaring mother.The book exposes the judicial system for what it is-CORRUPT.Judges, lawyers, and theirsupporting cast are like the lions eating the Christians.Unfortunately,these despicable people have zero regard for children or other people, butonly for the money that they can extract at the expense of other people'spain and conflict.It is ironic that those in charge of the judicialsystem should be the ones locked up behind bars for what they do is farmore criminal than a typical crook.This book is good ammunition againstthese judical despots. ... Adult Adoptee Endorses This Book
As an adult adoptee, I can say I needed this book when I was younger. The title is deceiving. It tackles all the issues adoptees and even foster kids can relate to. I wish my parents had done these ceremonies with me. Some of them would have helped a lot. The ones around fear, loss, transitions, and self-esteem would have been especially helpful. Get this for your family today -- don't waste another minute thinking about it.

Great, effective approaches to issues with adopted & bio kids
I have used suggestions in this book many times when issues came up with my daughter, and even used ideas here to come up with some of my own.The ceremonies were fun, easy to adapt and effective ways to raise issues for discussion.They were suprisingly effective at getting us unstuck so we could move on.
