Notable for its ease of use.
Shapiro's "American Legal Quotations" is notable for its ease of use. It is more than simply a listing of pithy quotations. The sections of the book are arranged alphabetically by 208 topic headings and it has a rich indexof authors and key words. Moreover, the quotations are keyed to preciselegal citations so that legal writers can use the quotations withconfidence. As a bonus, the book is fun to browse and read at leisure. Don't waste your money
The problems with this French legal dictionary begin on its cover, which labels it as being "Fran�ais-Anglais/French-English," implying that it only translates only in one direction, when in fact, it contains both a French-to-English and an English-to-French section. This kind of lack of attention to detail is evident throughout the book: accents are wrong (�tre instead of �tre on the title page, cel� instead of cela in the introduction), as are capitalization (referring to the language as le Fran�ais-which means "the Frenchman"-instead of as le fran�ais) and punctuation (instructif, utile, et pratique instead of instructif, utile et pratique). In the bibliography, even the title of one of the author's own writings is misspelled (La Facilite sous le Chapitre 11; facilite is apparently meant to be faillite, i.e., bankruptcy).Read more

Legal Dictionary?
I have a hardbound Black's but got this one to carry with me to class at law school.My advice is to get Black's paperback.I am very disappointed by the frequency with which I have to go to Black's after finding that the Collin dictionary does not have the term I need to find.It has usual terms like orphan, disrespect, and kill, but does not have many terms you'd think you'd find in a legal dictionary.Today it was "assumpsit".Who knows what it will be tomorrow.
