1-0 out of 5 stars HOKEY
Anyone who says the OJ Simpson case was correctly decided in the courtroom deserves neither mymoney nor respect. Plus, add on the fact that he was friends of the so-called "Dream Team" makes that even more laughable. This book is a joke - I borrowed it from a friend - and she asked me to throw it away after I was done.So now it's at the bottom of the landfill - where it belongs.IS THERE A MINUS RATING POSSIBLE FOR THIS BOOK?Giving it one star is an insult to stars~~~~~~

3-0 out of 5 stars What Seemed Obvious Was Completely Wrong
Cyril Wecht MD, JD has performed more than 14,000 autopsies and overviewed another 35,000 examinations in his more than 40 years of experience. Wecht studied the autopsy records of JFK and concluded that the single-bullet theory just couldn't be true (p.13). The forensic evidence says that Sirhan was not the killer of Sen. Robert Kennedy. Wecht was involved in eight of the nine cases in this book, except Jon-Benet Ramsey (p.15). Wecht is a commentator for CNN and other television networks. Some of these cases are well-known.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must For Lovers of CSI

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Forensic Lover's Dee-Light
A wonderful triumph for M. Lee Goff!Yet another forensic masterpiece that I did not want to end.His comforting, empathetic, thorough coverage of the material was engrossing and tantalizing.I hope he will grace us with another treasure such as this. His success is well worth the "gross-out" factor (others - not moi). Very readable and yet mesmorizing.

5-0 out of 5 stars a "must read" in the category
This book succeeds at all levels. He has hard science a layperson can follow. He has history as he was in on the process of forensic entymology becoming a recognized field. He has case histories. He has thoughts on being a forensic entymologist.("I know a life can be radically changed, even ended by my testimony.") And he has funny parts (really) that you can buttonhole your family to read to them aloud. Goff seems an honorable and compassionate man.I want to read his thoughts.I've read any number of books on forensic science for the lay reader so it isn't often anymore that I learn so much new.I had not read one on bugs before and recommend this one with enthusiasm.

4-0 out of 5 stars Autobiographical explanation of forensic entomology
Goff is a forensic entomologist, basically someone who figures out how long someone has been dead by the insects on, in, or under the body. The book is a tale both historical and technical about the subject: historical in that it provides many examples of his work over the years, and technical in that he provides a good overview of just what he's looking for-which insects he expects to appear at what time.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK IS GREAT!!!!
I am physician-lawyer from the Philippines. I practice in the field of Clinical Forensic Medicine with special interest in Forensic Anthropology. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in forensics-be they lawyers, physicians, judges and law enforcement officers. This book is "the" book if you want to get started in forensic anthropology and forensic osteology. It provides an introduction to osteology and how it is used to determine age, sex and race. The book outlines the basics of laboratory analysis of skeletal remains, field methods used in forensic anthropology, documentation, report writing, court testimony, and human rights application of forensic anthropology. Forensic forms used in actual cases are even included.4-0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive text for my students.Highly recommended!
I am using this text in the anthropology lab with my students of Introduction to Forensic Sciences. As a former student of Dr. Ramey Burns, I am convinced she is an excellent educator who enjoys working with newgenerations of forensic scientists.Students from First World societiesfind chapter 15 extremely helpful in our seminar discussions about theimportance to learn and to respect local cultures when investigating allsort of crimes. For the next edition of the manual, I would like torecommend the inclusion of scientific advancements in Latin America theauthor has contributed to develop. For instance, normative standards frompopulations with Latin American biological affiliation may be used in theidentification of skeletal remains here in North America. ... Read more
