This treatise is second only perhaps to Glannon's Civ Pro as a law school study aid.Unlike Glannon though, this book would have enough depth to serve as a general guide for a practitioner.It is extremely easy to find the information you need: the index is comprehensive, the rule being covered is on the top corner of every page, and a topic for every paragraph is included in the margin.The text is straightforward and accessible with a good mix of black letter, rationales, and history/background.This is by far the best single volume treatise on evidence that I've found - and I've looked at every one in my school's law library. ... An essential guide
This book is a must-read for anyone who employs or cross-examines expert witnesses. And, frankly, anyone who might be called upon to give expert witness testimony would be well-advised to read it as well. Great Resource
As a mental health professional dealing with court issues both for myself and colleagues, this book has been a great resource. The information has enabled us to enter a courtroom with much more confidence and much less anxiety. Mr. Stern's work has helped to make sense of an often frustratingand confusing experience.

Interesting but incomplete
Schum and Starale have put together some very interesting commentary and analysis of questions about the role played by evidence related issues in the history of probability and decision science,as well as current evaluations concerning evidence in recent work done in fuzzy logic,possibility theory,Bayesian conditionalization,networks,etc.

A true horror story
Huber's book is a frightening look at what happens when critical, life-influencing decisions for our society are made by a group of people (juries) who's most analytical candidates are rejected in order to provide plaintiffs and their counsel with windfalls. A scientist's view
As a person who has been a non-corporate scientist for 25 years, I strongly endorse this text.It walks the reader through the many hideously-flawed legal "arguments" that have set the stage for travesties of justice, based on scientific misinformation and distortion through the years.Most of the American public (and the lawyers who toady to it) wants to believe what it believes on the basis of intuition and supposition rather than objective evidence, and Huber shows why this is an altogether-invalid approach.The reviewer who gave this book a one-star rating is a plaintiff's attorney-- I would "make book" on that.

An Engineer's View
A must read for any person involved with the product realization process. The only way to protect you and your company against junk science when you are hauled into court with your product or service is to understand that junk science exists and to be prepared to provide real and concrete data to support the validity of your design, not simply close your eyes to their opinions and say "There is nothing wrong". Several of the companies mentioned in the book were severally damaged by what this books talks about. A number of excellent products have been taken of the market never to come back and more will never see the light of day because of those who have no other desire that to either make money or push their unsubstantiated agendas have been allowed to take advantage of our tort court systems in the USA.Read more

Why would anybody read ANYTHING this man wrote?
Worth reading
Whatever your feelings about the author or the jfk assassination industry, this straightforward well presented pro "lone nut" account is well worth the read. Interestingly, reviews of jfk assassination books tend to be provocative and indeed this book itself will provoke in that it opposes the generally held view of most Americans, that Oswald did not act alone. One of the more appealing aspects of this book - more so than Gerald Posners "Case Closed", is that it draws attention to the difficulty so called conspirators would have had in removing evidence of additional shooters immediately following the assassination through the past 40 plus years to the present day.
Simple act of fiction
This book is uniformly praised by ignorant people who want to believe that Lee Oswald did it.Fuhrman saw an opportunity to take their money, and he took it.Good for him.I am sure if there are other opportunities to cash in on his 15 minutes of fame, he will take them too. THE BEST HEARSAY BOOK OUT THERE !!!!!
This book is the sleeper of the 2ndry sources on Evidence-hearsay, this is simply an excellent book on the topic - uses a standardized approach to every hearsay exception + policy. THe other kickin read on Evidence is the latest Gilberts, Professor Goodes Sum & Substance CD's + Professor Goodes "Court Room Evidence Handbook" - by Thompson-West - the most succinct & lucid mini-evidence treatise. Finally, the www.Cali.org lessons are an infinite resource of drill problems with solutions. Should also mention the ExamPro on evidence is pretty good - but Cali is better.

Good Content, Well-Organized
This is a good book.Use it as a supplement in your Evidence class and you'll know hearsay as well as anyone.

I am in complete agreement with the very thoughtful review provided by "abones80."This casebook provides a disproportionate amount of questions rather than answers for those trying to glean some grasp of black letter law.On the subject of hearsay, I recommend A Student's Guide to Hearsay by Clifford S. Fishman.
