Invaluable with the Saltzburg text!
You MUST buy this if your class is using the textbook this guide is keyed to.It has very helpful quick outlines at the beginning of each chapter and then makes sense of every major case, throughout perfectly following the text.It was definitely my secret weapon for being better prepared for being called on in class and preparing for the final exam.

Excellent Reference: One of the Best
This is one of the finest forensic science books I have ever read. Several factors make this a remarkably superb and valuable work: The depth of presentation, the amazing number of high quality images and illustrations which actually appear on the same page as the descriptive text, the uncommonly clear writing, and the widely ranging topics going beyond the basic subject into such relevant and useful areas as the legal aspects of bloodstain pattern analysis. Youth Gangs
This book is by far one of the most innovative and insightful books that I have read in some time. They also challenge the more common images that gangs represent as well. I found myself questioning the basic reasons for there are gangs in America, and found myself finding a whole new perspectie as these people view their dscieion to be in a gang as an economic choice of survival, not that of one they get into because they have a choice. I found this to be one of the most informative books about understanding the gang concept in America. Howerver, it also helpedme to debunk the same myths about gang and agang structure as well. This book made me look at gangs as an alternative economic choice for those involved in the gangs and the difficult choices that many of them face that those on the outside of the gang life will never have to make. Good articulation of gang research into a well-written text.
Shelden and colleagues do an excellent job in analyzing the literature,from Thrasher to present, on gangs and the culture surrounding them.Theycritically examine statistical data and use several sociological theoriesin an attempt to better understand this growing societal phenomena.Theoriginal research from the Detroit area interviews is compelling.Certainly a book that would aid anyone's understanding of gangs, gangculture, or even graffiti (they use photographs to help explain this). Black's Law Is An Eye Opener
Do you sometimes wonder why anyone could possibly want to defend the scum, the losers, the obviusly-guilty-because-the newspapers-said-so?Well, if you think that way you will find a very good answer in this book. Roy Black describes four different cases which seemed impossible to defend, yet he did and did it well. He lets you in on what it's like to be on the defense side of the aisle. His writing style is smooth and flowing and each of the cases was so interesting I found it hard to put the book down. For me this was one of those books you can't help but read fast because it's fascinating, yet want to read slow so it lasts longer. For any True Crime genre fan, this is a MUST read.

Excellent Step by Step Understanding of Casework
I really enjoyed "Black's Law." He tells four different seemingly story-like narratives about four different cases. He discusses in detail every aspect of trying a case from research to voire dire. If you are interested in either legal strategy or just in a good story, you should read this book.

like new does not mean heavy highlighting
When I ordered the book, the description said "like new".I expected some highlighting, but not highlighting over 30%(+/-) of the book.That was a disappointment.I would not have been as disappointed if the description had read "heavy highlighting;good condition otherwise".However, I will purchase again.Delivery was prompt; and I passed it on to a fellow student.
