4-0 out of 5 stars Useful book
This book was somewhat useful, but I found it to be not as helpful as a Gilberts Law Summary. The "Nutshell" was, in some places, just as confusing and convoluted as the case book. But it was very helpful in assisting me to understand some of the basic concepts.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Only Ad Law Book You'll Ever Need
The Administrative Law Nutshell was instrumental to my success in my administrative law class.Gellhorn and Levin (mostly Levin) provide a concise and careful analysis of the often-feared administrative law procedures. The authors provide step-by-step examples and supporting material to help the reader better understand everything from the general principles of administrative law to the dreaded state and local agency procedures. I still keep the Ad Law Nutshell in my office in case of emergencies.A great source for quick and clear answers. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Contains interesting things, but somewhat disappointing.
I really thought this book would take a pretty broad view at constitutions and other fundamental government principles throughout the world. In the end, I wound up feeling misled and a little cheated.Fact:virtually all of this book is about the U.S. Constitution alone, and specific issues in American Constitutional law and thought. There are a handful of perfunctory mentions of other countries, but only South Africa gets more than a sentence or three:to wit, the last chapter is about a South African Constitutional Court decision holding that the government should be required to build adequate and affordable housing for children. An interesting discussion -- but too little, too late.5-0 out of 5 stars Intelligently designing democratic institutions
First of all, I would like to say that I appreciate Cass Sunstein works a lot. Basically, I try to read everything he writes. Although here and there I would have a slightly different opinion (v.g. in free speech matters I tend to have a broader view of this fundamental right) Sunstein's books are always insightful, refreshing and profound. He has deeply influenced my view on constitutional issues.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You will be glad you read it, even if you disagree.
I will begin with criticisms of High Crimes & Misdemeanors. These are nagging little criticisms I make because the points I'll allude to are the sorts of things that would make me roll my eyes a little, or excuse myself for a couple of minutes for a breather if this were a conversation rather than a book.Ms. Coulter has suffered the fate of all those who seek to insert comic relief or sarcasm into serious material.Witticisms, sarcasm, barbed ironies, sage observations, facts, foregone conclusions, and research don't always blend perfectly to suit all the people all the time. Some of the (perhaps a little mean-spirited) humor at the expense of liberals, I found sophomoric and/or repetitive and/or a little snide. There, I've gone on record with that, and let me say that for me, these irritations accounted for about 12 sentences in the book.Usually they were the kickers to a "call & response", or a wrap-up rhetorical statement or question.I tried to bear in mind that I really didn't buy this book for the comedy.
1-0 out of 5 stars Throwing up has liquified her neo-con brain
Atheists have a lower divorce rate than born again christians but I guess thats just a fluke hu, Ann. They must be bad people somehow. People like Ann can't be christians because they shame one person for having an affair and then forgive another that is an alcoholic because he's a republican. She speaks to people who want to believe so bad they don't care that she doesn't have a christian bone in her body. True christians don't defame, judge or claime superiority. She doesn't have any idea of what being Jesus-like is. Oh and intelligent design is not science. Science is how Religion is why- They are too different questions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly RecommendedLifetime Guide on How to Prepare, Preserve and Protect Your Estate Matters
Patti Spencer, Esquire, is widely recognized as an authority on estate planning matters. She has written a weekly column in the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal, "Taxing Matters" since 1999.Her book, "YOUR ESTATE MATTERS" grew out of those weekly columns.Patti is known for her "down to earth" conversational style and for using humor in presenting what most times is a dry and dull subject.Patti presents very valuable information and advice which will enable the reader to greatly incerease their knowledge on the subject. The book is easy to read and helps debunk many myths about estate planning, including the one about:if you don't have a will, the state gets everything."This book is the one resource I have found that provides practical and understandable advice and reasonings regarding estate matters.Patti has really hit a home run with this book.It is a must read for anyone, from an individual, a retiree, a business person or anyone who is getting prepared to address their estate matters. In 35 years of professional life, this is one of those valuable resources that has the potential to have a profound impact on changing the way people think about the subject of estate planning.I highly recommennd this book and will be sure that my business clients, especially those with family owned businesses, get this book and read it cover to cover. It should become a part of every business owner's business survival kit and everyone's personal library.
5-0 out of 5 stars good organization of estate planning topics
The columns are interesting in themselves, but are much more searchable with an index and grouping by subject, starting from planning early in life, then progressing through changing needds at marraige, parenthood, retirment, and estate settlement. This is a great guide for learning about transfer of wealth and how the government is a party to it.The quotations at the beginning of some topics are a nice opeing statement to get you thinking philosophically about a subject, or just to give you a chuckle while reading an otherwise dry subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Humorous
I was thrilled to find that someone finally wrote a resouce book that I can understand that answers my financial and estate planning questions! The author's sense of humor actually turned dull topics into fun reading.I recommend this book for anyone planning to see an attorney for a will or estate settlement. You'll be well prepared. ... Read more

Pozgar's book is organized by legal topic and cites relevant case law in all instances. It is an excellent overview of American law as it applies to the health care practitioner or organization. He has taken a topic thatit difficult to communicate and made it very enjoyable reading.Studentswill find it much easier reading than most graduate level texts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great information for those new to health care law.
This book was very useful to me. I am a health information management student planning to enter a graduate health administration program. I took the class and this particular book was the text. Our instructor is a lawyerand runs risk management at our university hospital. The text furtherexplained basic legal priciples and related them to health care. The textis easy to read and gives several references to actual documents. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Understand U.S. Immigration Law through examples.
The most striking thing about this book is the extensive use of examples throughout the book. One of the main problems in understanding the law is trying to figure out how it applies to your particular situation. The use of examples is one of the best ways for an author to explain the various aspects of any law. In this book, the author did such a fantastic job that I have picked up the book at various times in the last decade to figure out how I can solve my own particular immigration problem and I was able to fix it very fast. He does such a great job that I got carried away by the confidence the book inspires and decided to handle one of the more difficult immigration situations myself. It worked out alright but in hindsight, I should have taken the assistance of a lawyer to make things easier for myself. 5-0 out of 5 stars A must read
This is the best book on this subject available. I am a new citizen to this country, and it would have not happened so easily without this great book. Thank you, Mr. Wernick.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very usefull and well written
This is an excellent book for anyone going through the hurdles of US Immigration. The author covers all bases and still keeps the text easy to read and easy to reference. I have seen Mr. Wernick speak and have read his authoritative newspaper column and this book lives up to his usual high standards. It is the only book of its kind you will need and with the high cost of legal advice, you will save time and money. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is terrible.
I thought I was purchasing an Administrative Law text book. This is not a text book. It is a book of this guy's opinion. For example, he writes that the courts are not well suited to the task of being a watchdog overagencies and says that the members of the Reagan Supreme Court believe thatit is not the proper judicial role for for judges to play an active role inpolicy making. The guy never mentions that the Consitution makes aseparation between the courts and legislature -- he just decides to bashReagan and his appointees. He also states: "...the Depts. ofEducation and energy are still alive and well today and apparently notendangered despite nearly 2 decades of attack by Republicanpresidents...even though the agency's (National Endowment for the Arts)budget is less than a pittance of the whole federal budget, the agency hasbecome the symbolic whipping boy of Speaker Newt Gingrich..."Thisopinion has nothing to do with administrative law, and is completelyunnecessary. I certainly hope anyone who has to read this book for a classwill think for themselves before taking what this guy says as law. Further,he says he's a professor at, according to US News, a fourth tier lawschool: Washburn University. However, I can't seem to find his e-mailaddress there. ... Read more

Every one of the 50 people at my son's wedding reheasal will be receiving one from me. Like a "Bible zealot", I am becoming a "US Constitution zealot." The book is small & easy to read, a good learning handbook for everyone.FREEDOM THROUGH KNOWLEDGE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Victim of Vast Right Wing Conspiracy
I think that some zealot right-wingers got a hold of this because I can't find the part about separation of church and state anywhere.Oh, that's right that did not exist until the Everson v. Board of Education decision in 1947.This was a 5-4 decision by a court packed with Roosevelt's socialist justices and they barely bought into this.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disaster.
This is one of the worst law books I have ever read.It was assigned for an upper-level constitutional class.Trying to decipher what the authors are attempting to impart through the near total use of squibs as opposed to full opinions, and their own cryptic notes interspersed among snipets of the cases, is next to impossible to accomplish. In addition, their particular method of editing is intrusive and annoying. Some of the brightest minds in the country have written classic opinions on the very important subjects in this book. Why in the world Sullivan and Gunther think they can do better is beyond me given their result.Avoid this book like the plaque if at all possible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Separation of Church and State Does Not Permit Harmful Acts
We live in a time where extremes of behavior seem to have almost become the norm. We have a long tradition of separation of church and state, where the rules of church and state seem to operate in parallel with almost no touching. And we seem to be in a time where the most fundamentalist Christian beliefs have become stronger in America while the most fundamentalist Islamic beliefs are being used to build an army for a holy war against America, the Great Satan.

A cop on the take, who can hide some evidence and manufacture the rest? A celebrity who can buy a trial, and later write a book about it?
