Not useful outside a high school course
The book is probably adequate as a textbook in a high school covering an introduction to Constitutional Law. Great text for high school students
This book is the text you wish you had in high school.It takes on the legal issues that have shaped our society through the eyes of the high school student.The author suceeds in distilling the facts and spirit of these historic moments in an accessible and non-condescending manner.I have enjoyed exploring this book with my kids. After teaching two semesters out of this book at the high school level, I found that I and the students were reading less and less of this book. At first, I was excited by about the book. However, it began to drag on me, when I soon realized, that there was no teacher's edition, no real high school activities, and limited reveiw questions. I had to start writing entire chapters and rarely used the actual textbook. The material was vague and over general at best. Little research was done into the deeper issues that can make the cases come alive. However, the lack of activities kill this book for me and I wonder why I switch from the Street Law book in the first place. Next year, I'll go back. ... Read more

Unnecessary Evils

Every once in a while a compilation will come out that is an actual literary work.
Ringing false alarms
This screed offers nothing of value. It is liberal fear mongering and slander of John Ashcroft because he is a conservative Christian, a Republican and an attorney-general who is doing his job. You only have something to fear from the Patriot Act if you are doing something wrong! The Patriot Act has not squashed political dissent or freedom of the press. It's absurd to suggest so. Maybe all these liberal fear mongers should spend some time in Iran or North Korea to understand true loss of liberties. As for the extra attention paid visitors from Arab countries, it is only common sense because those countries are the source of anti-US terror! I laugh at the politically correct lament over racial profiling. As a foreigner in the US, I am thankful for the additional security at airports and the watchful surveillance of so-called Islamic charities and Iranian diplomats taking photographs of public buildings. ... A call for justice
There are few who have produced such an important collection of essays regarding the mistreatment of indigenous people. I just finished reading the chapter on "The Radioactive Colonization of Native North America."It's a very sad episode that continues to this day, with the waste of our nuclear projects being put into weapons and dumped by the ton on the tribal people of Afghanistan and Iraq.The depleted uranium, and the mess that uranium mining and nuclear tests create effect not just native people, but all of us.It's estimated the 10,000 Americans have died from living downwind of the Nevada nuclear test sites.With the Bush administration planning to conduct more nuclear tests as they create a new "family" of nuclear weapons, Churchill's message is more important than ever.It's great that the elite establishment has brought so much attention to his work.In their effort to destroy and dismiss him, Churchill's books and ideas have come to the attention of tens of thousands of people.
CHURCHILL IS A AMERICAN CULTURAL INDENTITY THIEF
All of his books are based on lies. He states he is writing from his personal Native American experience, but he forgot to tell people HE IS A FAKE INDIAN.

I discovered Sykes when I read "Nation of Victims" several years ago.Interestingly, another book by a different author with the same name "The End of Privacy" was released about the same time as Sykes'"End of Privacy" by Reg Whitaker. An alarmist position

I found it to be one sided, for example, bad things that technology might develop are presented but good things that counterthem are not presented.
