This is a good overview of topics that should be included in a contract.For those of us with out legal training that need to write and review contracts... this is a good start!

Make your agent read this...but you should read
This is a great resource for dealmaking, but most actors and writers that I know aren't negotiating their own deals.The trick is to get your agent to work harder at creating opportunities, so that they actually have deals to make. Yes, your agent should read this book ... but for myself, as an actor/writer the book HOW TO AGENT YOUR AGENT...is my bible. It helps me kick my agents in the butt ( without them knowing)and I get results...they're working harder and I'm getting work.Also I liked that book with all the casting directors pictures...just in case you see them in Starbucks and want to say hello.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE REVIEW WAS FROM AN ARCHITECT WHO COMPLAINED THAT THE BOOK HARDLY MENTIONED "THE ARCHITECT." INSTEAD IT REFERS MOSTLY TO "THE DESIGNER," MEANING THE "DESIGN TEAM" WHICH AN ARCHITECT MAY LEAD. CONSTRUCTION, HOWEVER, IS MORE THAN ARCHITECTURE, AND THE BOOK'S CONTENT EXPLAINS THAT, ESPECIALLY IN THE PART ON "DESIGN-BUILD" CONTRACTS, A METHOD OF OPERATION THAT UTILISES A BUILDING CONTRACTOR'S EXPERIENCE FROM THE OUTSET.

Disappointing but useful
This book was written by two distinguished experts on tax policy and reviews the development of the campaign to end estate taxes at the federal level.In many cases it is quite informative.But compared to Jeffrey Birnbaum's book on the development of tax policy in Congress (Showdown at Guccci Gulch) is it quite light in a couple of areas.
Too partisan to prove useful
As a tax attorney, I was excited to purchase this book and get a non-partisan, in-depth look at what was going on with respect to the estate tax.Michael Graetz has a stellar reputation as a law professor, so I was doubly excited.
Who knew?
My grandfather was born in the rural South in 1885. With little help from family and no help from his government, he put himself through college. He married, became a dairy farmer and sired seven children which he brought up and thoroughly educated (all seven went to college)during the Great Depression. Of those seven children, his four sons all became his working partners and one son lived and raised his own family on the family farm.

Very Thorough and Detailed Book
This is a good book to help prepare someone with an estate plan before consulting a lawyer. Depending on your situation, it might be easier to use this book and some estate planning software instead of paying a lot of money for an attorney.I think the key here is that this book will help motivate people to TAKE CARE OF YOUR ESTATE!After you read some of the stories that occur when people fail to do this you will be glad you have purchased this book.It certainly is not a substitute for an attorney, but it will help make the layperson ask those critcal questions as to what should be done with their estate after they are deceased.It talks about avoiding estate taxes, setting up partnerships, trusts, financial planning, life insurance, and gives some referrals to professionals in each one of these fields. ... Out of date
This book has a copyright date of 1994.The Communications Decency Act was passed in 1996.The DMCA was passed in 1998.The Patriot Act was passed in 2001.This book is out of date.

Good for starting, but limited in space and somehow outdated
This book offers a good introduction to legal matters in the internet to people in any of the following situations: Good coverage of the field for layman and sysops
"Net Law" (cf. BKNLHLUI.RVW) was written for the lawyer."SysLaw" (cf. BKSYSLAW.RVW) was written for the layman, rather than lawyer, but was still aimed at sysops rather than the common herd. This book fills that space, and is the first I can recall that doesso.Read more

Useful for the interested attorney
This edited book is useful for attorneys that follow constitutional law issues and the debate on Qitmo detention issues.John Yoo writes an easily understood article that summarizes the Bush Admin argument.Unfortunately, the other authors were not selected to offer a different argument.Regardless of the absence of competing arguments, the summary of the enemy combatant cases is comprehensive and two authors provide unique perspectives of the response by the three branches of US govert.In short, four of the articles make this book worthy of your time, but buy the used book. ... not very sophisticated
While I'm a huge fan of the Q&A approach, this book just does a really bad job with it.The questions offer endless repitition of the same few (very basic) ideas, rather than altering the facts a little to get different results under the tax code.As a consequence, you'll do nothing but get bored trying to work through these questions, even if you're really trying to learn the material (because instead of getting hit with new ideas you'll just get question after question asking the same thing (and answer after answer that is identical, like they were written mostly just using cut-and-paste).Also, this book covers *much* less material than any law school corp. tax course.While it treats all the main topics (incorporation, distributions, mergers and reorgs), it does so only on a *highly* superficial level.

Excellent to have if you have a disagreement with the gov
I didn't intend to stand up to the IRS but had to due to circumstances beyond my control. Daily's book gives a comprehensive look at what constrains the IRS and what sort of leeway a taxpayer. What I found to be of the most value, though, was his simple explaination of complex circumstances. Daily breaks down various tax problems and solutions and suggests ways to prevent having the IRS resort to putting a lean on your home, etc. A must-have for anyone who doesn't still live at home.
"Stand Up To The IRS" (SUIRS) is an absolute, no-question, don't even think twice, must-have for any taxpayer's household financal tool drawer. Clearly written and presented in short, bite-sized chunks by asuccessful longtime tax attorney who has been through it all many times,SUIRS is an impressively inclusive text that can go a long way towardleveling the audit playing field for taxpayers -- if not outright tippingit in their favor. Loaded with sample forms, letters and where-to-find-ittables, this book earns its cover price in the Index alone.
