California Landlord's Law Book is a must!
I have been a landlord for 12 years. Every few years I purchase a revised version just to be sure that laws haven't changed that I should know about. This book is a must if you have rentals in California. It is very easy to understand, it has all the forms you may need on CD and can be referred to quickly when questions come up. I feel I am a better landlord because of this book. I have also loaned it to my friends when they felt that their landlord had not be treating them fairly. They also found it very helpful. I wouldn't be without it.

Very useful and practical handbook for Landlords
I read through the book before renting my place, and it provided me with very useful tips on the legality of various aspects of renting one's place. It also had templates and forms which were very handy, in drawing up a lease, issuing a receipt or generating a checklist. I would recommend this book for any landlord, whether you are renting out one house or multiple.

Great information for first time California Landlord
This was the only book I needed to become a landlord in California. With the included forms on CD, I was able to easily create a lease for my tenants and feel confident that I was doing everything legally. EXCELLENT BOOK!
A wonderful tool. This book has helped my family more than I can say. I highly recomend it.

I bought this guide for myself, then my mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within seven months.The workbook pages really helped me to know what questions to bring up with her.It saved a lot of time andaggravation after she passed away when I wasn't emotionally able to handletough decisions.There are so many extra tips in this workbook; it ishelpful even if you are going on vacation and someone needs to housesit. This workbook is helpful if you're 25 or 75.I highly recommend it.

An excellent scholarly work
In reading this review, keep in mind that I am a lay person in the truest sense of the word, and so I brought no prior understanding to the subject of "cultural ownership" in reading this book.With that caveat, my review:
long overdue, but something awry
How much we need a book that looks with unjaundiced eyes on the issue of cultural ownership and cultural appropriation.This is that book, but with a caveat:there is something slightly out of balance here, with the overbalance being in the form of abias toward an intellectual definition of ownership. Brown is a scholar, and a worthy one.As such, his virtue is a healthy skepticism toward all points of view, rather than an unreflective sympathy toward each.In a sense, he is a debunker, not a sequential believer, and this places him in a distinct relationship to his material that seems to this reader to militate against a sympathy toward that which cannot be explicated or analyzed by rational means.I know I am getting murky here.But the simple fact is that you cannot do justice to non-analytical traditions and points of view by the application of analysis.This is perhaps better explained by demonstration in a wonderfully subtle treatise by Kent Nerburn called Neither Wolf nor Dog.Here, in the guise of a novel or some sort of fictionalized non-fiction, a man who has lived with native people takes on the subject from a different angle.He, too, comes up a bit short by using a device that is perhaps too clever by half.But he gets me closer to an understanding by embodying conflicting points of view and expressing them with the conviction of different systems of belief.I suggest that the reader consider both these books as distinct halfs to a very difficult whole.Though the distance between them is great, it is in the space in the center that some true understanding of the problem of cultural appropriation and ownership will be found. ... Excellent Study Resource!
I just got through taking my Property I final and I can tell you from experience that this book was *very* helpful in preparing me!The exams are challenging and realistic.Also, in the answer key, it doesn't just tell you what the right answer is, but it tells you why it's right and why the other answers are wrong.Another thing I liked about it is that it has the subject matters broken down in the index by question numbers.After taking the exams, I was able to quickly determine where my strong areas were and where I needed to study more.I highly recommend this book for all 1Ls! ... Factual, acurate and in layman terms
I am experiencing some Deed problems in California and to try and get detailed information from the clerks office is impossible. This book has all the info you need. I highly recommend it!

An unbelievable bargain
If you need to change a deed on your house or other real property -- changed your name, separated, married, adding a survivor to inherit -- don't pay a lawyer or title company hundreds of dollars to do it. Buy this book. Read the instructions carefully, fill out the forms and then go to the county recorder's office and file it yourself. Even if you have to pay for parking. Read more

Not very useful for exam review
As acknowledged in the preface, "this book alone will not present an integrated coverage of the subject."It just focuses on a few areas and delves into them in great detail, without really providing any sort of overview or anything to help you complete the whole picture.Not the book to go to if you are expexting a comprehensive overview of wills and trusts.I was very disappointed with this nutshell, because isn't that what a nutshell is supposed to be?I would recommend trying to see if another line, such as Examples and Explanations, has a book on the area.

Recommended for both law students and paralegal students.
I liked this book when I was in law school.It "cut to the chase" and made the concepts of wills and trusts understandable. Although wills and trusts are separate courses in law school, I found the book has value for both courses by making difficult concepts understandable.Now that I am an instructor teaching wills and trusts for paralegals at a local college, I find the book valuable.I must admit that I made the mistake of lending it to a student.She won't give it back!
