5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must-have" for all construction disputes professionals.

5-0 out of 5 stars First rate
This is an outstanding reference for the researcher and patent attorney alike. The book provides a solid overview of patent law in the major markets, with emphasison pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechhnology patents. What distinguishes this book from others in its class, however, is the emphasis on practical and strategic aspects of patent filing and enforcement. The author has a lifetime's worth of experience in this field, and it shows. Moreover, the book isuncommonly well-written, with clarity and occassional humor.Highly recommmended!

5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding publication
This is quite simply the best general work on patent law and practice I've ever read. Presented in clear, crisp language and with wit and flair, it is essential reading for anyone in the patent and allied professions and I would suggest mandatory reading for any students. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars title abstracting in all 120 kentucky counties
as a company who searches titles in all 120 kentucky counties, everyday, we believe this book is useful in showing the various basic terms in real estate and the nesessary use of title insurance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Used this text in my Masters of Science in Real Estate
The book is useful if you have no experience with real estate law.It presents real estate legal concepts in a logical manner breaking topics up into such things as easements, etc. However, much of the information is covered in the real estate law class if you have taken the California Salesperson exam.

5-0 out of 5 stars Complete, concise and understandable
I am not a law student, but I want to feel secure in the legal aspects of my activities as a real estate investor. This book provides exactly that. It is easy to understand and very well organized. It may be missing a fewexamples for some complex points, but in general is a great book foranybody who want to really know the ins and outs of real estate law. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars fundamental rights
This is a well-done book, but one that will be a bit hard for those not at least somewhat familiar with constitutional law to follow.Gerstmann argues that marriage is a "fundamental right" under the constitution, and as such it is illegitimate to refuse to extend this right to same-sex couples. In making this argument he draws interesting analogies to the court's free speach jurisprudence. He tries to show how the more common "gender discrimination" argument doesn't work.I think this part is not 100% convincing, but it is a sophisticated approach. His discussion of the various "slippery slope" objections to gay marriage are also quite good.To my mind the biggest draw-back of this book is that it often makes quite teloscopic reference to other books (including Gerstmann's earlier book) in the place of detailed arguments. This book is not very long as it is, and it probably would have been better servered to give these arguments in more detail rather than just refering to other work as often as it does. This is especially the case for readers who do not have at least some constitutional law background.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why same-sex marriage is Constitutional
Want to read a really good book setting out the case for the Constitutionality of same-sex marriage? This is it.
5-0 out of 5 stars A legal book for everyone
This fascinating book is cogent, well argued and a straight-forward read. It is clearly targeted at lawyers, but is very accessible by the lay audience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic. One of the best study guides on the market.
Brief, clear statements of the law. Lots and lots of practice problems. Just a fantastic study guide.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent treatise
This is an excellent treatise on the law of property.Because the sections on Bailments, Gifts, Rights of Possessors of Land, Present Possessory Freehold Estates, and Future Interests were very useful, I would recommend this book for the first semester of property.Unfortunately, Hovenkamp's coverage of issues traditionally discussed in second semester property is not as useful. For second semester, I would suggest using Understanding Property of the Understanding Series. This series is published by Lexis.Understanding Property is also useful for first semester, but because Hovenkamp's treatise covers first semester issues well, it's not really necessary.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another night law students dream
This is a very consise treatise of Property Law - it is not your typical hornbook - this is an excellent study book - with excelent hypos - it has very terse restatements of the law with killer Essay - hypo problems ( Lots of them too - numbers of roughly tracking the importance of the subject - IE lots of Adverse Possession probs - a few finders law probs ) - its like a Siegels or Emanuels Q&A but with hard covers - it is really a "find" for those studying property law. Im tickled the most recent edition is 2001 ! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Arcane
I just started property class, and I've listened to this set a few times. So far, the CD's do not follow our text at all. The subjects do not seem to line up. I have bought all of the 1L Sum & Substance CD's and so far, this set has been the worst. Maybe things will get better once I get further into property. The speaker seems to get into excruciating middle age detail, which does not seem to go along w/ my course.

4-0 out of 5 stars Clarifies the Essential Points
I almost didn't buy this set because the one review available at the time was so negative.I ended up buying it anyway because I really felt like I could use some help.I do not regret buying it at all! This CD really helped me sort out the essential messages I needed to learn from my Property course and the clear and methodical explanations of how to work out the various problems were extremely helpful.I found these explanations to be very good in writing 'the rules' into my outline.
4-0 out of 5 stars Just what it says it is.. summary of Property
Each property course varies, but this CD set was a good background to get you ramped up.He discusses subjects that may not be in your course, but that is to be expected.I saw another review on here panning these CDs.. Property is a hard subject.I didn't feel that he was long-winded.

1-0 out of 5 stars a masquerade of accountability
This book is sponsored by the American Council for Cultural Policy and is an excellent illustration that this organization is completely devoid of ethics. The various articles in the volume detail how the 'innocent' art and antiquities dealer and collector could and should be protected by U.S. law, all the while defaming the rights and plight of Native Americans, victims of Nazi appropriations, and countries suffering from massive art market-driven looting, to name only a few. Property laws figure heavily in these debates, but naturally the question of how stolen or looted art and antiquities become the 'property' of collectors and dealers is answered in such ways as to show the dealers and collectors as the true victims of both the thefts and the judicial systems. Although the book is claimed as a balanced discussion of the many complex issues surrounding the ownership of cultural property, it is clearly in the corner of the wealthy dealers and collectors (and their lawyers). ... 3-0 out of 5 stars .....but this one fits in your pocket
The Table of Contents of this book is nearly indentical to the "Code of Federal Regulations" issued by the Justice Department and provided free of charge to anyone who asks for it. But at roughly 6x9 inches, it doesn't fit in my pocket. So if the pocket thing is important to you, I highly recommend this book!
