5-0 out of 5 stars best law book ever
Some reviewer for a statistics journal called Phil Good's "Applying Statistics in the Courtroom" the best book ever written on statistics and the law.Given the fine books by Finkelstein, by Gastwirth and the deGroot, Feinberg and Kadane book, I think that was a gross overstatement.Phil does however get away from legalese and tries to present key issues.1-0 out of 5 stars Statistics for statisticians

5-0 out of 5 stars Solving a Potentially Big Problem
I've seen partnerships start up, full of promise and mutual love. I've seen very few last very long. And the breaking up of the partnership has usually been pretty messy. It's a lot like a divorce, where a pre-nuptial would have saved everybody a lot of pain.

5-0 out of 5 stars Covers both pros and cons of the blog revolution
Nine million U.S. bloggers currently operate with some 80K new blogs appearing daily - but despite this proliferation of blogs, many businesses are missing the boat on their money-making potentials. BLOG RULES: A BUISNESS GUIDE TO MANAGING POLICY, PUBLIC RELATIONS AND LEGAL ISSUES covers both pros and cons of the blog revolution, clarifying threats, revealing opportunities, and covering both external bloggers outside the company with internal bloggers. Among the issues covered: keeping company politics and organization private, protecting confidential company information, and keeping track of the contents of official company blogs.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is the one book about blogging you need now!
If you or your company is not blogging yet... you will be very soon. There are currently over 9 million bloggers in the U.S. It takes about twenty minutes to set up your first blog in fact it is so easy and quick that about 80,000 a day are doing it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Do You Know The Business Risk of Blogs?
"The choice is simple. Be paralyzed with fear over the concept of open communications channels. or put a blog policy in place and start using these new media in a strategic way". These are the words of IBM Corporate Affairs Director Brian Doyle in Nancy Flynn's Blog Rules: A Business Guide to Managing Policy, Public Relations, and Legal Issues (2006, AMACOM, 226 pages, ISBN 0814473555 ). A specialist in e-policy development, Flynn sets out to describe the ecosystem that blogs exist in, and to lay out common sense rules for companies to follow if they want to enter the blogosphere. For the most part she succeeds, but occasionally the book falls down with an over-conservative approach, acknowledgement of a recent Forbes article without painting the whole picture of that article, and in one case, what I see as a questionable legal interpretation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical, comprehensive guide for VC
The beauty of this book is that it is equally suitable for practicing professionals and students of the subject alike. I am impressed by the breadth and quality of presentation of just about every topic you should know if you are even half-serious about the VC space. For this reason alone, I recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book is more than worth it!!
It has been great and I have used some of the info to set up my single-member PLLC in Texas for my Real Estate Broker License that I recently reactivated.I also recommended the book to a real estate mentoring/investment group I am involved with. I was struggling with some of the concepts on an LLC until I read this book, it puts it all into perspective.I have corresponded with the author via email, he is very responsive. You will get real "go-by" documents that you can modify on WORD and actully put to use! A definte must if you are taking those first bold steps into your own business venture and want to protect your asssssets!

4-0 out of 5 stars Economics and the Law
Nice introduction, very clear. I think that this is the first steep in this field. After reading this book I highly recommend Cooter's book Law and Economics (3rd Edition).

5-0 out of 5 stars a very good introduction
The authors know what they are talking about. The book is a survey of the main strains of law and economics theories and approaches. It provides examples of each theory and that can be illuminating. However, more examples could have given a better sense to the differences across the several theories. The notes are well written and provide all you need for further reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful introduction to an important field
What is law & economics? It is the school of jurisprudence in which the tools of microeconomic analysis are used to study law. Those of us who practice economic analysis have a deceptively simple task. We translate some legal doctrine into economic terms. We then apply a few basic principles -- cost-benefit analysis, collective action theory, decision-making under uncertainty, risk aversion, and the like -- to the problem. Finally, we translate the result back into legal terms.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This book did what it set out to do
This got us started on the road to our new biz, but what it lacked was real help filling out the State forms.Nolo has another book that does just that (and I recommend it if you are really looking for help with forms). If you are still in the decision making process as to which type of business you want to have (e.g. partnership, LLC, corporation types) and what it takes to run an LLC, this is one to keep on your shelf. My favorite part of this book, Nolo's Quick LLC, is a great chart delineating the differences between different types of businesses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great LLC Premer
This book and the accompaning book entitled "Form your LLC" are the best books that I have read on the subject. I was able to put an LLC together, run it by my attorney, and using the info for filing, set up my own LLC.Especially good are the suggestions for finding an attorney and tax man that will help you stay out of trouble.I recommend these books to anyone looking to set up an LLC.The publisher, NOLO PRESS, does a good job on all sorts of legal self help books.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nolo's Quick LLC
Left a lot of questions unanswered.Gave reference to find more detail answers to questions about LLCs. Was hoping book would be an answer to all you ever wanted to know about LLC, but it wasn't.While it was helpful, I still had to get answers to some critical questions.I finally hired a lawyer that speciallizes in LLCs, Corporation, and Real Estate. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A fine and thorough book
Litwak provides about as much as a professional could share in this throrough outing. He also shares 'boilerplate' contracts for virtally all key players in a film production.Of course, direct experience is the best teacher, but EVERY neophyte in film or television must own this book, and its a handy reference for seasoned professionals and part-timers.5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best book on contracts for film/TV
Mark Litwak's book is by far the best book available on film and television contracts. His book is a no nonsense, thorough guide to the complex world of contractual law for an industry that has a history of taking advantage of those who don't take the time or spend the money to hire good legal representation. He is an advocate for the rights of artists, writers, actors, etc., and his contracts are a good basis for negotiations and deals in the TV/Film industry. Even if you hire your own attorney, this book will help you understand the structure of your deal and alert you to details and potential booby traps in all that fine print.D. Kuspa ... Read more
