A fine and thorough book
Litwak provides about as much as a professional could share in this throrough outing.He also shares 'boilerplate' contracts for virtally all key players in a film production.Of course, direct experience is the best teacher, but EVERY neophyte in film or television must own this book, and its a handy reference for seasoned professionals and part-timers. This is the best book on contracts for film/TV
Mark Litwak's book is by far the best book available on film and television contracts. His book is a no nonsense, thorough guide to the complex world of contractual law for an industry that has a history of taking advantage of those who don't take the time or spend the money to hire good legal representation. He is an advocate for the rights of artists, writers, actors, etc., and his contracts are a good basis for negotiations and deals in the TV/Film industry. A fine summary of contracts
The book is organized nicely and presents a nice overview for contracts. It's an ideal introduction to the area of contracts for the law student buta little bit cumbersome for review for those who have already takencontracts.Although the book has been cut down from earlier editions, itstill seems a bit long.Compared to other contracts casebooks, there is alot more coverage to non-traditional areas of contracts such as mediationand lawyer-client relations.

Never order an e-book version from Amazon
I tried about 8 times to download an e-book digital version of this book.I never got the book electronic file visible in Adobe Reader.Amazon indicated their supplier was doing "Maintenance" and I should keep trying a few more days!
Well Worth Purchasing
This book gets to the point.It covers many areas of claims.Easy to understand and great examples.It personally worked for me.Well worth the purchase.I'm keeping this book in my library for any, heaven provide, possible future needs.

Great for Car Accident Victims
I bought this book after two big-name lawyers refused to take my case and a third one offered to help me in a small claims court for a third of the final settlement amount. Since the max reward in a CA sall claims court is $5,000, after a third was taken out, I would hardly be able to pay off all my medical bills. But after reading this book and following its instructions on how to collect evidence and how to write a demand letter, I was able to settle my own claim for $4,750.00.

Great for Outlining and Briefing
I found this book immensely helpful for briefing for class.It doesn't take the place of reading the casebook material, but helps to clarify the big picture, particularly if you're having trouble understanding a case.I also used it as a topic guide when I started outlining -- the expanded table of contents works perfectly as a guide for your outline, especially when you're a 1L and you're not really sure exactly how to DO an outline.However, be careful if you use it to study -- I found a few inaccuracies in the material.Mostly they involved switching the Restatements around, and giving you the wrong number.Other than that, it's a good inexpensive book to help get you through the first year.

If you are running a small business, you will definitely need some sort of agreements to use with your clients or vendors. Excellent Resource - Esp. for Litigators Transitioning to Transactional Practice
I have been litigating on behalf of clients for the past 4 years. For the most part, I see the pitfalls, head aches and problems recognized long after the parties celebrated signing a new deal. Then a client came to me with a request-- he asked me to help negotiate his contract keeping an eye on the issues with litigation potential.(Quite a refreshing request I might add) Shifting gears, I had to brush up on current contract drafting practices and strategy.This book provided an excellent resource as to structure, potential interpretations, expectations, timing of the exchange of drafts.... well written, many areas covered quickly, not labored or too vague.I recommend this book along with Tina Stark's Negotiating Contract Boilerplate for practical contract drafting and review information.And if Charles Fox writes another book - I'd love a copy!Thanks! ... INSTEAD IT REFERS MOSTLY TO "THE DESIGNER," MEANING THE "DESIGN TEAM" WHICH AN ARCHITECT MAY LEAD. Simple and Direct Help
Tad Crawford has written a whole series of books out of his expertise in the law and creative arts, with a special focus on photography. I'd suggest looking at Tad's other books, too, since this one is more action-focused without extensive explanations of the whys and wherefores of it.

The moral foundations of contract law
In this excellent treatise, Harvard Law professor Charles Fried argues that the law of contract is founded on a few simple moral principles governing the practice of promise-making and promise-keeping. Dealing by turns with the formation of contracts, the importance of "consideration," the appropriateness of damages in case of breach, the problems of e.g. duress and unconscionability (and the special difficulties they pose for his account), and a variety of other topics that will be familiar to legal scholars and law students alike, Fried briefly, economically, and effectively rationalizes contract law on this unabashedly moral foundation. Professor Fried (former U.S. Solicitor General) is quite possibly the most erudite professor at Harvard Law School.His precision and exacting analysis shine through in his treatment of what some see as a dying academic field, the Law of Contracts.His perspective on the "classic" cases and extensive treatment of the major doctrinal elements of contract is absolutely refreshing and surprisingly controversial.Controversial because he dares to state that the law does and should contain an overtly moral component.

Good book from Amazon

A REALLY HELPFUL EASY READ
I had a small case and didn't want to turn a 1/3 of it over toa lawyer so I got this book. It explained step by step what to expect and do and I was able therefore to maximize value and minimize effort on my own claim.

Not for the ordinary people.
If you have been through law school, you'll be familiar with most of the terms used in this book. However, as someone said earlier, it will not teach you how to handle your personal injury insurance claim. Personally, the Nolo book is a little bit better. I have bought most of the books on the subject and for demand letters, forms, personal injury claim guide, do-it-yourself personal injury insurance claim, I had a better experience with SettlementCentral.Com (http://www.settlementcentral.com). Great Introduction --- Better Adjunct
Whitehead's "Introduction to Mathematics" is an illustrative, lucid, and concise discourse on the "three great mathematical ideas of the variable, of algebraic form, and of generalization."As other reviewers have indicated, the author presupposes that the reader have at least *some* experience with elementary algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.The book's greatest strength, however, lie in its ability to supplement the rigor of an undergraduate math education (or something akin) with the "why" of said education.In sum, both math- and non-math oriented folk will benefit from reading this book --- the non-mathematicians may be turned on to the elegance of the discipline whereas the mathematicians may be reminded (gasp!) of its beauty and relevance.

Intro to the PHILOSOPY of mathematics
This is a nice, little book:short, clear, and very well written.I confess, though, that I'm not sure who its best audience really is.If you know some math, and have thought and read AT ALL about the philosophy of math, you will not find much new in this book; still, since it will be quick and easy to read, you will probably find it worthwhile, for the occasional new insight or alternative way of looking at things.I found the section on series particularly worth reading, because series were not well covered in my own math education.I also found the comments on the measurement of time to be subtle and thought-provoking.

Broad introduction with a lack of depth
...so if that's what you want, then this book is for you.However, if you're using this for your first look at contract theory, you may well be disappointed (as I am).I don't credit Salanie for leaving out the technical details of the models, because he doesn't effectively convey the depth of the models in his largely intuitive treatment.I'm all for intuition and simplicity, but his book leaves me with more questions than answers after reading it.
well chosen topics, poorly written
The topics and papers discussed in this book are great, in that sense, it's a good book. However, the book is very poorly written. A good book (with some minor problems)
Salanie's book covers the standard areas of contract theory; adverse selection, moral hazard, signalling etc, along with chapters on thedynamics of complete contracts, incomplete contracts and a final chapter onthe empirical work on contracts. The material on dynamics and incompletecontracts is most welcome as many other books in this area do not cover it.Perhaps more space could have been given over to incomplete contracts giventhe increasing importance of them.
