Not the best I've had, not the worst
You'll most likely have this assigned, or you won't be reading this...so since you have no choice in the casebook your prof is using, here's my 2 cents:
One of the best casebooks my 1L year
First, you must consider that a) this is a law school casebook, it's not meant to be light reading, and b) my review might be somewhat tained by the fact that I've taken a Contracts course taught by Mel (an awesome lecturer), but: this is a more clearly organized and well edited casebook than most. Of all the textbooks I've ever had in law school and undergraduate classes, this book is likely the most frustating and the worst.Read more

I built my house using this!My builder was impressed!!
This book gives excellent strategic advice.It is not a tactical manual on how to build a house with your own hands, but rather informs a buyer on how to get the job done and which decisions are critical (e.g. site selection, architecture design selection, and builder selection).If you want to learn how to install drywall, then this is not the book for you.If you want to get a general idea of how it is done, but want to learn more about specifications from an owner's perspective, then this is the book for you.Some of the best advice in the book is really in the chapters on builders (how to select them, and how to work with them).This 'soft sceince' is the critical knowledge that I needed to build my own home that I would not have obtained otherwise.The sample specifications list using a HUD form proved to be invaluable to me.I didn't need an architect after that.

Good Introduction to the Building Concepts
I have a slight problem with the title of this book. Will it enable you to build your own home? Yes, if by build your own home you mean hiring carpenters, plumbers, electricians and the like. But no if you mean grabbing a hammer, pipe wrench and a roll of wire.
A quick education . . .
We bought a house to be built, but had no experience or background in construction.This book was a tremendous help in getting us up to speed and it allowed us to be conversant, and more importantly watchful, of the developer and contractor.I was able to intelligently review plans and specs after reading through this book.It did not make me an expert, but I am light years ahead of where I was before I picked it up.Essential for anyone planning to build or buying new construction that is yet to be built/completed.Highly recommended.

WOW.
I bought this book based on the reviews and before I even received it in the mail, I contemplated sending it back to Amazon because I already had the Legalines and the Emanuel supplements for the Farnsworth text (I am a supplement/hornbook fiend). I really didn't think I could use much more help than I already had. The Legalines is good if at times you have trouble trying to figure out what exactly is going on in the cases. It's a good fall-back--I would not completely rely on this book, however. The Emanuel is excellent;like all the others, it gives you definitions and explains concepts clearly. The practice questions at the end of each section are very helpful, to make sure you are on the right track and are able to apply the concepts (the most important thing!). However, as soon as I opened up this treatise, I was in love. If you are going to get any supplement for the Farnsworth text, this is THE ONE. He explains everything clearly and concisely--in plain words, so its easy to comprehend. If you don't understand the underlying concepts in the text even after your professor makes attempts at penetrating your brain, open up this book and the light will go on. If I could only keep one of my contracts supplements, this would be it, hands down. It is a little pricey, but go for it anyway. I'm totally keeping this for the bar exam.

A REALLY GREAT CONTRACTS HORNBOOK ..
This is a really great COntracts Hornbook - Farnsworth lays out headnotes/topic sentences in the margins which narrate the particular paragraph/sub-issue you are reading - which assists one in building their outline - IE use the headnotes as one-line topic summary. HOWEVER< I ratd this a "4" because Farnsworth has dropped several of the older classic contract cases for newer - more current cases - therefore - to be REALLY complete - I would get the older edition Farnsworth Contracts as well ( so you are covered with all the casebook cases ) - they can be had for $5.00 - $10.00 just about anywhere. I had mine listed on AMAZON, but have withdrawn it because of this little issue - I use them both - the differences are pretty minor as far as the theory. Actually, the earlier editions is a lighter read - the footnote info of the later edition - are paragraphs in the earlier editions..

"Contract's"??
If the author's misuse of the apostrophe in the title is any indication of how they wrote the rest of the book, I would stay away. ... Read more

A lot of help
This book provided me all the contracts I needed for a fast and a flourishing business. Time means money and I couldn't wait anymore while my secretary was making the contract. I bought this book and I got rid of this problem and now I just print the contracts and use them. Great!

I liked the fist paperback version so I decided to buy this one too, I use to travel a lot with my band and carrying large books after me was not something I desired. The cd-rom version can be accessed from anywhere there's a computer, this makes it incredibly versatile, I was able to print a contract at an airport Pc terminal if you can believe it ... Read more

Thoroughly Resourceful
If your passionate about learning the law of contracts or simply want to have a secondary legal resource for contracts at your finger-tips - this is the book.Very well-written, but very long, this book has been a valuable resource and guide for me.

Corbin in One Volume: A Good Overview
This is the seminal multi-volume work reduced to a single volume. As all law students know, Corbin is one of the great masters of contract law; his multi-volumn work is often quoted by courts. This single volume is anexcellent overview of the concepts embodied in his expanded treatise.Practicioners beware, the single volume omits entire sections of themulti-volume work, and leaves out virtually all of the case citations andfootnotes so important for writing legal documents. Best Information
This book describes in detail information I have never gotten from my insurance agent. It gives you a detailed insight into the world of workers' compensation and has been very useful in helping me to make sure that what we do as a company is under the right classification. It would have been difficult to argue our case without the knowledge I obtained from this book. Worth every penny!

Very good introduction to WC
I ordered this book to get an overview of the Workers Compensation Insurance Industry. This book is very good to get a glimpse of the WC Industry and provides the most important data. I recommend this book for everyone who wants to get basic information on the Industry.

Nightmares
This book is an excellent review of the current system of workers compensation coverages.It is dead-on accurate in its description of the potholes one can encounter - NCCI ratings, premium audits and others.I thought Mr. Priz was generous in his kindness to auditors and underwriters, who are the source of most of the problems and also the solution to most of the problems.
