Better than most
The Redlich hornbook is a lot shorter and easier to read, but unfortunately is last updated in 1999.Until it is current, these are the best.

Disappointed
Normally, I recommend Examples & Explanation series over any of the other commerical outlines out there. I was very disappointed with both Constitutional Law books however. The examples are unhelpful, especially when a lot of the answers depend on material you won't learn for several chapters! Some of the text is useful but much of it is the authors biased view of what cases mean or should mean. This isn't helpful if you are not taking the class from them! A Must Buy for Constitutional Law Students
This book is the best study guide for Constitutional Law that I have read. It is written in narrative form, as opposed to outline form.Theexplanations of cases are clear and concise and reflect the nuances of thelenthy cases in this area where single-paragraph statements in outlinescannot.More importantly, the authors are well regarded constitutional lawprofessors whose evaluations of the cases can be trusted to be accurate aswell as even-handed. ... It's OK, but lacks detail
It is very broad in scope, but in my opinion it lacks depth. Specifically, there have been several times where I found it did not have goood detailed design info, especially related to practical example diagrams.

So much information, I don't know where to start.
I think this is an excellent book for, first, students and neophytes to learn some standard detailing and systems, and second, novice construction administrators and contractors needing help with some standard practices they might not have seen or know the whole ins and outs of.I will admit that it is not at a beginner level, and you do need some familiarity with construction to understand all of its articles, but the list of contributing editors is a who's who of construction standards, most of them being some sort of expert, whether they serve on buiding code commitees or are esteemed lecturers and each with multiple decades of experience. Good but could be better
Author has huge experience in construction industry, but I expected something like a guideline - simple in structure, focused on essence. Topics are covered with plenty of words, could be simpler. However generally it is worth having this book.

Great resource for start ups
I work for an agency that provides business counseling for small local businesses.I frequently get calls from people in the trades who are starting their own contracting business after years of working on a crew.Just as frequently I get calls from their spouses who are taking on the bookkeeping aspect of the business.This is one of the resources I recommend especially if they haven't had much experience estimating, job costing, or dealing with homeowners.I've gotten lots of positive feedback from contractors and their partners. Several clients bought their own copy.The chapter on contracts has examples that are useful to other types of businesses as well. This book is well organized, has good examples, and it's written in plain English.

Solid Deal
Very readable book that made a great complement for some other books i bought. For the price this is a deal all the way.Its a fairly broad overview but touches many important areas. I didnt learn much i didnt already know but a new to the field contractor would benifit greatly. Not the most recent version
Its a fine book but what I found out after I recieved it is that its keyed to the First Edition not the most recent edition. So its missing a few cases.

Not helpful really.
This is the worse of the High Court Case Summaries. I loved the one for Employment Law, but this one is filled with anecdotes about the author's personal opinion on matters such as the federal government's lack of concern for thift, and other broad, uninformed generalizations a law student could do without. Not to mention at least one WRONG holding in the PG & E case. West should recall this book, and hire someone else to do the next one.

Great Supplement, So much better than legalines
The High Court Case Summaries are great commercial brief books, but have much better features than legalines.They provide a more concise brief and usually keep them to one page instead of the legalines who bunch all of their material together.The also have the quick facts and memory image as well as a black letter law and definitions section.
