Not a basic wiring guide
This is THE guide book for electricians and engineers. Almost 700 pages of useful information. The layout, tables, and ease of understanding have all improved over past editions. But this is not a basic wiring guide and it will only frustrate those without some electrical background. If you need to meet code - you need this book.

Pricey but essential
Revised, expanded, and essential to anyone in the building industry because these codes apply across the board, including virtually all states in the US.The IBC has replaced state and other building codes.This volume provides information in the English measuring system. I prefer the looseleaf edition to the bound volume because it folds completely open and you can leaf through the pages more easily, as you are constantly being referred from one section to another.Of course you will want to update your other international code books as well. ... Comprehensive, Useable, and Readable
The book was a long read and made some challenging conclusions but provided me with specific, valuable knowledge in serious construction scheduling topics such as extension of time claims and time impact analysis.The examples included are many as are the case studies.The book opened my mind as to the significant capability the construction schedule can have on making or breaking the profitablility of a compressed project or one that is prone to delays.The book is a must read for consultants on the matter but also important to senior project controls staff. ... An overview ith the details
This book breaks it all down. Time management, budgeting, deaking with staff and technical issues. For those in the field already, its a refresher and a confirmation of what you're doing. For those new to the field, it can serve as an operations manual for guidance. Appendix B that describes the job description is invaluable.

Makes me feel smarter!
I am desk jockey who does electrical design work. I have little in-the-field electrical experience. I use the NEC codes frequently to make sure what I design is code-compliant. I have a copy of the standard 1999 NEC book and found many parts of it difficult to interpret. This new "handbook" version has answered all of the questions and uncertainties I had about the code.It has an illustration and explanation for just about every question I could think of. Even when I don't need a certain thing, I have found myself leafing through the book just to learn more. Amazing.

This is an example book.
If you have some basic knowledge of LRFD design and connection. This would be an OK book. It contains so many example in many load cases and connection type. All of them are hot rolled steel or high force connection. In example it dose not tell how to retrive this equation, reference to variables,and how to use this equation.. you only have to guess. If you guess right, then it can be applicable to real construction.

For engineers looking to make connections...
Tamboli's connection handbook complements the AISC Connections Manual beautifully. In a clear, easy-to-follow way, it addresses all of the major procedures for connecting structural elements and the philosophy behind them. The handbook uses thoughtful examples and good photos to explain how connections work and are built. The tips it gives, especially for connections to composite members and space trusses, are particularly helpful in practical design. I have never seen a more complete, quality connections manual, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their knowledge of the latest connection techniques.
