Business and Its Environment (5th Edition)
This book is an easy read. It has tons of useful information. I would recommend this book.

New Edition is Better
There is a new edition (the fifth) for this book, and it is better than the edition shown here.While avoiding a polemical view, Baron illustrates business ethical priciples with very poignant examples and stories.The case studies are very up to date and fun to read.More than that, though, the case studies can form a basis for classroom debate and discussion which not only brings the material to life but also promotes critical thinking and articulation among students.
The book for dilettante readers
The author provided some good examples demonstrating a picture of business and its environment. People who have exposed to Industrial Organization (or at least some levels of application of game theory) will get bored of all arguments without mentioning anything about its quantitative aspect. ... Worst E&E Book Out There
This is easily the worst book in the E&E series.

Not bad, but the worst of the series
I've read 11 or so of the Examples and Explanations books while in Law School.For the most part, the series is great.The material is broken down into sections that make sense and the important points are made and remade with the examples.

Worth the money
This set me straight on a few things while setting up my business. It is well written and easy to understand. I would recommend this to any 1st time business owner starting out.

Full of the information you expect based upon the title of the book. The information is detailed so you have the guidance you sought.
Just what the doctor ordered!
Nolo's Legal Guide to Starting and Running a Small Business was exactly what I needed to help start my company off on the right foot. I don't have a very strong legal backround and would have been way over my head if I'd tried to forge ahead totally alone but at the same time I didn't want to spend a fortune consulting a lawyer. If you're in a similar situation then Nolo's Legal Guide is the perfect solution. It is well written, well organized, thorough, and very easy to use. It's a great general start-up kit that would be helpful to any fledgling business that I can think of. If I had had to call a lawyer to answer every legal question that arose in the first couple of months (a huge number) then my company may easily have never gotten off the ground. I was so pleased with this product that I have since purchased two more Nolo books (Tax Savvy for Small Business and The Employer's Legal Handbook) that are more directed at business owners who have gotten through the initial start-up phase. Great intro to law text
As an MBA student, this text was a great introduction to business law.The actual cases proved to be quite interesting and illustrative of the topics discussed throughout the text.You must go through the text before reading the cases or you may be confused, but the terms are so well laid out that once familiar with them, the cases are quite easy to understand and you are able to brief them yourself!Will serve as an excellent reference and I have decided to keep it in my library.

Great Introductory Business Law Text!
Unlike the previous post, I found this book to be extremely helpful as a business student. If one is looking for a strictly "law" book this is obviously not the correct choice. For business professionals and students, however, it is an excellent introduction to the field of business law. The cases are in fact quite helpful and are not too long as stated in the previous post. The "briefs" provide a good insight into the heart of the issue at hand and are quite useful. They are much better than fabricated examples, as they are up to date, and add a 'reality' element to the text.

Excellent text for the Instructor; for the Student
This is an excellent text at various levels of interest, desire, talent and time. The text is arranged that given the time, the Instructor can dig deeper and deeper into thorny topics. Additionally, curious students can rely on numerous web sources for enhanced views and greater depth.
Not Only For Students
I am using this textbook in several of my classes, and let me just say- it has everything I could have hoped for. The chapters are laid out well, many cases are cited, and the student is given actual cases to figure out, with the citations given at the end so he can find the actual outcome. I've found this to be among the best textbooks. It is so good, in fact that I've reccomended it to several of my friends who are going into business for themselves. This covers nearly everything they'll need to know regarding contracts, secured transactions, warranties, etc.Read more
