Old it might be but still surprisingly accurate
I have written software based on Altman's original work and it still comes up with surprising�y accurate results however there are still many issues about how modern companies are structured and the shift to a services based economy where people are one of the main assets of many corporations.

Recycled and Outdated
Reading this guy's work is a real testimony to the staying power generated by doing something first.His 1967 paper on bankruptcy was the first to estimate a multivariate default prediction model.THAT'S 35 YEARS AGO.Things like computers and more data make both his estimation algorithm and parameter estimates relics of little significance, and his inability to recognize this is symptomatic of a more cluelessness exhibited in his discussion of other matters (he doesn't simply reference the old model; it's now irrelevant structure is examined and built upon throughout the book).Read more

Useful Compact Version of Bankruptcy Changes
This is a very affordable conveniently-sized version of the bankruptcy code and rules changes brought about by BAPCA, allowing you to see the changes that were made. The index could be a bit more thorough, but overall it is extremely portable and handy.

Good Book
I purchased this book and Surviving Financial Disasters by Tiffany R. Love (which came with a CD ROM with BK Forms and sample court motions). Both books are outstanding.

To file or not to file?
After keeping the wolves at bay for several years, it was time to make some serious financial decisions. In researching my options, this book was, by far, the most useful. Help Take the Fear out of Filing for Bankruptcy
This book is great whether you are thinking about filing for bankruptcy or not. It lays out the bankruptcy story pretty well and it is scary. The part I like the most was the end of the book where they tell you how to clean up your credit and credit reports, stay out of financial trouble, plan around bankruptcy, avoid getting taken and all of that. Exciting at times, dry at others
Unfortunately, I found it more dry then exciting.It helps to have a working knowledge of bankruptcy cases, but with this case so immense, the cast of characters grew so large and confusing I had to take notes to keep them straight.Probably the best resource out there that deals with the fallout of the Dalkon Shield case, but be forewarned, I emitted a cheer when I was finally through this.

The book is concerned with a number of tortious claims for punitivedamages brought against the A H Robins Company for its reckless marketingof a contraceptive device called the Dalkon Shield.
