YAWNNNNNNNNNNNN
This book was interesting but BORING!!! I do not like books that hash out court trials and in particular when it revolves around money.That was 85% of this book. How many times can you go over what was done with this money or those funds. Penny pinching in print. I'm not interested in financial reports. I was interested in the world's richest Indian. I got very little of him, but I suppose there wasn't much to say about him.They gave his wife a really bad time, but like witnesses for the defense said, she gave him a better life than he had when she found him and helped him use his money to live a life someone with that much money should.Who was hurt by it?Why did everyone care so much?They wanted their share which they didn't deserve. It was really something how people acted. No different than today, 2006!But when EVERY page had some dollar amount on it-how can you keep track of what's being discussed? How many times can they doubt or affirm the sanity of Jackson Barnett??? The poor old guy lived to 90, so I guess you couldsay that 'living well is the best revenge'.

Both Scholarly and Enjoyable
With some writers, an abunce of detail is mind-numbing, as in the "begat" passages of the Old Testament.In contrast, Tanis Thorne uses a myriad of details as would a pointillistic painter to create a vivid and poignant biography of Afro-Muskogee Jackson Barnett, "The Richest Indian in the World".Read more

Wonderful
I met the author at one of our District meetings--he was giving teaching one of the workshops. It's there that I purchased this book. I see that it's unavailable now so I wish I had purchased more (for the rest of my EBoard). This book was very informative and easy to read.

Not Just for Union Members
I'm the Director of HR for a large national employer. This book was originally given to me by a local union. I enjoyed it so much I purchased several copies for our management team. It explains union rights in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. Though I didn't always agree with the use of tactics explained in the book, it certainly is helpful to understand the possibilities that may be employed by the union. I recommend it for anyone interested in labor relations, even those who are on the management side of the table. ... Read more

Very good, but not quite enough detail
Hostage situations, as opposed to active shooter scenarios, typically allow time for negotiation, intervention, hostage escape, or other responses on the part of the captive(s) and law enforcement personnel. The information in this book is very comprehensive in breadth, hitting most aspects of these situations, but not particularly detailed in describing the attributes thereof. There is good coverage of the roles and responsibilities of first responders and police specialists who may become involved.
Boils out the fat and gives you what you need!
This book provides great techniques and ideas for negotiators.I like the format whereby one can easily copy the hot pages and tip sheets.Easily used in the field!The CD is a plus.I also like the legal and liability section. ... Read more

GREAT BOOK - EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE
This is by far the best book on ICSID I've read....it covers in detail everything you need to know about ICSID arbitration. It contains a summary of UNCTAD' course on Dispute Settlement.

No help to a lawyer
This book is only useful to either a 1L or someone thinking of going to law school.It contains no information that anyone who has spent any time at all practicing law does not already know.

an enlightening read
The Vault Guide to Litigation Careers is the kind of book I wish I had had when I was deciding what to do with my law degree. The author is quite thorough and writes clearly and concisely. I particularly enjoyed the section on law school, as these are common sense tips that I could have used. GREAT READING!
Starting from the decision to go to law school and moving all the way into your litigation career, this book is thorough, enjoyable and full of real-world advice. This isn't the recycled promotional career advice you get from firms, but the real story. I'm a law student, and I generally like Vault guides, but this is my favorite because the writing is so good. It explains the varieties of litigation as well as the realities of being a litigation associate in a firm. And, unlike most law books, it also discusses public interest and government work.
