This Book is a Tort Itself
This is biased, pro-plaintiff, and hard to follow. It is a self-justifying, defender of the out of control legal profession. Only 60 pages are devoted to the defense. There is nary a word, beyond brief dismissal, of the devastation wrought upon our besieged Nation by the profession. There is nary a word about changing the unconscionable 80% error rate in tort litigation. There is nary a word about the wackiness that passes for judicial decision making, mind reading, fortune telling, etc. A fine hornbook
This excellent volume was one of my own study aids during my first year of law school and it's now a valued part of my burgeoning law library. Excellent tort book
An excellent book about tort law. The author revises every issues and explains clearly the subject. Dobbs quotes abundant cases and bibliography too. The content is : Part I. Introducing Tort Law;Part II: Physical interference with person or property; Part III, Operating and altering the tort system in personal injury cases. Excellent resource, but guidance was helpful
Teachers and the Law (6th Edition) was the primary text used for my National-Louis University (Wheeling, IL) School Law course. Although the text implies that only information regarding teachers will be discussed, Fischer actually covers legal issues that deal with many levels of educational law including student cases, administrator cases, and even cases that don't involve teachers at all, but loosely relate to educational law in general.
Teachers and the Law
I received the book in good shape.The cover looked next to new and there were very little marks or highlights in the text.

A Must Read for Teachers
Case law, unless done perhaps by the likes of John Grissam, is not page turning material.However, the authors have done an incredible job of putting very pressing and often complex areas into an accessible and engaging book.Written in an easy to use question and answer format, the updated book touches on education legal issues ranging from free speech, to students with disabilities, to internet issues.While of great use for educator (or educators to be), the book could also easily be adapted for classroom use, either as a debate or research starter.Worth every penny of its price. ... You must own this book
If you are interested in steroids at all, especially if you use steroids you should buy this book. It is money well spent.

These flash cards are the best way to drill the info into your brain. And the older versions still work too. Keep them around for any and all exams, essay, quizzes.

Worst E&E Book Out There
This is easily the worst book in the E&E series.

Not bad, but the worst of the series
I've read 11 or so of the Examples and Explanations books while in Law School.For the most part, the series is great.The material is broken down into sections that make sense and the important points are made and remade with the examples.

good reference
This is a great book to own if you have or are thinking of starting an LLC. I've used many of the forms. The layout of the book is well-organized. Forms are easy to find on the CD. The tips in the book are very useful. I reference this book often. Highly recommended.

Good Resource Guide
This book provided me with the essential information an LLC owner needs to avoid trouble with the IRS and the courts. This book contains a lot of practicle information, useful forms and many real life examples. It covers meeting minutes preparation, record keeping and the updated Federal 2003 Tax Act. This is a must book for any LLC owner!

Can't imagine many people need this book.
Generally I have to say I was a little disappointed with this book. To be fair it lives up to its claims that it will basically help you run LLC meetings and provides forms for most basic LLC functions EXCEPT creating one.It provides no business advice and no tax advice to help with serious beginning operation issues. I was hoping for a book that would offer advice and successful strategies for managing money in the LLC and discuss tax strategies and so on. Advice, that would help me operate an LLC with the legal documents to back up the advice. That is not what this book contains.Read more

A classic text badly in need of editing.
First & second editions of this text have long been considered standards in the land surveying profession, but I was disappointed with this (the 3rd) edition.The material is all there, but badly in need of a careful editor.Errors in punctuation and typography were frequent enough to be a real distraction.I found myself pencilling corrections in the margins as I read! For instance, long quotations, not set with a change of fonts, or even quotation marks, made for difficult interpretation.I had the distinct impression that certain chapters were revised in a hurry, and that perhaps each author thought the other was checking the work. In at least one chapter, it appeared that two different authors took a stab at addressing a single subject and both were included in the book although in DRAFT form!The authors also need to update discussions of measurement methodologies to include electronic total stations, data collectors and GPS.Though I'm not a real big adv! ocate of gender-neutral writing, the next edition should totally expunge the term "title men", which must appear 15 times.Read more

You would be a dummie to buy this book.
Open this book and you will see that it is formatted and reads like every other textbook you have read since college.The writing makes no attempt to reduce the complexities of the subject.It simply reiterates all the language you never understood in the first place.As the author of "Everything A Baby Boomer Should Know -- An Insider's Guide to Estate Planning," I suggest you compare my book which honestly and easily explains the tools of the probate system, to this book which is impossible to understand if you have no background on the subject.

Its okay but I wanted more-specific information
This book gives you general information about Estate Planning but It left me wanting more. I was surprise that it didnt mention anything about AB trust. I wish it would have given the upside and donwnside to each options of wills or trust.
They weren't kidding when they said "for dummies"
I didn't find this book helpful at all.It just barely skims the surface, and usually concludes with "make sure you talk to your accountant/attorney/estate planner."If I intended to talk to all those folks, I wouldn't waste my time reading this book in the first place.Most of what this book covers could be learned by snooping around the web - and in many cases you can learn more that way.It defines the terminology, but even that is often inadequate. I suggest you check this book out from the local library, and then if you find it to be a useful resource go ahead and buy it.I wish I had done that - I don't feel this book has enough information to really qualify as a reference book. ... A fundraising book for the small nonprofit, or one that is not well organized!
This is a great book for the small nonprofit that does not know much about fundraising. If it were for a more established nonprofit, then it would not have referred to major gifts as those starting at $500. I'm used to major gifts starting at $10,000 and going up well into the 6 figures.
Clear and Simple Explanations of What Works
There are a tremendous number of non-profits around. There are also a tremendous number of funding organizations. Your job as the fundraising manager (whatever your exact job title may be) is to put your particular non-profit together with one or more funding organizations to raise the money you need.

An easy read, but a bit out of date
I had to read this for a class and found it easy to read, but really out of date.Although revised in December of 2001, there is so much it left out in terms of changes in technology and 911 (and yes, these things do apply to Economics!) that I wonder how thoroughly it was updated. Best book on employment law out there!

Contracts in a Nutshell
Thank you so much for a nutshell version of contracts!It's all beginning to make sense now!I believe this book was key in helping me to pass this, not so much fun, class!

This Book Saved My Life!!!
Some time around mid-semester, I was hopelessly lost and confused in my contracts last. In my despair, I bought this book. It opened up my eyes and lifted the fog of contracts for me. My final grade in the class was much better than I hoped for and I have to partly thank this book for that. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that it is useful for bare bones knowledge of contracts, and shouldn't be used to replace attending class and taking good notes.

A Must Read!
This book is as simple as it gets. Contract law is one of the more complex subjects in law school. Any material that adds complexity to an already challenging subject has little value especially to 1L's and even bar candidates. Understanding the basics of the subject is crucial. That is why this book stands out from the rest. I have read the casebook, a hornbook in this jurisdiction as well as various textbooks in a foreign jurisdiction. "Contracts in a Nutshell" gives the simplest explanation of the law by far. It is a must read indeed! ... Read more

Transformative Mediation = Transcendental Meditation?
If only the world would/could operate under a theory like this!

This book helped me clarify just what I'm doing as a mediator. The authors show that one's worldview necessarily affects how one mediates. Unawareness of one's assumptions creates the potential to do great harm as a mediator. Our assumption that it's our job to make a settlement happen requires us to behave in a way that is neither neutral nor helpful to the parties.It's too easy to use our litigation tools (such as evaluation, analysis, and persuasion) against both parties in order to further our own agendas. By gaining clarity about what our agenda is, and about what's beyond our jurisdiction, we reduce the harm we do to the parties; and we create more opportunity for the parties to take greater responsibility. The approach described in this book supports parties as they tend to grow from weakness to strength and from selfishness to compassion. I'm grateful to the authors.
