If written well, this would've been 50 pages!
Here is a book that focuses on government, but not in the way most do. The fad today is books on 'banishing beurocracy' with trendy management techniques and buzzwords and this book, to its credit, realizes those books for what they are; bunk! Simply Superb!! Buy Two!
This book is simply superb and makes an essential addition to any bookshelf. You wanted to know more about government, here it is. Elegantly presented in an easily digestible format. Buy one for yourself and another for a friend or loved one, you won't be disappointed.

This is a good general overview of Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM) theory and techniques as applied to public sector and non-profit organizations.Although it is essentially a textbook aimed at graduate-level students in Public Policy or Public Administration, Pynes' survey approach, pointing the reader to empirical studies and other more in-depth sources, should serve as both a refresher and a source of new ideas, even to long-term practitioners in the field.The book is a series of chapters grouped around three basic themes:changing context, methods and challenges. Pynes presents an overview of the multiple roles of human resource managers in the strategic planning process.
