Towards a European Civil Code
On its first appearance in 1994, Towards a European Civil Code ushered in the new field of European private law. After its publication a great number of major events took place. To mention only a few: both the UNIDROIT and the Lando Commission published their Principles; Markesinis published a book on the gradual convergence of common law and civil law in Europe, K�tz and Von Bar published the first book on European Contract Law, and European Tort Law, respectively; the Trento Project on The Common Core of Private Law in Europe was commenced by Mattei and Bussani; and an international conference was held in The Hague under the very title Towards a European Civil Code . These events, and indeed many others, convinced us that the idea of a commonly held civil code for Europe is not as bold as it might have seemed when we started preparations for the first edition of this book in 1991. European private law has become an established field of research in which many eminent scholars from all over Europe are involved. Courses on European private law are taught at several European universities. All these events - and the commercial success of the first edition - call for this second edition, which differs from the first in several respects. First, we have added several new subjects, which have increased the number of chapters from 23 to 36. Secondly, we no longer asked the contributors to discuss the feasibility of a European civil code - except for a few chapters which deal with completely new topics - but instead to directly address the possible content of common rules. Just Okay
This book is very comprehensive, but it is written in a strange folksy text that I found to be less than helpful.Overall the templates and such are nice, but it would have been very helpful if the book came with the various templates in electronic form.

Theadvantage of Kuwatch's work for experts and advocates who appear in theEnglish (and Scottish) courts is that he deals with issues that are onlyjust coming before the Courts across the pond, such as Drug RecognitionExperts and field Sobriety tests. Don'ttake civ pro without it!!!
I spent almost an entire semester feeling that I wasn't completely grasping civ pro. Two weeks before finals I bought this audiotape supplement. I wound up with an A- in the class. Buy the tapes they're more than worth it.

This tape is very good, it comes with a little booklet full of hypotheticals.Since Civil procedure is a dry subject its nice to have somebody explain it on tape, while you don't have to read it.Outline this tape and buy also The Glannon Guide to Civil Procedure, Learning Civil Procedure Through Multiple-Choice Questions and Analysis, also by Glannon.Glannon actually makes Civpro interesting.

Brilliant!
I am a college student studying to be a medical assistant.I had to write an essay on a specific medical lawsuit for my class "Medical Law and Ethics."I have not read a nonfiction book in years, but once I started reading this book I could not put it down.It is so stimulating, exciting, and brilliant.Mr. Werth had little to work with since there was no court room drama.He did a spectacular job with the resources he had.He is indeed an intelligent writer.I wish him well.

Informative, easy to read.
Dog law is another outstanding legal book by Nolo press. I got the book because I was having problems with my neighbor's five barking dogs. I wanted to be informed of my rights before I confronted my neighbor. Although I had no luck coming to a compromise with my neighbor regarding the dogs (he is a crazy, paranoid, drug-addicted redneck), it was empowering to know my rights. The only small complaint was that it did not include state laws, but that may be beyond the scope of this book.

Easy to read, easy to understand with basic information that for the most part is applicable across the nation.Good set of resources and guides for problems with neighbors, animal control and vets. Every dog owner and neighbor should read this
If you are thinking about buying a dog (it explains puppy mills, contracts to consider when you buy a dog and licensing laws); you already have a dog (laws you might want to consider even if you're sure your dog is always well-behaved and how to get dog insurance); you want to provide for your dog after your death (what may or may not work in your will); you hate your neighbor's dog's barking (how to talk to your neighbor or seek mediation, or your liability if you are cruel or provoke the dog) or if you suspect your neighbor's dog is mistreated or are in any other way concerned about dogs: YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK.
