2-0 out of 5 stars Okay but lacking.
This book had a lot of helpful facts about LLCs, but no guidance really in forming one, or whether you should form an LLC or corporation. The state-by-state appendix of laws and contact information hadn't been updated since 1997. The sample operating agreement was not on the disk, so you couldn't tailor it and use it for your company.

3-0 out of 5 stars Could be better
The book was decent, although a bit generic - no particular insights provided. The discussion of the terms of an LLC Operating Agreement could be a lot more detailed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A highly recommended resource for the novice entrepreneur
Now in a completely updated third edition, How To Form And Operate A Limited Liability Company: A Do-It-Yourself Guide by Gregory C. Damman is a straightforward, "user friendly" instructional guide for taking full advantage of the benefits of a limited liability company (LLC), which protects company partners from personal responsibility for the company's debts and obligations. Introductory basics are accessibly presented concerning what types of companies can become an LLC; the advantages and disadvantages of forming an LLC; converting a business into an LLC; tax considerations, and much, much more are all knowledgeably presented in a meticulous and highly accessible manner. An accompanying CD-ROM of forms and samples enhances this highly recommended basic resource for the novice entrepreneur. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I finished with more questions than answers.
I am on an endless quest, it seems; to find a book on the administrative state that is informative while being at least mildly enthusiastic about its subject. This book starts out enthusiastic. This book certainly started with enthusiasm. The first chapter, in fact, is devoted to convincing us why the administrative state is a superb American invention (a view I do not always share!) Chapter 5, which is devoted to public participation in the Admin. state also bubbles with giddiness.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars title abstracting in all 120 kentucky counties
as a company who searches titles in all 120 kentucky counties, everyday, we believe this book is useful in showing the various basic terms in real estate and the nesessary use of title insurance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Used this text in my Masters of Science in Real Estate
The book is useful if you have no experience with real estate law.It presents real estate legal concepts in a logical manner breaking topics up into such things as easements, etc. However, much of the information is covered in the real estate law class if you have taken the California Salesperson exam.

5-0 out of 5 stars Complete, concise and understandable
I am not a law student, but I want to feel secure in the legal aspects of my activities as a real estate investor. This book provides exactly that. It is easy to understand and very well organized. It may be missing a fewexamples for some complex points, but in general is a great book foranybody who want to really know the ins and outs of real estate law. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars pretty good set of journal articles
There are many dimensions to the transport of people across international borders. Global Human Smuggling provide a historical and contemporary look at the topic. They start with the traffic of sex slaves in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They focus on topics such as asylum seekers, ill-legal immigration to America from Mexico and Asia. The book also deals with the topics of organized crime. Russian, Chinese and Mexican organized crime units have played parts in transporting humans from one country to anotuehr. The book also deals with the political impact of smuggling people across borders. Countries such as Japan and the United States have been cracking down the use of illegal aliens and both countries have seen xenophobia saying that foreigners are responsible for crime and lowering native wages.

5-0 out of 5 stars First thoughtful overview of human smuggling
The topic of human smuggling makes most people think of yet another global mafia business tricking people into slavery. In contrast, this book provides an excellent overview of the complexity and diversity of migrants and refugees trying to get across borders simply to find jobs or freedom. Especially interesting are the historical chapters that place this social issue into perspective and draw parallels with previous "white slavery scares." The book also presents diverse types of research in different countries to provide a mosaic rather than a grand theory of human smuggling. Hopefully more similarly thoughtful work on this topic will follow. Of course, no book on a topic like this can be up to date, so some of the things the authors discuss will have to be reevaluated after 9/11. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, but unbelievably out of date.
This book simplifies corporations law and gives concrete examples and good summaries.4-0 out of 5 stars A Valuable Study Guide
I cannot imagine getting through my exam study for corporations without this guide. It gives a very clear explanation of the topics that were covered in class. It is very helpful to people only taking corporations because of the bar exam rather than a specific interest in practicing in this area. One caveat - unlike some other outlines, this text does not specifically brief any cases, so it is still essential to keep up with the text and attend class.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must own for law students taking a corporations law class!
This gouge explains corporation formation in a format that is easy to understand. This is especially helpful to law students who have never had a business course prior to law school.I found the author's coverage ofthe duties of coporate officers and those of shareholders to bestraightforward and easy to understand.Additionally, the coverage ofcurrent case law in the area of the Business Judgment Rule, along with examtips and "test your knowledge" questions were extremely helpful.(class taken in 1998) ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Useful book
This book was somewhat useful, but I found it to be not as helpful as a Gilberts Law Summary. The "Nutshell" was, in some places, just as confusing and convoluted as the case book. But it was very helpful in assisting me to understand some of the basic concepts.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Only Ad Law Book You'll Ever Need
The Administrative Law Nutshell was instrumental to my success in my administrative law class.Gellhorn and Levin (mostly Levin) provide a concise and careful analysis of the often-feared administrative law procedures. The authors provide step-by-step examples and supporting material to help the reader better understand everything from the general principles of administrative law to the dreaded state and local agency procedures. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best I've had, not the worst
You'll most likely have this assigned, or you won't be reading this...so since you have no choice in the casebook your prof is using, here's my 2 cents:
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best casebooks my 1L year
First, you must consider that a) this is a law school casebook, it's not meant to be light reading, and b) my review might be somewhat tained by the fact that I've taken a Contracts course taught by Mel (an awesome lecturer), but: this is a more clearly organized and well edited casebook than most.1-0 out of 5 stars Poor organization and explanations
Of all the textbooks I've ever had in law school and undergraduate classes, this book is likely the most frustating and the worst.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of Economics of regulation and antitrust
This work provides an excellent overview of the field of regulation from an economic point of view. The primary focus is economic rather than institutional -- as a result it is more appropriate for economists than forlegal scholars.Although the book does not require extensive training ineconomics, it does assume some formal knowledge of basic economic concepts. Since its focus is economic, little time is spent discussing legal casessurrounding many of the regulations compared with, for example, Law,Business, and Society, by McAdams, et. al. ... Read more
