2-0 out of 5 stars popular ... but why?
After completing my first year of law school, I really wonder why so many professors use this textbook.More than half the people I spoke with in my class thought the casebook's usability was poor or worse.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad...
This is probably one of the easier to understand case books I have read.It is incredibly dull, but it covers all the concepts well and includes some useful graphics (as well as some pointless ones). It's certainly worth its cost.

2-0 out of 5 stars Kinda Lousy
This is easily the WORST casebook I have ever owned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference guide
I am a manager for a Federal Govt Agency.I found this book informational and easy to understand.Immigration law is a complex subject. The book is easy to read and addresses many important aspects related to this subject. The sections related to inadmissability, removal are well written and easy to understand. The chapters related to the history of various classes of immigrants was intersting as well.I would recommend the book for persons who want to expand their knowledge of this topic.

4-0 out of 5 stars The book provides a good academic discussion
This book makes no pretensions to be the ultimate compendium for the practitioners in the immigration field. As the author points out in the preface, this book is meant to give you a brief overview of the subject. And that it did!It provides succint and stimulating discussions in many pertinent topics. Most importantly, the flow of the discussions is not bogged down by chaotic juxtaposition of law and facts that is usually usually associated with works written by the practitioners. In short, this book presents you with the picture of the forest rather than the individual shots of trees.I highly recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gives a general overview, not for beginner, not for pro.
I work for a law firm and am planning on going to a law school. I got into the immigration field by pure accident but I had a great deal of research done through working on actual cases. This book gives a very good general overview of the immigration law and procedure, but it does not list the details of "HOW?" only some of "WHY?".Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars everything is in there, but take it with a grain of salt.
If I had to suggest the purchase of this book I would recommend it. There is almost everything in the book about US antitrust. But some warnings are necessary. It's not for students. It's not for lawyers. Maybe scholars and judges can be interested. The author highlights what is not coherent in the body of untistrust legislation. He provides some solution but that solution turns out to be simple: stay put. On that we can debate, but for sure it's a useful check in the bugs of the system. Given the approach I would have given 5 stars if the author had provided some hints or quantitative analysis to the reader on the effects of some of the Supreme Court decisions on lower Courts and on the current management of antitrust law. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Win Your Case: How to Present, Persuade, and Prevail--Every Place, Every Time
Very deep and incisive

4-0 out of 5 stars listen! It's wonderful
I listened to the audio book, which is long but wonderful!Once you get through the book you will have learned several very valuable lessons.Mr. Spence provides several approaches for winning your case and learing how to be genuine and convincing. He advocates an emotional and honest investment in your situation and he tells you exactly how to do it.It works, and although many of his cases give court room stories, anyone can apply it to their own life outside the court room.We often interrogate others while being interrogated in life.Check it out!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Book That Transfers Raw Emotion
Gerry Spence has a rather eloquent way of describing what is charisma: "Charisma is the controlled transfer of raw emotion."

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
I didn't even read the casebook because it was too blah... This was the best book I found for Future Interests...

2-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat helpful
For the most part, there is nothing this book can teach you that you won't find in your casebook, but the problems are good practice. A lot of the information is helpful, but I don't know if you can trust all of the answers. My study group and I have found various confusing mistakes within and it has cost us valuable study time. See e.g. page 152 --second paragraph explaining a RAP problem (the author confuses O and A in saying that all of A's children would be born or conceived upon O's death). ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good material---but Outdated
The title of my review says it all: the text and the study guide were fine at the time they were published in 1996, but this is 2004 and a great deal has changed in California's court system from the vantage of civil procedure. The publisher should have updated this book no later than 2000 when the courts were administratively unified; additionally, local and state rules of procedure have been dramatically altered to place greater emphasis on ADR (alternative dispute resolution) and the rules regarding Fast-track litigation have likewise undergone significant changes.5-0 out of 5 stars Next best thing to the law library
I bought this book in preference over several other self help law books I examined after I fired my lawyer and went in pro per. Lots of really helpful, accessible, thorough, and friendly information. In fact it was sogood that I promised myself I would write its first online review. Youwon't get much help on how to act in court, though, as only attorneys cando that and not paralegals, who it was written for. But don't listen to meI'm not an attorney. My lesson in all of this was to stay out of court inthe first place. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!I am not alone!!
I am the quintessential third-culture kid.I was on a plane taking me to Singapore before I could walk. This began my life traveling from country to country following my father's career in an oil service company.Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Netherlands, and all points in between. This was my life until in was time for university, and I moved back to the States. When I read this book, I feel like I am reading the diary of my life. For the longest time I often wondered what was "wrong" with me.Why could I not fit in, why did I not feel at home?
5-0 out of 5 stars An explanation of why we are the way we are
To me personally it was like reading my own psychological profile, complete with explanations of every weird quirk and odd personality trait, good or bad, that I've ever displayed.
5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read
This book is a well-written, clear and systematic treatment of what is surely a difficult theme, because everything pertaining to TCKs is so personal.

5-0 out of 5 stars An informative reference guide to the complex laws and regulations concerning neighborly disputes and intricacies
The newly expanded and updated fifth edition of Neighbor Law: Fences, Trees, Boundaries, And Noise by attorney and mediator Cora Jordan is an informed and informative reference guide to the complex laws and regulations concerning neighborly disputes and intricacies. Deftly covering laws concerning such issues as water runoff and flooding, trees that hang over property line, problems with neighboring businesses, noisy neighbors, unclear boundary lines, blocked views, high or unsightly "spite" fences, dangerously deteriorating fences, dangers to children, and so much more, Neighbor Law is a complete and thorough compendium ideal for non-specialist general readers wanting to know (and be able to enforce) their rights as a property owner in a neighborhood of property owners. Neighbor Law is very strongly recommended for anyone searching for a "user friendly" informational documentation of all the rules and regulations concerning proper neighbor responsibilities and an understanding of what can and can not be lawfully done when a conflict arises between neighbors.
